Base: Eight-run Third Leads DCC Past Cameron Co.; Huffman, Redbank Valley Top C-L; Coudy Sweeps Port Allegany powered by N. Washington Rodeo

DUBOIS, Pa. – An eight-run third inning fueled in part by four Cameron County errors lifted DuBois Central Catholic to an 11-1, five-inning victory at Stern Field in DuBois.

The Cardinals led 2-1 going to the third before the Cameron County miscues – the Red Raiders also failed to record an out on a bunt that went in the books as a fielder’s choice and there were two walks in the inning – opened the flood gates.

                  

Aiden Snowberger and Blake Pisarcik had the big hits in the inning, a pair of two-run singles.

For Pisarcik, it was part of a big day at the plate that saw him go 2-for-3 with three RBIs while being named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game.

He talked about his performance and the win on the Cole Orthodontic Associates Postgame Interview.

Brayden Fox also had a strong game for the Cardinals going 2-for-2 with a walk, a double, a triple, a run scored, and two RBIs. His triple in the fifth scored Johnny Varischetti, who had singled leading off the inning, all the way from first with the game’s final run.

                          

Fox was also strong on the mound going five innings allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out four. He retired eight of the final nine hitters he faced after an uneven start to the game.

Snowberger added a 1-for-1 day with two walks, two runs scored, and two RBIs, while Xavier Schwentner was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Ryan Shaffer was 1-for-3 with a run scored, while Treyton Tiucket was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Cameron County.

Josh Beer took the loss going three innings allowing 10 runs, just three earned, on six hits and five walks while striking out two.

REDBANK VALLEY 7, CLARION-LIMESTONE 1

               

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Jaxon Huffman threw a gem, and Mason Clouse and Braylon Wagner each drove in two runs to lead Redbank Valley to a 7-1 win at Clarion-Liemstone.

Huffman went six innings allowing an earned run on four hits and four walks while striking out three. Owen Clouse pitched a scoreless seventh with a pair of strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Mason Clouse was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and three runs scored with Wagner going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Breckin Minich was also 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Bulldogs, and Ty Carrier went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Huffman helped himself by going 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI, and Brock George was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored.

A four-run seventh inning helped Redbank Valley break open a close game.

Logan Lutz took the loss going five innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven.

Tommy Smith led the C-L offense going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

COUDERSPORT SWEEPS PORT ALLEGANY

            

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Coudersport swept visiting Port Allegany – each team was the home team once – in a doubleheader decided by two total runs.

The Falcons took Game One, 6-5, in eight innings on a walk-off single by Mason Roessner then scored five times in the top of the fifth to win Game Two, 5-4, in five innings on a game called early because of darkness.

Game One saw Port Allegany tie the contest at five-all with a three-run sixth inning that was capped by a two-run Nick Wilfong single to left.

But in the eighth, after one out, an error, a hit batter, and Roessner’s single won the game for the Falcons.

In that game, Gavyn Ayers had a pair of RBIs for Coudersport going 2-for-4 while Owen Deutschlander scored three runs while going 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

Deutschlander got the win in relief of Roessner going 1 ⅔ innings allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two.

Roessner went 6 ⅓ innings allowing five unearned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out six.

Wilfong was 1-for-5 with two RBIs for Port Allegany, while Levi Howard went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored and Tyler Carinci was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI, and two runs scored.

Howard took the loss in relief of Derek Smith going three innings allowing an unearned run on a hit, three walks, and a hit batter. He struck out three.

Smith pitched 4 ⅓ innings allowing five runs, one earned, on six hits, four walks, and a hit batter. He struck out five.

In Game Tow, Coudersport trailed 4-0 going to the fifth before three straight walks after one out opened the door.

MXX Taylor got the Falcons on the board with an infield single before a Roessner fielder’s choice made it 4-2.

Ayers then singled home a run before LT Myers delivered a go-ahead two-run single to left.

Port Allegany put runners on first and second to start the bottom of the fifth, but Ayers got a flyout, a strikeout, and a groundout to seal the victory.

Myers was 1-for-1 with two walks and two RBIs to lead the Falcon offense while Ayers was 1-for-1 with two walks, an RBI, and a run scored.

Ayers threw a two-hitter to get the win. He allowed four earned runs while walking five and striking out six.

Levi Howard was 1-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs for Port Allegany.

Wilfong took the loss going five innings allowing five earned runs on three hits, a hit batter, and seven walks. He struck out five.

KEYSTONE 9, CRANBERRY 8

SENECA, Pa. – Chaz Renninger scored on an error on a ball hit by Kord Stewart to cap a three-run sixth inning for visiting Keystone, who rallied past Cranberry, 9-8.

Noah Weckerly had tied the game a batter earlier with a sacrifice fly to right.

Renninger and Weckerly led the way for the Panthers with Renninger going 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs, and Weckerly going 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Renninger got the win in relief of Weckerly going four scoreless innings allowing a hit, four walks, and hit batter while striking out seven.

Weckerely pitched three innings allowing eight runs, five earned, on seven hits, three walks, and a hit batter while striking out three.

Connor Morrow had a pair of doubles for Cranberry while going 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Landon Burgorfer was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Blake Marchinke also drove in two runs going 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored, while Hudson Galla was 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI. Cole Findlay added a double while going 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored.

Marchinke took the loss in relief going 3 ⅓ innings allowing four runs, two earned, on two hits and three walks.

CLARION 5, KARNS CITY 1

BUTLER, Pa. – Devon Lauer and Matt Alston combined to throw a one-hitter, as Clarion beat Karns City, 5-1, at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park in Butler.

