Soft: Wilmington Rallies to Edge Mercer; Jamestown Holds off Franklin in Extra Innings Powered by N. Washington Rodeo

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – A sacrifice bunt off the bat of Lia Krarup resulted in two runs for Wilmington in the fifth inning, which was all they needed in a 2-1 win against Mercer.

Phoebe Eakman’s fielder’s choice in the third inning had given Mercer a 1-0 lead.

Ava Williamson got the win for Wilmington, allowing one run in five innings on five hits, striking out 12 and walking five. Sophia Maynard struck out three and allowed one hit over the final two innings to pick up the save.

Angelina Eakman was the tough luck losing pitcher, allowing two unearned runs on two hits, striking out 15 and walking two.

JAMESTOWN 16, FRANKLIN 15, 9 innings

   

                  

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Jamestown scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning, which proved to be just enough in a wild 16-15 win over Franklin.

An error allowed two runs to cross the plate in the top of the ninth and Katie King’s RBI single made it 16-13 and proved to be the difference.

A Rilee Hanna RBI double and an Autumn Fitzgerald RBI single in the bottom of the ninth got Franklin to within one, 16-15, before Miranda Biles got a strikeout to end the game.

Franklin trailed 13-7 going to the bottom of the seventh and scored six runs to send the game to extra innings.

For Jamestown, Biles was 5-for-6 with two doubles and three RBIs, while Savannah Thurber was 3-for-6 with a solo home run and two RBIs, Gianna Solderich 3-for-6 with a double and three RBIs and Miley Carter 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

                          

Biles got the win, allowing 22 hits and eight earned runs in nine innings, striking out 10 and walking three.

For Franklin, Hanna was 5-for-6 with a double and four RBIs, while Kiersten Hicks was 3-for-6 with two doubles and an RBI, Abigail Boland 3-for-6 with two RBIs and Fitzgerald 4-for-5 with two RBIs.

Jersey Swartz took the loss, allowing 22 hits and 10 earned runs, striking out three and walking three.

COCHRANTON 3, ROCKY GROVE 1

               

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Cochranton scored three times in the fifth inning, including a 2-run triple off the bat of Clair McCartney in a 3-1 win over Rocky Grove.

Claudia Lippert also had an RBI fielder’s choice in the frame for Cochranton.

Jaidyn Frayer got the win, allowing one unearned run in five innings on two hits, striking out eight and walking five. Brooklyn Needler pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout for the save.

Elizabeth Mawhinney took the loss allowing three hits and three unearned runs, striking out seven without issuing a walk.

FORT LEBOEUF 3, HARBOR CREEK 1

WATERFORD, Pa. – A two-run home run by Mya Stoltz in the third inning proved to be all Fort LeBoeuf needed in a 2-1 win over Harbor Creek.

Kiernan Skelton added a sacrifice fly for an insurance run for the Bison in the sixth inning.

Skelton got the complete game win, allowing one unearned run on three hits, striking out seven and walking one.

Brooklyn Cipalla had two of Harbor Creek’s three hits. Addison Lucas pitched well in defeat, allowing three runs on four hits in six innings, striking out 14 and walking four.

NORTHWESTERN 26, GIRARD 1, 3 innings

            

GIRARD, Pa. – Northwestern scored 20 runs in the first inning in a 26-1, 3-inning win over Girard.

For Northwestern, Zoey Johnson was 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, Ayla Ruland 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, Aalyiah Peckham 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Courtney Eddy 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs and Zaya Rastetter 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Johnson allowed one run in three innings to get the win, allowing four hits and striking out three.

Ava Lubenski had an RBI single for Girard.

WARREN 18, GENERAL MCLANE 6

EDINBORO, Pa. – Trailing 6-3, Warren scored nine runs in the fifth inning and six in the sixth in an 18-6, 6-inning win over General McLane.

Alexis Jones was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Dragons, while six players – Alana Stuart, Malaysia Sorensen, Lily Devore, Peyton Hagg, Madison Cornman and Danika Abbey had two RBIs each.

Alana Stuart tossed three shutout innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out eight.

Riley Lorah drove in a pair of runs for GM, while Bella Dibble was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Korryn Kinder took the loss, allowing 12 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits, striking out four.

SENECA 12, MERCYHURST PREP 2, 6 innings

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Seneca scored nine runs in the fifth inning on its way to a 12-2, 6-inning win over Mercyhurst Prep.

Ashley Post was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs for Seneca, while Jenna Lorei was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored and Hannah Wierczorek 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Alara Bem got the win, allowing two unearned runs in six innings, striking out 11 and allowing five hits.

Alona Campbell had two hits for Mercyhurst Prep. Aubree Wells took the loss, allowing 12 runs (four earned) in 5 ⅓ innings on 11 hits, striking out one and walking one.
