ECC’s Mourer Sets School Records for Wins, Strikeouts; DuBois Scores Three in Seventh to Stun Previously Unbeaten St. Marys powered by N. Washington Rodeo

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Emily Mourer set a pair of Elk County Catholic softball records in the same game picking up school marks for career wins and career strikeouts as the Lady Crusaders beat Johnsonburg, 16-1, in five innings at Knothole Park in Johnsonburg.

Mourer came into the contest needing seven strikeouts for the school mark and recorded exactly seven in getting the win. She went five innings allowing one earned run on five hits.

She now has 51 career wins and 413 career strikeouts.

                  

Mourer and Lucy Klawuhn each recorded their 100th career hit in the game as well with Mourer going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Klawuhn going 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and three runs scored.

Syd Alexander added a double while going 3-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored for ECC with Bailey Thorwart going 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, and three RBIs.

Kiri Emmert was also 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored, and two RBIs, and Alexa Uhl was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Meghan Tettis was 2-for-2 for Johnsonburg while Natalie Dunworth was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and a run scored.

Dunworth took the loss going five innings giving up 16 runs, eight earned, on 15 hits and a walk while striking out three.

                          

DUBOIS 5, ST. MARYS 4

ST. MARYS, Pa. – DuBois scored three times in the top of the seventh to stun previously unbeaten St. Marys, 5-4.

The Lady Beavers trailed 4-2 going to the seventh and had been held to four hits by Avery Eckels.

But after Eckels got the first out in the seventh, DuBois’ next six batters reached base on three singles, two walks, and a costly error that allowed the go-ahead run to score.

St. Marys did put the tying run at second and the winning run at first with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Ava Baronick got a fly out and a pop out to end the game.

               

Baronick scattered 11 hits in getting the win. She gave up four earned runs while walking six and striking out two.

She also hit another home run while going 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Brielle Gray also drove in a pair of runs for DuBois going 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Eckels took the loss going seven innings allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits and four walks while striking out six.

Gianna Surra hit a home run for the Lady Dutch going 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI.

Addison Beimel was 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI while Eckels was 1-for-4 with two RBIs, and Jianna Gerg was 3-for-3 with a walk.

REDBANK VALLEY SWEEPS CENTRAL CLARION

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Redbank Valley swept a doubleheader at Central Clarion by scores of 14-4 and 13-2 in five innings at Clarion-Limestone.

In the first game, Makenzie Foringer and Quinn White each drove in three runs.

            

Foringer was 4-for-5 while White was 4-for-4 with a triple, a walk, and three runs scored.

Bella Orr and Braylee Yeany each added three hits with Orr going 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored and Yeany going 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored.

Foringer got the win going seven innings allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits and four walks while striking out 10.

Samantha Simpson was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Central Clarion while Jenna Dunn went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Dunn took the loss allowing 10 earned runs on 15 hits and a walk. She struck out four in five innings of work.

In the second game, Yeany drove in three runs while going 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

White hit a home run for Redbank Valley and was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Keyauna Schimp was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

Izzy Bond also doubled while going 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs, and Orr was 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and three runs scored.

Foringer once again got the win going five innings allowing two earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three.

Simpson hit a home run for Central Clarion and was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Jesalyn Girt was also 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Dunn took the loss going two innings allowing three earned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one.

COUDERSPORT SWEEPS PORT ALLEGANY

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Scoring 41 runs in two games, Coudersport swept past visiting Port Allegany in a doubleheader winning by scores of 15-5 in five innings and 26-12 in five innings.

In the 15-5 victory, Sierra Myers was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, and two RBIs for the Lady Falcons while Ciarra Davis went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and three RBIs.

Lily Clinger and Laura Dunn were both 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Alissa Dunn was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and three RBIs.

Winning pitcher Hannah Fleniken helped herself by going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Fleniken allowed five runs, two earned, in five innings of work. She gave up two hits and four walks while hitting four and striking out nine.

Emily Errick walked twice and scored twice for Port Allegany.

Alyssa Tanner took the loss going four innings allowing 15 runs, 13 earned, on 16 hits, three walks, and a hit batter. She struck out three.

In the second game, Coudersport scored the 26 runs despite just 11 hits. It took advantage of 11 Port Allegany errors, 15 walks, and five hit batters.

Myers had another double while going 2-for-3 with a walk, three RBIs, and five runs scored.

Clinger was 2-for-3 with three walks, an RBI, and four runs scored, Laura Dunn scored four times and drove in a run, Marrah Fowler was 3-for-3 with three walks, two RBIs, and three runs scored, Davis was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and three RBIs, and Alissa Dunn was 1-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBIs.

Fleniken got the win going five innings allowing 12 runs, seven earned, on five hits, five walks, and six hit batters. She struck out seven.

AXX McKervey was 2-for-2 with a walk, an RBI, and three runs scored for Port Allegany while Errick drove in a pair of runs going 1-for-3.

Tanner took the loss pitching 3 ⅔ innings allowing 13 runs, six earned, on seven hits, six walks, and four hit batters. She struck out two.

CRANBERRY SWEEPS KEYSTONE

SENECA, Pa. – Cranberry swept a doubleheader from visiting Keystone by counts of 18-3 in three innings and 15-0 in three innings.

In the first game, Rylee Coe drove in four runs while going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored.

Avery Coe added three RBIs while going 2-for-2 with a triple, two walks, and two runs scored with Haylie Gregory and Reyna Watson each scoring three runs.

