Base/Soft: Slippery Rock Walks off Franklin; Prep Keeps Rolling; OC, Seneca, Mercyhurst get Tight Wins Powered by N. Washington Rodeo

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.- Dominick Zandi drew a walk-off, bases-loaded walk as Slippery Rock rallied past Franklin, 11-10.

The Rockets surrendered an 8-run second inning to the Knights, but rallied with three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.

Sal Mineo delivered the big blow in the sixth, tying the game with a grand slam. Mineo finished 3-for-3 and scored four runs.

Zandi was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Rockets. Mineo got the win in relief, tossing 2 ⅓ scoreless innings on two hits, striking out five.

Alex Wible was 2-for-5 with two RBIs for Franklin, while Ethan Nightingale was 3-for-45 with an RBI.

                  

Drew Kockler took the loss, allowing one run in 1 ⅔ innings, striking out three and walking five.

CATHEDRAL PREP 10, CORRY, 5 innings

ERIE, Pa. – Jason Fultz Jr. and Matt Oblich drove in two runs each as Cathedral Prep beat Corry, 10-0 in five innings.

The Ramblers scored six runs in the fifth inning. Nick Jackson was 3-for-3 with an RBI and three runs for Prep, while Mathius Sprickman 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs.

Sam Ciukaj allowed just two hits in five innings, striking out four.

                          

OIL CITY 3, TITUSVILLE 2

OIL CITY, Pa. – Oil City scored three runs in the third inning in a 3-2 win over Titusville.

Wil McMahon got the win, allowing one run on four hits in five innings, striking out nine.

Braylon Barber was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Oil City, while Jacob Teeter was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Ian McDonald was 3-for-3 with an RBI for Titusville, while Nate Stearns was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Brett Schmidt tossed a complete game, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out three.

               

SENECA 4, NORTHWESTERN 3

ALBION, Pa. – Seneca scored two runs each in both the fourth and fifth innings in a 4-3 win over Northwestern.

Michael Gilmore was 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Seneca, while Lucas Rupp and Sean DeMauri drove in one run each.

Rupp got the complete game win, allowing three unearned runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking one.

Garrett Eddy was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Northwestern, while Jacob Mitchell was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Nick Timm took the complete game loss, allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out six and walking two.

MERCYHURST PREP 2, GIRARD 1

ERIE, Pa. – Brady Rice allowed one unearned run in five innings as Mercyhurst Prep edged Girard, 2-1.

Ethan Ishimaru’s RBI single in the fourth inning gave Mercyhurst Prep the lead for good at 2-1.

            

Rice allowed just two hits and struck out nine, while Rocco Almonte had the other Laker RBI.

Tyler Gilmore allowed two runs in four innings for Girard, allowing six hits and striking out four. Mason Kalicky had two hits for the Yellow Jackets.

IROQUOIS 4, CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 1

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Reilly Brown tossed a 4-hitter as Iroquois beat Cambridge Springs, 4-1.

Brown struck out nine and walked three.

Ben Moffett was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Iroquois.

Owen Riley allowed two runs (both unearned) in four innings, striking out two and walking one.

SAEGERTOWN 6, COCHRANTON 0

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Blake Burchill and William Shaffer combined on a 3-hit shutout as Saegertown beat Cochranton, 6-0.

Burchill allowed three hits in five innings, striking out five, while Shaffer struck out three in two perfect innings.

Saegertown scored four runs in the third inning. Blake Leslie was 1-for-3 with three RBIs for the Panthers, while DeMarcus Manning was 2-for3 with an RBI and Burchill 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.

Isaiah Long took the loss, allowing five runs (one earned) in four innings on six hits, striking out two and walking four.

YOUNGSVILLE 10, UNION CITY 5

UNION CITY, Pa. – Nathan Lucks hit a 3-run home run and finished with three hits and four RBIs for Youngsville in a 10-5 win over Union City.

Matt DeSimone was 4-for-5 with two RBIs for Youngsville, which scored three runs in the first inning and four in the sixth. David Manning drove a run for the Eagles, while Cole Johnson had two hits and scored a run.