Lauer started and had his best outing of the season going three innings allowing one run on a hit, two hit batters, and six strikeouts.

After allowing two of the first three batters to reach off of him, Lauer set down eight of the final nine he faced.

Alston got the win going four innings in relief not allowing a hit while walking two. He struck out nine.

Lauer was also strong at the plate going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Bryce Brinkley also had a pair of hits for Clarion going 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Derek Smail was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored.

Jacob Jones was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Karns City.

Jones took the loss going four innings allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits and four walks while striking out four.

ST. MARYS 11, BROOKVILLE 5

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Lucas Bauer hit a home run and a double while going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBIs to lead St. Marys to an 11-5 win at Brookville.

Bauer had an RBI double during a three-run first inning then hit a three-run home run during a four-run second that gave the Dutch a 7-1 lead by the end of the inning.

Carter Redmond and Jackon Vollmer each added a pair of RBIs for St. Marys with Redmond going 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and a run scored, and Vollmer going 1-for-4 with a run scored.

St. Marys used four pitchers with Ben Paul, the second of those hurlers, getting the win going two hitless, scoreless innings. He walked two and hit a batter while striking out two.

Ladd Blake was 1-for-4 with two RBIs for Brookville with Carter Kessler going 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs scored.

Sergio Sotillo took the loss going two innings allowing seven earned runs on eight hits, a walk, and a hit batter.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 11, JOHNSONBURG 1, 5 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Matt Gilmore and Colby Nussbaum combined on a two-hitter to lift Elk County Catholic to an 11-1, five-inning victory over visiting Johnsonburg.

Gilmore got the win going three innings of two-hit ball. He allowed one run while walking two and hitting a batter.

Nussbaum went two hitless, scoreless innings striking out one.

Gilmore did damage with his bat as well with the freshman going 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and three RBIs.

Lance O’Neill drove in five for ECC while going 2-for-2 with a double, while Nussbaum was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Frankie Smith also went 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored, and Chase Simbeck was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

Eric Hoffman had an RBI for Johnsonburg.

Cam Larkin took the loss going 1 ⅓ innings allowing five earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out one.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 14, MARION CENTER 1, 5 INNINGS

MARION CENTER, Pa. – A six-run first inning helped lead Punxsutawney to its 10th win of the year, 14-1, in five innings at Marion Center.

Parker Stahlman had a huge day for the Chucks going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and five RBIs, while Coy Martino was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

Nevin Day also doubled while going 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored, while Maddox Hetrick and Luke Miller each scored three times and Brody Stouger was 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and three RBIs.

Ty Limrick, who was also 2-for-3, got the win going 4 ⅔ innings allowing one earned run on a hit, a hit batter, and two walks while striking out nine.

BALD EAGLE AREA 5, CLEARFIELD 4

MILESBURG, Pa. – A seventh-inning Clearfield rally came up just short in a 5-4 loss to defending PIAA Class 2A champion Bald Eagle Area.

The visiting Bison trailed 5-1 going to the seventh but scored three times in the inning with Anthony Lopez’s RBI double making it 5-4 while putting runners at second and third with two outs.

But O’Brian Owens flew out to right to end the game.

Brayden Dubbs and Kaden Burns each drove in two runs for the Bald Eagles

Tayten Yoder got the win going 6 ⅓ innings allowing four earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three.

Westin McClain got the save allowing two hits while striking out one.

Matt Irvin was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for Clearfield.

Hunter Rumsky took the loss going 5 ⅓ innings allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits, two hit batters, and six walks. He struck out four.

SALAMANCA (N.Y.) 6, OTTO-ELDRED 5

SALAMANCA, N.Y. – Otto-Eldred fell behind 6-0 before rallying to within one but ultimately fell, 6-5, at Salamanca (N.Y.).

Manning Splain led the Terrors, who scored four runs in the seventh, going 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Carter Wolfe took the loss going three innings allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits, a hit batter, and four walks while striking out two.

Jared Obenrader kept the Terrors in the game going three innings in relief allowing no runs on two hits and a walk while striking out three.

HOLLIDAYSBURG 3, DUBOIS 1

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. – Carson Kensinger and EJ Ulrey combined on a two-hitter to lead Hollidaysburg past visiting DuBois, 3-1.

Kensinger got the win going five innings allowing a first-inning run. He gave up one hit, hit two batters, walked two, and struck out 10.

Ulrey picked up the save going two innings allowing a hit while striking out one.

Hollidaysburg scored all its runs in the second inning on two bases-loaded walks and a passed ball.

Noah Farrell took the loss going two innings allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits and four walks while striking out four.

Grady Galiczynski pitched four scoreless innings allowing a hit and a walk while striking out five in relief.

Tyler Chamberlin was 1-for-3 with a run scored for the Beavers.

YOUNGSVILLE 3, KANE 2

MT. JEWETT, Pa. – Matt DeSimone’s RBI single in the top of the seventh inning broke a 2-2 tie and lifted Youngsville to a 3-2 win over Kane.

Youngsville had taken a 2-0 lead on a James Johnson RBI single and a Wyatt Dalrymple sacrifice fly, but Kane tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with RBI singles from Kane Sharba and Kyle Zook.

Nate Lucks tossed 2 ⅓ hitless innings of relief, striking out four to get the win, while Johnson and DeSimone finished with two hits each for the Eagles.

Brock Wensel took the loss, allowing one run on two hits in ⅔ of an inning.
