April 29, 2022 D9 Softball: Hetrick Leads Redbank Valley to Win; ECC Edges C-L with Two in Seventh; Fires Burn Rocky Grove

REDBANK VALLEY 6, BROOKVILLE 5

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Leigh Ann Hetrick went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI to lift Redbank Valley to a 6-5 win at Brookville.

Mackenzie Foringer was 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Lady Bulldogs with Sam Evans going 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Taylor Ripple also went 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.

Alexee Mays and Kerstyn Davie both had a pair of RBIs with Mays going 2-for-3 and Davie 1-for-3 with a run scored.

               

Mackenzie Foringer got the win going seven innings allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits while striking out five.

Alyssa Tollini went seven innings allowing six earned runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out eight.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 9, CLARION-LIMESTONE 8

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Caitlin Vollmer’s one-out RBI single in the top of the seventh gave Elk County Catholic a 9-8 win over Clarion-Limestone.

ECC, which trailed 5-0 early but also led 7-5, found itself down 8-7 entering the seventh before Lydia Anderson doubled leading off the inning and Syd Alexander tripled her home to tie the game with one out.

                          

The Lady Crusaders broke out the lumber with seven extra-base hits in the game including a pair of doubles from Anderson and a home run from Emily Mourer.

Mourer was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Anderson was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, Vollmer was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Ellie Baron was 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.

Abby Himes went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and four RBIs for C-L with Frances Milliron going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Kendall Dunn 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Mourer got the win going seven innings allowing eight runs, seven earned, on nine hits and three walks while striking out four.

Jenna Dunn took the loss in relief going 3 ⅔ innings allowing four earned runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out one. Regan Husted started and pitched 3 ⅓ innings allowing five earned runs on six hits while striking out one.

               

FOREST AREA 12, ROCKY GROVE 1, 5 INNINGS

SUGARCREEK TWP, Pa. – Madison McFarland went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored, and three RBIs to lead Forest Area to a 12-1, five-inning road win over Rocky Grove.

Alexis Oswald was also 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI for the Fires with Emma McFarland going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, Maggie Boehme 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, and Brenna Thompson 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Kaylin Jacoby had the lone hit for Rocky Grove.

Izabelle Flick got the win going five innings allowing one earned run on one hit, three walks, and two hit batters while striking out four.

Paige Cresswell took the loss allowing 10 runs, five earned, on 11 hits and a walk while striking out two in three innings of work.

MONITEAU 15, A-C VALLEY 5, 5 INNINGS

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Taylor Thomas went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI while also being hit by a pitch in Moniteau’s 15-5, five-inning win over visiting A-C Valley.

Megan Wise was also 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs for the Lady Warriors with Mariska Shunk going 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI.

            

Grace Thurner ended the game in the fifth with a three-run, pinch-hit double, Emma Cover was 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, a sac fly, a walk, and a run scored, and Destiny Travis was 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Meah Ielase went 1-for-2 with a walk, a home run, two runs scored, and two RBIs to lead A-C Valley with Avah Burke driving in a pair of runs while going 1-for-2.

Rylan Strauser also had a double and a run scored for the Lady Falcons.

Covert got the win going five innings allowing five earned runs on seven hits, three walks, and a hit batter while striking out two.

Shania Whitmer took the loss pitching 4 ⅔ innings allowing 15 runs, 12 earned, on 12 hits, 10 walks, and two hit batters while striking out one. Mackenzie Parks allowed a double to the only batter she faced.

DUBOIS 11, CAMBRIA HEIGHTS 1, 6 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – Sarah Henninger went 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored, and four RBIs while also being hit by a pitch to lead DuBois to an 11-1, six-inning win over visiting Cambria Heights.

Morgan Pasternak and Allie Snyder each added a pair of RBIs for the Lady Beavers with Pasternak going 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored and Snyder 1-for-3.

Also for DuBois, Lauren Walker was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, Gabby Gulvas was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, and Jada Swatsworth was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Martina White went 2-for-4 with a run scored for Cambria Heights

Snyder got the win going six innings allowing one earned run on six hits, a walk, and a hit batter while striking out nine.

