Three-Peat: Hickory Girls Continue Dominance, Capture Another PIAA Class 2A Title Powered by Hunter’s Station Golf Club

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – District 10 golf – it just means more.

The Hickory girls’ golf team rolled to its third consecutive PIAA Class 2A team title on Wednesday at Penn State’s White Course with a team total of 220 (+4), 25 strokes ahead of second-place finisher and fellow District 10 competitor, Fairview.

Hickorys’ crown comes on the heels of North East’s Anna Swan winning the Class 2A girls’ individual title on Tuesday.

Sasha Petrochko shot a one-under 71 to lead the way for Hickory, while Ava Liburdi shot a 73 and Luciana Masters a 76.

            

The 220 total was 16 shots better than the 236 they won with last year.

Petrochko and Liburdi both had four birdies on their round on Wednesday.

For Fairview, Cora Hirz shot a 77 to lead the way with a pair of birdies. Abby Benz shot an 83 and Moira Erhartic an 85.

Greensburg Central Catholic was third with a team score of 273, followed by Central Valley at 298 and Westmont Hilltop at 315.

In the Class 2A boys championship, Clarion finished fourth with a team total of 317 (+29). Devon Lauer shot a 73, Kameron Kerle a 75, James Keenen an 84 and Lucas Mitrosky an 85.

                          

Grove City, meanwhile, was fifth at 331 (+43). Issac Allan and Trent Nemec both shot 79s, while Logan Goodrich shot an 85 and Cody Hamilton an 88.

McDowell had a team score of 258 (+42) to finish sixth in the Class 3A girls race, led by Alexis Marsh’s 79. Peters Township won the title at 231 (+15).
