MAPLEWOOD 6, CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 3

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Maplewood scored three runs in the second inning and withstood a late Cambridge Springs rally attempt in a 6-3 victory.

With the tying run at the plate in the form of Taylor Smith, who homered earlier in the game, Maplewood pitcher Rhinn Post got Smith to strikeout to end the game.

Post was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game for her efforts. She talked about her game.

Maplewood was able to take advantage of several Cambridge Springs miscues. A pair of errors created a two-on, one-out situation in the second, with Tanner Horn delivering a two-run single to put the Tigers up 2-0. Sheila Despenes put the finishing touches on the inning with an RBI single.

                          

Cambridge Springs got on the board in the third on Kenzie Lewis’ RBI single and cut the lead to one in the fourth on Smith’s towering homer to left.

Maplewood took a 4-2 lead in the fifth on Eve Beuchat’s RBI single and extended the lead to 6-2 in the seventh. In that seventh inning, an error with two outs kept the inning alive, and Izzy Eimer responded with a two-run double.

Lewis’ RBI double in the bottom of the seventh kept the game alive, and Aly Acosta-Reyes drew a walk to bring the tying run to the plate in the form of Smith.

Post scattered six hits in the win, allowing two earned runs, striking out five, and walking two.

               

Hailee Rodgers took the loss for Cambridge Springs, striking out seven and allowing six hits without issuing a walk. All of her runs allowed were unearned.

REYNOLDS 3, SHARPSVILLE 1

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Mackenzie Herman tossed a four-hitter as Reynolds won a showdown with Sharpsville, 3-1.

Herman allowed just an unearned run, striking out five and walking three.

Paige Yarian gave Sharpsville a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly in the first inning, but Reynolds responded with two runs in the second inning on Phoenix Collins’ two-run single.

The Raiders tacked on a third run in the fourth inning on Rylee Gearhart’s RBI single.

Bre Hanley was strong in defeat for Sharpsville, allowing just three hits and one earned run, striking out seven without issuing a walk.

COCHRANTON 19, CRANBERRY 4, 4 INNINGS

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Chelsey Freyermuth hit a pair of home runs while going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and two RBIs to help Cochranton slug its way past visiting Cranberry, 19-4, in four innings.

Megan Heim and Jaylin McGill also hit home runs for the Cardinals with Heim’s being a grand slam that ended the game.

            

Heim was 1-for-4 with a run scored and four RBIs, and McGill went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs while also adding a double.

Also for Cochranton, Kailyn Rose was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, three runs scored, and two RBIs, Taytum Hacons was 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, two RBIs, and four runs scored, Brooke Needler was 2-for-2 with a run scored, and an RBI and Dani Hoffman was 2-for-2 with a walk, and three runs scored.

Keelie Schneider had a pair of RBIs for Cranberry, while Oliva Plummer went 1-for-2 with a run scored, and an RBI.

Plummer took the loss going ⅔ of an inning allowing four earned runs on three hits and a walk. Alisha Beggs pitched 2 ⅓ innings allowing 10 runs, eight earned, one nine hits and two walks while striking out one, and McKaylah Smith pitched ⅔ of an inning allowing five earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out two.

SENECA 16, MERCYHURST PREP 1, 3 innings

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Lauren Konkol hit two triples, drove in three runs, and was also the winning pitcher as Seneca earned a 16-1, three-inning win over Mercyhurst Prep.

Konkol allowed one unearned run on one hit, striking out five without issuing a walk.

Julia Patterson was 3-for-3 with three RBIs for the Bobcats, while Megan Konkol also drove in three runs and Helen Genest was 2-for–2 with an RBI.

WARREN 4, FORT LEBOEUF 0

WATERFORD, Pa. – Alana Stuart did it both in the circle and at the plate in Warren’s 4-0 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

All Stuart did was fire a one-hit shutout, and complemented that offensively by belting a home run.

Lexi Hoffman also homered for Warren, which improved to 5-0 with the win.

CONNEAUT (Pa.) 6, GENERAL MCLANE 1

EDINBORO, Pa. – Linda Shepard went 2-for-4 with a home run as Conneaut earned a 6-1 win over General McLane.

Brooke Wise fired a three-hitter in the win, allowing just two walks while striking out 11.

Wise also had two hits, including a double, while Julianna Jacobs was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Jaidyn Jordan also collected two hits.

Bailey Cannon took the loss, allowing six earned runs in seven innings, on 12 hits, allowing striking out 10 and walking two.

WILMINGTON 15, KENNEDY CATHOLIC 0, 3 innings

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Jadyn Flick drove in three runs and was also the winning pitcher as Wilmington blanked Kennedy Cahtolic, 15-0 in three innings.

The Greyhounds scored nine runs in the first inning en route to the win.

Offensively for Wilmington, McKenna Bucker was 2-for-2 with a triple, three runs, and two RBIs, while Graeson Grubbs drove in two runs, and Flick was 2-for-2 and scored a pair of runs in addition to her three RBIs.

Eight different Wilmington players had at least one RBI.

Flick struck out six without issuing a walk.

NORTH EAST 5, NORTHWESTERN 3

ALBION, Pa. – Alex Cozzens pitched seven strong innings and also drove in a run as North East beat Northwestern, 5-3.

North East took advantage of six Northwestern errors en route to the win.

Makenna Gordon suffered the loss for Northwestern.

FOREST AREA 12, ROCKY GROVE 1, 5 INNINGS

SUGARCREEK TWP, Pa. – Madison McFarland went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored, and three RBIs to lead Forest Area to a 12-1, five-inning road win over Rocky Grove.

Alexis Oswald was also 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI for the Fires with Emma McFarland going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, Maggie Boehme 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, and Brenna Thompson 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Kaylin Jacoby had the lone hit for Rocky Grove.

Izabelle Flick got the win going five innings allowing one earned run on one hit, three walks, and two hit batters while striking out four.

Paige Cresswell took the loss allowing 10 runs, five earned, on 11 hits and a walk while striking out two in three innings of work.
