Base: Walk Offs Abound as ACV/Union takes down Keystone; Kane tops Bradford; NoPo beat Oswayo Valley

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Adrian Schmoll’s walk-off single in the eighth inning lifted A-C Valley/Union to a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Keystone at Union High School.

Schmoll’s game-winning hit came on the heels of the Falcon Knights scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game.

Sebastian Link’s two-out RBI single tied the game, but Trey Fleming was gunned out at the plate trying to score from second setting up extra innings.

Fleming’s two-out double got A-C Valley/Union within a run, as three of the Falcon Knight’s four hits in the seventh came with two outs.

                  

Then in the eighth, a hit batter, a walk, and a wild pitch set up Schmoll to be the hero.

Fleming drove in a pair of runs going 1-for-4 with the double, while Link was 2-for-4 with ab RBI.

Fleming got the win in relief of Link going 2 ⅔ innings of scoreless, hitless ball. He struck out three.

Link pitched 5 ⅓ innings allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits and a walk while striking out 10.

Chaz Renninger was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for Keystone.

                          

Kord Stewart took the loss in relief of Drew Keth. He didn’t record an out allowing an earned run on a hit, a walk, and a hit batter.

Keth went the first seven innings allowing three runs, two earned, on eight hits, a walk, and a hit batter. He struck out six.

KANE 2, BRADFORD 1, 8 INNINGS

KANE, Pa. – Dane Anderson scored from second on a ball hit by Brock Wensel that went in the books as an error in the bottom of the eighth inning, as Kane walked off Bradford.

Anderson led off the inning by being hit by a pitch and stole second before an error on shortstop Adam Ward allowed him to score the winning run.

               

Kane trailed 1-0 going to the sixth but tied the game on a one-out single by Isaya Miller.

Wensel and Nate McCormack combined to scatter eight hits but just one run for the Wolves.

Wensel went 5 ⅔ innings allowing an earned run on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven before McCormack picked up the win going 2 ⅓ innings allowing a hit and striking out four.

Anthony Lama matched the Kane pitchers through seven innings allowing one earned run on five hits and three walks while striking out one.

But with Lama 91 pitches, Bradford went to Noah Swanson in the eight, and Swanson took the loss giving up an unearned run on a hit batter. He struck out one.

Miller was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Kane, while Anderson was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and two runs scored.

Matthew Perry was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored for Bradford while Luam Haven went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

NORTHERN POTTER 13, OSWAYO VALLEY 12

ULYSSES, Pa. – AJ Bliss’ infield, walk-off single in the seventh inning completed a three-run rally in the inning for Northern Potter in a 13-12 win over Oswayo Valley.

            

The game was tied at 10 going to the seventh before Oswayo Valley took a 12-10 lead on an RBI single by Isaiah Goode and a run-producing groundout by Andrew Wood.

But in the bottom of the inning, Northern Potter got the first two batters on before an out was recorded. An error on a ball hit by Ty Daniels then got the Panthers within one before an error on a ball hit by Blyake Risser tied the game while sending Daniels to third setting up Bliss’ game-winning hit.

Bliss was 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs, while Daniels went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBIs, and three runs scored.

Also for NoPo, Conhar Snyder was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored, and Risser was 1-for-3 with two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Goode was 2-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored, and three RBIs for Oswayo Valley with Ethan Hackman going 1-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs and Nik Bonney going 2-for-4.

Luke Karr was also 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored for the Green Wave with Sage McCleaft going 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Risser got the win going 1 ⅔ innings allowing two earned runs on a hit and two walks while striking out two.

Karr took the loss going three innings allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits, a hit batter, and a walk. He struck out one.

CURWENSVILLE 9, MOSHANNON VALLEY 2

HOUTZDALE, Pa. – A six-run third inning helped lift Curwensville to a 9-2 win at Moshannon Valley.

Hunter Tkacik had a two-run double in the third for the Golden Tide with Gavin McDermott adding a two-run single.

Joining Tkacik, who was 1-for-4 with a run scored, and McDermott, who was 1-for-4, with two-RBI days for Curwensville were Grant Swanson and Logan Kunkle.

Swanson was 3-for-5 while Kunkle was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Cael Butler also went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored in the win.

Andrew Petnz got the win on the mound throwing a complete-game four-hitter. He allowed two runs, one earned while striking out three. He didn’t walk a batter and needed just 75 pitches.

REDBANK VALLEY 11, NORTH CLARION 3

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. – Mason Clouse doubled and homered to lead Redbank Valley to an 11-3 win at North Clarion.

Clouse was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.

Breckin Minich added a 2-for-3 game with a pair of RBIs, while Owen Clouse was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored, and Carson Could was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Also for the Bulldogs, Matt Kozma went 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI.

Gould, the second of three Redbank Valley hurlers got the win going 2 ⅓ innings allowing an earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out three.

Mason Clouse started and allowed two hits and a walk while striking out five in two innings of work.

Kyle Rusiewicz was 2-for-4 with an RBI for North Clarion with Ethan Carrl going 2-for-3 and Logan Bish going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Carll took the loss going four innings allowing seven runs, six earned, on 10 hits, a walk, and a hit batter. He struck out five.
