Rewatch the game:

Beimel was 2-for-2 with a walk, three runs scored, and four stolen bases.

“It’s really exciting,” Beimel, who was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game, said. “With ECC being our rival, it’s good to come out and beat them and it’s always exciting.”

See Beimel’s full Cole Orthodontics and Associates Postgame Interview:

Gianna Surra came up with Beimel and Molly Hanslovan on second and third in the first inning. Surra hit a ball that ECC pitcher Emily Mourer had to come out of the circle to field. Mourer threw to first, and Beimel went home on the throw. The subsequent throw to try and throw out Hanslovan was wide of the mark, allowing Hanslovan to trot home and give St. Marys a 2-0 lead.

A similar situation played out later in the game, with a Surra groundout resulting in Beimel coming home to extend the lead.

Jianna Gerg doubled and scored a run for St. Marys, while Giuliana Muccio also had two hits and scored a run as the Lady Dutch led 5-1 going to the sixth.

Consecutive hits from Lucy Klawuhn, Syd Alexander, and Thorwart allowed a run to cross the plate for ECC, and Mya Pistner ultimately came up to bat with the bases loaded and two outs. Pistner hit a ball that was foul by no more than a couple of feet. It easily cleared the fence and would have given the Lady Crusaders a 6-5 lead.

Instead, Eckels rallied to strike out Pistner and St. Marys tacked on one more in the bottom half of the inning and held on for the win.

ECC’s Emily Mourer opened the second inning with a solo blast to straightaway center, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

Eckles settled in from there, however, retiring the next 10 batters she faced. She gave up two earned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out eight.

Mourer took the loss going six innings allowing six runs, four earned, on seven hits and three walks while striking out four.

CONSOLATION: REDBANK VALLEY 10, JOHNSONBURG 0, 5 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – In the consolation game, Mackenzie Foringer went 3-for-3 with a home run and five runs batted in while also throwing a shutout.

Foringer, who hit a two-run home run, went five innings in the circle allowing five hits while striking out seven.

Bella Orr added a double for the Lady Bulldogs while going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored, and Sammi Bowser was 1-for-1 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Zoey Grunthaner was 2-for-3 for Johnsonburg.

Natalie Dunworth took the loss going four innings allowing 10 runs, eight earned, on nine hits while striking out seven.

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Bailey Thorwart’s first career walk-off home run lifted Elk County Catholic to a 5-4 win over Redbank Valley in the semifinals.

In a 4-4 game, Thorwart, just a freshman, led off the bottom of the seventh by taking strike one from Makenzie Foringer before taking her next pitch over the left-center field fence for the game-winner.

Lucy Klawuhn was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI for ECC while Mya Pistner went 3-for-3 and Thorwart was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Alexa Uhl was also 2-for-2 with a walk.