Jenna Serafin took the loss going three innings allowing six earned runs on eight hits, a walk, and a hit batter while striking out two.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 17, CLARION 5, 5 INNINGS

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Brooke Young went 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, four runs scored, and four RBIs to lift Punxsutawney to a 17-5, five-inning win over visiting Clarion.

Brynn Hergert and Avary Powell also each drove in four runs for the Lady Chucks with Hergert going 2-for-2 with a run scored, and Powell 2-for-2 with four runs scored.

Kaylee Guidice added a 2-for-3 day with three RBIs and a run scored, Ciara Toven was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and three runs scored, and Emily Dobbins was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Punxsutawney.

Noel Anthony had a double and a pair of RBIs for Clarion.

Karli Young got the win going four innings allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out two. Hergert pitched an inning allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out two.

Anthony took the loss in the circle for Clarion.

OSWAYO VALLEY 16, PORT ALLEGANY 2, 5 INNINGS

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Laya Phillips and MacKenzie George each drove in three runs to help Oswayo Valley to a 16-2, five-inning win over visiting Port Allegany.

Phillips was 3-for-4 with a run scored, and MacKenzie George was 1-for-2 with a triple, a walk, and two runs scored.

Also for the Green Wave, Trinity Lundy went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs, MaKenzie Mesler was 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs, Brooke George was 3-for-4 with a double and four runs scored, Charlotte Austin-Keech was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, Shayden Mesler was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored, and Eva West was 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Tori Tanner was 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI for Port Allegany with Madeline Smith going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

MaKenzie Mesler got the win going five innings allowing two earned runs on eight hits while striking out eight.

Cayle Lloyd took the loss pitching 3 ⅓ innings allowing 11 runs, 10 earned, on 10 hits and five walks while striking out one.

GALETON 9, COUDERSPORT 8

GALETON, Pa. – Macey Crowell went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, and three runs scored, and Mikayla Schott was 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and four RBIs to help Galeton outslug visiting Coudersport, 9-8.

Also for the Lady Tigers Lauren Sauly was 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored and Eve Cole was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Sierra Myers paced Coudersport going 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and four RBIs, while Ava Wahlers was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Emma Saulter was 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk, a runs scored, and two RBIs.

Schott got the win going seven innings allowing eight earned runs on 14 hits, four walks, and two hit batters while striking out three.

Saulter took the loss going six innings allowing nine runs, seven earned, on nine hits and eight walks while striking out 10.

JUNIATA VALLEY 7, CURWENSVILLE 6

ALEXANDRIA, Pa. – Madison Belina went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to help Juniata Valley to a 7-6 win over visiting Curwensville.

Teagan Harzinski went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Curwensville with Mackenzie Wall going 1-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Taryn Stewart got the win going seven innings allowing six runs, one earned, on seven hits and three walks.

Joslynne Freyer took the loss going six innings allowing seven runs, three earned, on seven hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out five.

COCHRANTON 19, CRANBERRY 4, 4 INNINGS

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Chelsey Freyermuth hit a pair of home runs while going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and two RBIs to help Cochranton slug its way past visiting Cranberry, 19-4, in four innings.

Megan Heim and Jaylin McGill also hit home runs for the Cardinals with Heim’s being a grand slam that ended the game.

Heim was 1-for-4 with a run scored and four RBIs, and McGill went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs while also adding a double.

Also for Cochranton, Kailyn Rose was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, three runs scored, and two RBIs, Taytum Hacons was 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, two RBIs, and four runs scored, Brooke Needler was 2-for-2 with a run scored, and an RBI and Dani Hoffman was 2-for-2 with a walk, and three runs scored.

Keelie Schneider had a pair of RBIs for Cranberry, while Oliva Plummer went 1-for-2 with a run scored, and an RBI.

Plummer took the loss going ⅔ of an inning allowing four earned runs on three hits and a walk. Alisha Beggs pitched 2 ⅓ innings allowing 10 runs, eight earned, one nine hits and two walks while striking out one, and McKaylah Smith pitched ⅔ of an inning allowing five earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out two.
