Who Said Baseball Can’t End in a Tie. Clarion/DCC Play to Three-All Deadlock at PNC Park

PITTSBURGH – Who says there is no tying in baseball?

Rewatch the game

In perhaps the most fitting ending possible to a special night, Clarion and DuBois Central Catholic played to a 3-3 tie at PNC Park in Pittsburgh in a game called after two hours because of a predetermined time limit.

All six of the runs game in two innings, as both teams scored a run in the first and then two in the fifth.

DCC led 3-1 after plating two in the top of the fifth on an RBI double by Blake Pisarcik and an RBI single by Carter Himes.

But Clarion tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI groundout by Hayden Weber and an RBI error by Dawson Smail. The miscue by Carter Himes, the shortstop, would have scored the tying run either way.

Clarion had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the seventh when Dylan Smail walked with two outs and moved to second on a wild pitch by Pisarcik.

But, after an intentional walk to Dawson Smail, Bryce Brinkley flew out to right field ending they game in the tie.

DCC had a golden opportunity in the first when it loaded the bases with no one out against Clarion starter Tanner Miller.

But all the Cardinals could muster was a sac fly from Himes, as Miller got Andrew Green to line out to center and Trent Miller to fly out to right.

That was the story of the game for DCC, which left 10 men on base.

The Bobcats tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Dawson Smail and Brinkley had singles leading off the inning.

Following a double play by Noah Harrison that saw Dawson Smail go to third, Smail scored on a wild pitch.

Aiden Snowberger started for DCC and went six innings allowing three earned runs on four hits and two walks. Pisarcik threw a scoreless seventh walking two.

Miller started for Clarion and went three innings allowing one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out two.

Devon Lauer gave up two runs on two hits and two walks in two innings of relief striking out one, and Derek Smail went two scoreless innings allowing a walk while striking out three.
