Base: St. Marys, ECC Get 8-Inning Wins in Elk County Tournament; Otto-Eldred Gets Big League Win over Cameron Co. powered by N. Washington Rodeo

ST. MARYS, Pa. – In the second semifinal game of the Elk County Tournament, Lucas Bauer’s one-out groundout in the top of the eighth socred Ben Reynolds from third to give St. Marys a 6-5 win over Port Allegany.

Reynolds reached on a fielder’s choice before stealing second and going to third on a Tysen Beimel single.

Bauer went 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk, a run scored, and three RBIs in the win, while Beimel was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI for the Dutch. Reynolds scored twice while going 1-for-4 with a walk.

St. Marys used four pitchers with Bauer getting the win going one inning and striking out three.

                  

Aiden Bliss was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored for Port Allegany with Kellen Veilleux going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Levi Howard took the loss going five innings allowing three earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 7, JOHNSONBURG 5, 8 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Charlie Geci’s two-run single in the top of the eighth broke a 4-all tie, and Elk County Catholic beat Johnsonburg, 7-5, in the other semifinal contest of the Elk County Tournament at Berwind Park.

Johnsonburg scored a run in the bottom of the eighth and had the bases loaded when Shawn Geci got Derek Beimel to ground out to shortstop to seal the victory.

                          

Shawn Geci went three innings in relief allowing an earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out one.

Lance O’Neill pitched five innings allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits, two walks, and a hit batter. He struck out one.

Charlie Gecci had three RIs while going 2-for-5 with a run scored while Chase Simbeck went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Colby Nussbaum was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored for the Crusaders, and Will Brem was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored.

Nick Myers was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI for Johnsonburg while Isaiah Jackson was 2-for-5. Ryan Delhunty also went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored.

               

Hunter Beeler took the loss in relief of Beimel going 3 ⅓ innings allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits, three walks, and two hits batter. He struck out three.

Beimel went 4 ⅔ innings allowing four earned runs on five hits, five walks, and a hit batter. He struck out five.

OTTO-ELDRED 9, CAMERON COUNTY 1

EMPORIUM, Pa. – In a key league game, Otto-Eldred earned a split of the season series with Cameron County by topping the homestanding Red Raiders, 9-1.

Zach Shuessler got the win going 5 ⅔ innings allowing one earned run on seven hits, two walks, and a hit batter. He struck out four.

Jared Obenrader went 1 ⅓ innings scoreless to finish off the game for the Terrors.

Hunter App was the hero at the plate going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and four RBIs.

Ryan Shaffer took the loss allowing seven runs, just one earned, on two hits, six walks, and a hi batter in five innings of work.

Maddox Baughman was 2-for-4 for Cameron County while Jake Narby was 1-for-4 with a run scored nad Jesop Farabaugh was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

            

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 9, BROCKWAY 3

DUBOIS, Pa. – Scoring eight runs in its final two at-bats, DuBois Central Catholic beat visiting Brockway, 9-3, at Stern Field in DuBois.

The Cardinals were clinging to a 4-3 lead after Brockway scored three times in the top of the sixth following a three-run outburst by DCC in the bottom of the fifth.

But DCC scored five times in the sixth to break the game open.

Brayden Fox went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored in the win, while Trent Miller was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI, and AXX Admaski was 2-for-2.

Xavier Schwenter added three RIs while going 1-for-1 with a walk for the Cardinals.

Carter Himes got the win going five innings allowing two hits and two walks while striking out six.

Blake Pisarcik went one-plus inning allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits and a hit batter. He struck out three.

Aiden Snowberger got the final three outs striking out two.

Chad Young was 1-fo-3 with a double and two RBIs and a run scored for Brockway while Caleb Daugherty went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Andrew Brubaker took the loss going 4 ⅔ innings allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits, five walks, and two hit batters. He struck out four.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 8, BROOKVILLE 2

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Scoring all eight of its runs in the first two innings, Punxsutawney picked up an 8-2 road win over Brookville.

The Chucks scored four in the first and four in the second off Pierson Ruhlman.

Nevin Day had a big day at the plate for Punxsutawney going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored, and three RBIs.

Cooper Hallman was also 2-for-4 with a walk, while Brody Stouffer went 1-for-2 with two walks and two RBIs.

Donnie Bender added a double while going 2-for-4 in the win.

Parker Stahlman got the win going five innings of one-hit ball. He walked three and struck out three.

Ladd Blake and Owen Fleming had RBIs for Brookville.

Ruhlman took the loss going 3 ⅓ innings allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits, five walks, and a hit batter. He struck out two.

KARNS CITY 13, CRANBERRY 2, 5 INNINGS

SENECA, Pa. – A seven-run first inning helped Karns City to a 13-2, five-inning win at Cranberry.

Hobie Bartoe, Tyler Kelly, Jacob Jones, and Adam Manuel each drove in two runs for the Gremlins.

Bartoe was 1-for-2 with a run scored, Kelly was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored, and Jones was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Also for the Gremlins, Joey O’Donnell scored three times and had an RBI while drawing three walks, Mason Sherwin was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, and Jacob Callihan scored twice.

Sherwin got the win going five innings allowing six hits, two earned, runs, a walk, and two hit batters. He struck out one.

Cole Findlay was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Cranberry while Landon Burgdorfer was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Aiden Herrell-Ward was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Talon Rex also went 2-for-2 for the Berries.

Connor Morrow took the loss lasting ⅔ of an inning while being charged with seven runs, three earned, on three hits, three walks, and two hit batters.
