Soft/Base: Corry Blanks Franklin; Slippery Rock Tops Grove City at PNC Park Powered by N. Washington Rodeo

CORRY, Pa. – Payton McCray tossed 2 -hit shutout as Corry beat Franklin, 5-0.

McCray struck out 11 and walked five.

Kayece Porter and Alli Goodwill drove in one run each for Corry.

Mackenzie Spence also had two hits for Corry.

Jersey Swartz was in the circle for Franklin, allowing four earned runs on four hits in six innings, striking out five and walking seven.

                  

KARNS CITY 13, PUNXSUTAWNEY 11

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Addison Burrows had four hits and three RBIs to lead Karns City to a wild 13-11 win over visiting Punxsutawney.

Burrows went 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, and four runs scored.

Karns City led 13-5 following a six-run fifth inning before Punxsutawney scored twice in the sixth and four more times in the seventh to close within two.

The Lady Chucks had the tying run at the plate in the seventh before Brinley Hallman lined out to center to end the game.

                          

Jada Polczynski stayed hot for Karns City hitting another home run while going 1-for-2 with two walks, a run scored, and an RBI.

Aubrey Taylor also drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Gremlins going 1-for-4 with a run scored, while Lyrik Reed was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.

Burrows got the win going six-plus innings allowing 11 runs, 10 earned, on 10 hits and six walks while striking out one.

Reed got the save coming into the game in the seventh with two runs in and two n. She allowed a hit.

Avary Powell and Brooke Young hit home runs for Punxsutawney.

               

Powell, who added a double, was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and four RBIs.

Young was 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Hallman also went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Sarah Gotwald went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, and three runs scored.

Hallman took the loss going one inning allowing two earned runs on two hits while striking out one.

COWANESQUE VALLEY 14, NORTHERN POTTER 4, 6 INNINGS

ULYESSES, Pa. – Scoring 10 times in the sixth inning, visiting Cowanesque Valley beat Northern Potter, 14-4, in six innings.

The game was tied at four before the Indians’ sixth-inning eruption.

Ashley Woodring was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and four RBIs to lead CowValley while Ella Churchill went 1-for-3 with a triple, a run scored, and two RBIs. Keyana Thomas was also 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, and Zeraya Wilson went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored.

Ruby Sherman got the win going six innings allowing four runs, three earned, on two hits and three walks while striking out 13.

            

Kayla Hyde was 1-for-3 with a triple, a run scored, and three RBIs for Northern Potter, while Taylor Knowles went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Jaylyn Williammee took the loss going 5 ⅓ innings allowing 10 runs, seven earned, on 10 hits, four walks, and a hit batter. She struck out seven.

BASEBALL

SLIPPERY ROCK 10, GROVE CITY 2

PITTSBURGH – Sal Mineo drove in five runs as Slippery Rock beat Grove City 10-2 at PNC Park.

Mineo had two hits, while Isaiah McCandless drove in two runs and Ryan Double and Dominck Zandi one each.

McCandlee went four innings to get the win, allowing two runs (one earend) in four innings, allowing three hits and striking out five.

Will Schell was 1-for 3 with an RBI for Grove City.
