Soft: Baronick Hits 3 HRs Inlcuding a Walk-Off Dinger to Lead DuBois Past Punxsy; Smethport Sweeps Port Allegany powered by N. Washington Rodeo

DUBOIS, Pa. – Ava Baronick belted a two-run, walk-off home run, her third dinger of the game, in the bottom of the seventh to lift DuBois past visiting Punxsutawney, 12-10.

Lynx Lander started the inning by drawing a four-pitch walk before Baronick took an 0-2 pitch from Brinley Hallman and deposited it over the center-field fence for the game-winner.

That capped a rally from a 10-5 deficit after 3 ½ innings for the Lady Beavers.

DuBois, which led 5-3 at the end of one, found itself down 10-5 after Punxsy scored twice in the second, twice in the third, and three times in the fourth.

   

                  

But the Lady Beavers answered with two in the fourth and two in the fifth to get within one before an Audrey Hale single in the sixth scored Morgan Pasternak from third to tie the game.

Baronick’s three-homer game left her with six RBIs while going 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

Jordan McGranor was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while Hale went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Pasternak was also 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Abigail Kalgren got the win in relief of Baronick going five innings allowing five runs, two earned, on 10 hits and a walk while striking out two. Baronick went two innings giving up five runs, two weaned, on eight hits and a walk while also striking out two.

Ciara Toven was 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and three RBIs for Punxsutawney while Avary Powell was also 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RI, and Brynn Hergert went 1-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs.

                          

Also for the Lady Chucks, Laci Pookle was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, Brooke Young went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored, and Sara Gotwald was 2-for-4 with an RI and two runs scored.

Hallman took the loss going six innings allowing 12 runs, nine earned, on 13 hits and two walks while striking out five.

SMETHPORT SWEEPS PORT ALLEGANY

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Smethport swept a doubleheader against Port Allegany in Smethport winning Game One 11-3 and Game Two 17-15 in five innings in a game called because of darkness.

               

In the opener, Tylar Colley got the win going seven innings allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits, a walk, and a hit batter. She struck out seven.

Elizabeth Hungiville hit a home run for the Lady Hubbers and went 3-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored, and four RBIs.

Janelle Dinch added a double in the win while going 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Ava Gifford scored four times while going 2-for-3 with two walks, and Hope Peterson was 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI.

Brynn Evens was 3-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI for Port Allegany.

Maru Dibble took the loss allowing all three batters she faced to reach via walk, and all three scored.

Alyssa Tanner then gave up nine runs, five earned, on nine hits, nine walks, and three hit batters in seven innings of work.

In the nightcap, Smethport was the home team and the Lady Hubbers overcame a 15-13 deficit going to the bottom of the fifth by scoring four times in the inning.

Peterson broke the tie with an RBI single to right, and Colley followed with an RBI groundout.

After the third out of the inning, it was determined it was too dark to continue and the game was declared over.

Smethport actually led 12-5 after two before a seven-run third got Port Allegany back in the game.

            

Peterson and Colley each had doubles for the Lady Hubbers with Peterson going 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and three RBIs and Colley going 1-for-5 with three RBIs.

Dinch had four RBIs in the win going 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Colley got the win going five innings allowing 15 runs, eight earned, on 13 hits and eight walks while striking out six.

Peyton Gordon drove in five runs for Port Allegany and was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored. Tanner also had three RBIs in the contest going 2-for-4, while Alayna McKervey was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Evens also went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and three runs scored for the Lady Gators, Emily Errick was 1-for-1 with three walks, two RBIs, and two runs scored, and Gianna Glasgow was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Tanner, who had two different stints in the circle, took the loss going 3 ⅓ innings allowing 12 earned runs on five hits, 15 walks, and a hit batter. She struck out three. Dibble pitched 1 ⅔ innings allowing five runs, one earned, on three hits and three walks while striking out one.

ST. MARYS 15, BRADFORD 0, 4 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Molly Hanslovan hit a pair of home runs while going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and five RBIs to lead St. Marys to a 15-0

Giuliana Muccio also went deep for the Lady Dutch while going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Kaylen Eozzo added a triple and a double in the win while going 3-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored, and Kelsie Fledderman went 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored, and three RBIs. Addison Beimel was also 2-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored.

Avery Eckels got the win throwing a one-hit, four-inning shutout. She struck out eight.

Kali Dixon had the lone hit for Bradford.

Daisy Greene took the loss going two innings allowing seven earned runs on six hits and two walks while also hitting a batter. She struck out one.

BROCKWAY 10, JOHNSONBURG 0, 5 INNINGS

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Bailee Cranberry threw a five-inning, one-hit shutout to lead Brockway to a 10-0, five-inning win over visiting Johnsonburg.

She walked three and struck out six.

Josie Orinko, Eliza Powell, and Miley Wanson each had two RBIs for the Lady Rovers.

Orinko was 1-for-3 with a run scored, Powell was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, and Wanson was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Rheanna Spinda and Isabella Patton each doubled for Brockway with Spinda going 1-for-3 with two Ryan scored and Patton was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Icy Addeo had the lone hit, a double, for Johnsonburg.

Natalie Dunworth took the loss going four innings allowing 10 runs, two earned, on nine hits and a walk while striking out one.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 11, KANE 0, 5 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Emily Mourer struck out 10 while tossing a five-inning one-hitter to lead Elk County Catholic to an 11-0, five-inning win over visiting Kane.

Mourer helped herself on offense going 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and an RBI.

Lucy Klawuhn (2-for-3, 1 BB, 2 R) and Syd Alexander (2-for-3, 1 3B, 1 BB, 2 R) each drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Crusaders, while Alexa Uhl was also 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Reagan Bauer was 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

May Smith had the lone hit for Kane.

Smith took the loss allowing 11 runs, 10 earned, on nine hits, five walks, and two hit batters in four innings of work. She struck out four.
