Soft: Henry Gets First Career Wins as Clearfield Downs P-O; Curwensville Stays Unbeaten; NoPo Tops O-E Again powered by N. Washington Rodeo

PHILIPSBURG, Pa. – Behind the pitching of Joelle Henry and the hitting of Eve Siegel, Clearfield secured its first win of the season, 6-2, at Philipsburg-Osceola.

Henry, a freshman, went seven innings allowing two earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven to earn her first career victory, while Siegel was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Sam Campolong was also 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Lady Bison, and Paige Houser went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Emily Gustkey wa 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI for Philipsburg-Osceola.

   

                  

Alivia Bizzarri took the loss going 6 ⅓ innings allowing six earned runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Clearfield led 1-0 going to the sixth but scored five times in the sixth to break the game open with Houser’s two-run single being the big hit in the inning.

CURWENSVILLE 5, GLENDALE 4

FLINTON, Pa. – Addison Siple induced a ground ball to second with the tying run at second and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, as Curwenville held off Glendale, 5-4.

The Ladt Tide led 4-2 after five before Glendale picked up a run in the sixth to make it 4-3.

                          

Curwensville then got what turned out to be an important insurance run in the seventh when Siple and Ava Hainsey had back-to-back doubles with one out.

Siple was 3-for-4 with the double, an RBI, and two runs scored while Hainsey went 2-for-4 with the double, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Ava Olosky also drove in two runs for Curwensville going 1-for-4 with a double.

Siple got the win going seven innings allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out eight.

               

Jayden Fry was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Glendale while Madison Peterson went 1-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored.

Peterson took the loss going seven innings allowing five earned runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out nine.
MONITEAU 5, REDBANK VALLEY 4

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Scoring all five of its runs between the fourth and fifth innings, Moniteau held off a late Redbank Valley rally to pick up a 5-4 home win.

The Lady Warriors trailed 2-0 before scoring three times in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead.

Redbank Valley scored twice in the seventh and had the tying run at first when Mariska Shunk got Quinn White to fly out to center to end the game.

Shunk gave up just two hits while being charged with four unearned runs. She walked five and hit a batter while striking out eight.

Shunk helped herself at the plate going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Alex Stewart was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Mackenzie Foringer was 1-for-3 with an RBI while also getting hit by a pitch for Redbank Valley.

Foringer took the loss going six innings allowing five runs, two earned, on seven hits and two walks while striking out three.

NORTHERN POTTER 5, OTTO-ELDRED 1

            

ULYSSES, Pa. – A strong performance in the circle by Jaylyn Williammee helped Northern Potter to a 5-1 win over visiting Otto-Eldred.

Williammee pitched seven innings allowing three hits and an unearned run. She struck out 10.

Kayla Hyde drove in two runs for the Lady Panthers going 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while Emma Haynes also doubled while going 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Lexi Prince was 1-for-3 with a double for Otto-Eldred, while Carrie Drummond scored the Lady Terrors’ lone run.

Kate Rhinehart took the loss going six innings allowing five runs, three earned, on nine hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out four.
FOREST AREA 18, KEYSTONE 0, 5 INNINGS

KNOX, Pa. – Tara Brown drove in three runs to help Forest Area to an 18-0, five-inning victory at Keystone.

Brown was 2-for-2 with a triple, a walk, and two runs scored.

Jayden Colvin also went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs for the Fires, while Alexa Carll was 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, three runs scored, and three RBIs.

Alexis Oswald and Faith Dietrich each added doubles in the victory with Oswald going 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs and Dietrich going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Also for Forest Area, Akeela Greenawalt was 3-for-3 with two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored, and Brooke Felleti drove in two runs and scored once.

Izzy Flick got the win going five innings allowing three hits and a walk while striking out eight.

CRANBERRY 16, CENTRAL CLARION 1, 4 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – Jadyn Shumaker drove in four runs to help Cranberry beat Central Clarion, 16-1, in four innings at Heindl Field in DuBois.

Shumaker was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Hayliee Gregory and Rylee Coe each added a pair of RBIs for the Berries with Gregory going 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, and two runs scored and Coe going 2-for-3.

Also picking up a pair of hits each in the win were Keelie Schneider, Cassie Scarbrough, and Avery Coe.

Schneider was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored, Scarbrough was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI, and Avery Coe was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored.

McKaylah Smith also scored three times while walking twice for the Berries.

Rylee Coe got the win going four innings allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out three.

Abby Knapp-Greeley was 1-for-3 with a run scored for Central Clarion.

Kaylee Smith took the loss going 3 ⅔ innings allowing 16 runs, nine earned, on 12 hits and five walks.

OSWAYO VALLEY SWEEPS PAST CAMERON COUNTY

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Oswayo Valley swept a doubleheader from visiting Cameron County winning both games in five innings by the counts of 13-1 and 25-4.

In the 13-1 win, Shayden Messler tossed a one-hitter allowing one earned run. She walked six and hit one while striking out 10.

Layken Enty drove in two runs for the Green Wave going 1-for-3 with a double, while Catelyn Dailey and Brooke George each scored three runs.

Dailey walked three times while George was 2-for-2 with a walk.

Sophia Komenda added a 2-for-3 day at the dish with a double and a run scored, while Eva West was 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Elyse Umble had an RBI for Cameron County.

Caitlin Palumbo took the loss going four innings allowing 13 earned runs on 11 hits and five walks walks while striking out two.

In the 25-4 victory, West was 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, three runs scored, and three RBIs for Oswayo Valley.

Mesler, Lauren Hedges, and, Grace Rositzke each added a pair of RBIs with Mesler going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two RBIs, Hedges going 2-for-2 with three walks and two runs scored, and Rositzke going 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored.

Also for Oswayo Valley, Enty was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, MXX Manning scored four times and drove in a run, and George was 1-for-2 with three walks, an RBI, and four runs scored.

West got the win going five innings allowing four earned runs on two hits, nine walks, and a hit batter while striking out 12.

ARMSTRONG 16, KARNS CITY 1, 4 INNINGS

KITTANNING, Pa. – Jess Pugh and Emma Paul both hit home runs to help Armstrong to a 16-1, four-inning win over visiting Karns City.

Pugh, who also added a double, was 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and three RBIs, while Paul went 1-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored, and four RBIs.

Rachel Ban got the win going four innings allowing one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out five.

Jada Polczynski was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Karns City.

Addison Burrows took the loss going two innings allowing 10 runs, seven earned, on five hits, three walks, and a hit batter while striking out seven.