Gregory was 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, and an RBI, while Wattson was 2-for-2 with a double and a walk.

Denali Wenner also recorded a pair of hits and joined Danica Wenner in driving in two runs.

Denali was 2-for-3 with a run scored with Danica going 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored.

Watson got the win going three innings allowing three earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out six.

Emma Gruber went 1-for-2 with a triple, a run scored, and an RBI for Keystone with Bella Black going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

Bella Brandon took the loss going two innings allowing 13 runs, 12 earned, on seven hits and seven walks.

In the nightcap, Rylee Coe, Keelie Schneider, and Gracee Hess each had three RBIs.

Rylee Coe was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Schneider was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, and Hess was 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Denali Wenner added a pair of RBIs for the Berries while scoring two runs.

Rylee Coe also tossed a three-inning no-hitter striking out six.

Taylor Cloak took the loss going 1 ⅔ innings allowing 12 runs, 10 earned, on five hits and nine walks.

KARNS CITY 11, BROOKVILLE 3

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Jada Polczynski and Lyrik Reed each collected three hits in Karns City’s 11-3 win at Brookville.

Polczynski was 3-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored, and two RBIs, while Reed was 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Addison Burrows, Aubrey Taylor, and Nicole Taylor each added a pair of RBIs.

Burrows was 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, and two runs scored, Aubrey Taylor was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, and Nicole Taylor was 2-for-4 with a triple.

HXX Sherman also went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Lady Gremlins, and Nicole Huff was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Reed got the win going six innings allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits and five walks. She struck out nine.

Cadence Suhan hit a home run for Brookville while going 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Jordan Daisley added a double while going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored for the Lady Raiders.

Alyssa Tollini took the loss allowing 11 earned runs on 16 hits and four walks while striking out four in seven innings.

CURWENSVILLE 12, PURCHASE LINE 0, 5 INNINGS

COMMODORE, Pa. – Addison Siple threw a 3-hit shutout and drove in four runs to lead Curwensville to a 12-0, five-inning win at Purchase Line.

Siple walked one and struck out 11 in the circle while going 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored at the plate.

Addison Warren added a 2-for-3 day with two doubles, a walk, three runs scored, and three RBIs for the Lady Tide, while Addison Butler scored three times while going 1-for-2 with two walks.

Ava Olosky was also 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI, and Sydney Simcox was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 13, MARION CENTER 2

MARION CENTER, Pa. – A seven-run seventh inning helped visiting DuBois Central Catholic pull away from Marion Center for a 13-2 victory.

The Lady Cardinals led 6-1 going to the seventh before blowing the game open.

Kayley Risser drove in five runs and scored twice while going 3-for-5 for DCC, while Melia Mitskavich was 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

Lily Davidson had a big day as well going 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and three RBIs.

Rylee Kulbatsky got the win throwing seven innings allowing two earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out 14.

KANE 17, SMETHPORT 7

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Kylie Iak had four hits and three RBIs to help Kane to a 17-7 win at Smethport.

Iak went 4-for-6 and scored twice.

Hailee Sheaffer added four RBIs in the victory and was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored, while Lexi Mulchay went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Also for Kane, Leah Tigani drove in three while going 3-for-6 with a double, Oliva Bell was 4-for-5 with two RBIs, Sara Eley was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs, Maya Smith was 2-fo-5 with an RBI, and Macy Bell was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored.

Smith got the win going 5 ⅓ innings allowing seven runs, six earned, on two hits, six walks, and six hit batters. She struck out eight.

Hope Peterson was 1-for-1 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI for Smethport.

Taylar Colley took the loss going seven innings allowing 17 runs on 23 hits, five walks, and two hit batters. She struck out five.

OTTO-ELDRED 14, OSWAYO VALLEY 1, 5 INNINGS

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Using five doubles, including two from Kate Rhinehart, visiting Otto-Eldred rolled to a 14-1, five-inning victory over Oswayo Valley.

Rhinehart was 2-for0-3 with a walk, a run scored, and three RBIs.

Rayel Hakes also had three RBIs for the Lady Terrors and was the winning pitcher. She went 1-for-3 with a double and walk and pitched four innings allowing an earned run on one hit and a walk while striking out 10.

Kyla Andreano and Ayla VanScoter also had doubles for O-E with Andreano going 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and three runs scored and VanScoter going 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Jessi Hall added a 2-for-4 day with a walk and three runs scored with Carrier Dummond going 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and three RBIs.

Catelyn Dailey was 1-for-1 with a home run, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI for Oswayo Valley.

Shayden Messler took the loss going five innings allowing 14 runs, 12 earned, on 13 hits, six walks, and two hit batters. She struck out three.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 20, ALTOONA 0, 3 INNINGS

ALTOONA, Pa. – Scoring a season-high 20 runs, Punxsutawney cruised to a 20-0, three-inning road win at Altoona.

Oliva Toven drove in six for the Lady Chucks while going 2-for-3 with two home runs, and two runs scored.

That was part of a four-homer day for Punxsy, as Brooke Young and Avary Powell also went deep.

Young was 2-for-2 with a walk, two RBIs, and three runs scored, and Powell was 2-for-2 with a walk, two RBIs, and three runs scored.

Brynn Hergert, Sarah Gotwald, and Brinley Hallman each added doubles for the Lady Chucks.

Hergert was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs, Gotwald was 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI, and Hallman was 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, and four runs scored.

Ciara Toven also went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the win.

Hallman got the win going three innings allowing one hit. She struck out five.