Manning went 6 ⅔ innings to get the win, scattering 14 hits, allowing four earned runs while striking out eight.

Daithan Kent had three hits for Union City, while ian Kinney and Lucas Doutt had two hits and an RBI each.

GENERAL MCLANE 11, WARREN 3

EDINBORO, Pa. – Alex Clark drove in a pair of runs and General McLane scored five runs in the second inning of an 11-3 win over Warren.

Jordan Cannon got the complete game win, , scattering nine hits, striking out seven and walking two.

Charlie Swanson and Kellen Chelton had two hits and an RBI each for GM.

Aidan Zdarko, Carter Cochran and Colin Zdarko had two hits and an RBI each for Warren. Aidan Zdarko took the loss, allowing eight runs (four earned) in four inning on seven hits, striking out two.

EISENHOWER 7, ROCKY GROVE 5

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Eisenhower scored six runs in the sixth inning in a 7-5 win over Rocky Grove.

Johnny Palmieri was 2-for-5 with two RBIs for Ike, while Shawn Pascuzzi was 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run, Caleb Jakubczak 3-for-4 with a run, Derek Childs 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run and Mason Degnan 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.

Eisenhower collected 19 hits in the win.

Childs went 5 ⅔ innings, allowing five runs on three hits, striking out six and walking five.

Mykah Stone had two RBIs for Rocky Grove.

ERIE 13, MEADVILLE 12

ERIE, Pa. – Erie scored 10 runs over the final three innings to rally for a 13-12 win over Meadville.

Collin Nuber was 3-for-5 with four RBIs for Erie, while Dominick Fracassi had three hits and scored two runs, while Chase Benedict and Mason Kindle hits and scored two runs each.

Eli Nicklas allowed four runs in 5 ⅓ innings on nine hits, striking out oneand walking four.

Ian Miller was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs for Meadville, while Rocco Tartaglione had two hits and an RBI, as did Henry Desantis-Boggs.

Miller took the loss, allowing eight runs (two earned) in 2 ⅔ innings on seven hits, striking out two and walking two.

GROVE CITY 6, HICKORY 3

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Grove City took the lead with three runs in the sixth inning of a 6-3 win over Hickory.

Ethan Adams hit two triples and drove in two runs for the Eagles, while Paul Gubba was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Ben Fischer got the win, allowing two runs (one earned) in five innings on four hits, striking out five.

Tanner Turosky was 2-for-5 with an RBI for Hickory, while Dom Uberti also had a pair of hits. Tyler Boyle took the loss, allowing one run in ⅓ of an inning.

SOFTBALL

ERIE 19, CONNEAUT (OHIO) 18

ERIE, Pa. – Norah DeRooy had three hits and drove in five runs as Erie edged Conneaut (Ohio), 19-18.

Erie took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, taking the 19-18 lead on Naomi Baker’s RBI single.

Aleah Wrnshuis was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for erie, while Kreana McCloud was 1-for-5 with four RBIs and Jasmine Cruz 1-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI.

McCloud got the win, allowing 10 runs (four earned) in five innings on three hits, striking out five and walking seven.

NORTH EAST 17, GENERAL MCLANE 7, 6 innings

EDINBORO, Pa. – Cadence Jones and Alexa Lutz drove in three runs each as North East beat General McLane, 17-7 in six innings.

Six different North East players drove in one run each, with Alaina Rodemoyer and Julianna Coletta scored three runs each.

Sydney Whitman got the win, allowing seven runs (six earned) in six innings on six hits, striking out 10.

Alexa Plyler and Riley Lorah drove in two runs each.

SLIPPERY ROCK 7, TITUSVILLE 4

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Mia Sosa had three hits and drove in two runs as Slippery Rock beat TItusville, 7-4.

Slippery Rock scored four runs in the third inning. Lillian Campbell also drove in two runs for Slippery Rock.

Sosa got the win, allowing four runs (one earned) in seven innings on seven hits, striking out a pair.

Kasey Krepps was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Titusville. Jordyn Wynn allowed two unearned runs in 4 ⅔ innings on three hits, striking out a pair.
