Soft: Kulbatsky Fans 14 as DCC Edges ECC; Williammee Tosses 5-inning No-No for NoPo Powered by N. Washington Rodeo

DUBOIS, Pa. – Rylee Kulbatsky notched 14 strikeouts, tossing a 4-hitter for DuBois Central Catholic in a 3-1 win over Elk County Catholic.

“I would say my changeup and rise were working very well today, and my curveball,” Kulbatsky said. “Just mixing those in and knowing when to throw them and when not to.”

DCC struck first in the bottom of the third, and did its damage with two outs.

After Mourer got a flyout and a groundout, DCC’s Lauren Davidson tripled with two outs. Kali Franklin followed with a lined single up the middle to make it 1-0.

                          

The Cardinals notched two more runs in the fourth. Lydia Morgan led off the inning with a double and Kayley Risser walked. Kulbatsky sacrificed them to second and third, setting up Lexi Berta.

Berta hit a lined shot off the glove of Mourer that deflected to shortstop Lucy Klawuhn, who made a nice play to get an out at first base, but Morgan crossed the plate to make it 2-0. Kierra Foster followed with a line drive single to right to make it 3-0.

Elk County Catholic pitcher Emily Mourer allowed three runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking two.

ECC finally broke through against Kulbatsky in the seventh. With one out, Mourer singled up the middle and Mya Pistner brought in ECC’s first and only run with an RBI single.

               

Kulbatsky got her 13th and 14th strikeouts to end the game.

Mourer and Lucy Klawuhn, who hit a double in the game, were the only two ECC hitters not to strike out against Kulbastky.

NORTHERN POTTER 12, SMETHPORT 0, 5 INNINGS

ULYSSES, Pa. – Jaylyn Williammee tossed a five-inning no-hitter to lead Northern Potter to a 12-0, five-inning win over visiting Smethport.

Williammee allowed three walks and struck out 13.

Taylor Knowles hit a grand slam for the Lady Panthers and was 1-for-1 with two walks, two runs scored, and four RBIs.

Emma Haynes also drove in a pair of runs and scored a run while walking once, Riley Knowles was 2-for-2, and Zoe White was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Williammee helped herself by going 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Tylar Colley took the loss going four innings allowing 12 runs, 11 earned, on 12 hits and seven walks while striking out three.

KANE 17, BROCKWAY 11

            

BROCKWAY, Pa. – A seven-run sixth inning helped Kane break open a close game on its way to a 17-11 road win over Brockway.

The Lady Wolves led 10-9 going to the sixth but sent 12 batters to the plate in the inning and took advantage of two bases-loaded walks and three run-scoring errors to plate the seven runs.

Kane did have 17 hits in the game led by Leah Tigani going 3-for-5 with a double, a walk, an RBI, and three runs scored.

Olivia Bell drove in three runs for the Lady Wolves going 2-for-6 with a pair of runs scored, while Kylie Iak was also 3-for-5 with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Maya Smith added a 2-for-3 day for Kane with a double and three runs scored, Cadence Carlson-Maybury drove in four runs while going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Elizabeth Yasurek was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBis.

Sophia Schmader paced Brockway on offense going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored, while Isabella Patton was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, and Eliza Powell went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Tigani got the win going seven innings allowing 11 runs, seven earned, on 11 hits, two walks, and two hit batters while striking out five.

Bailee Carberry took the loss allowing 12 runs, nine earned, on 16 hits and six walks while striking out seven.

CRANBERRY 14, FOREST AREA 4, 6 INNINGS

TIONESTA, Pa. – Using an eight-run sixth inning, Cranberry put away Forest Area, 14-4 in six innings at West Forest.

The Berries, who trailed 4-0 after two innings, led 6-4 going to the sixth before invoking the Mercy Rule with the eight-run inning.

Cassie Scarbrough and Haylie Gregory each drove in three runs for the Berries with Scarbrough hitting a home run while going 1-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored and Gregory adding a double while going 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Rylee Coe was also 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI for Cranberry.

Alexa Carll was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for Forest Area while Brooke Felleti was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Faith Dietrich was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Coe, the third Cranberry pitcher, got the win going 5 ⅓ innings allowing two hits and a walk while striking out nine and hitting a batter.

Izzy Flick took the loss going 4 ⅔ innings allowing six runs, three earned, on three hits, five walks, and three hit batters. She struck out three.

REDBANK VALLEY 13, KEYSTONE 5

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Braylee Yeany drove in five runs to help Redbank Valley get its first win of the season, 13-5, over visiting Keystone.

Yeany hit a home run and a double while going 4-for-5 with a pair of runs scored.

Izzy Bond also went deep for the Lady Bulldogs and was -2for-4 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Bella Orr added a 3-for-4 afternoon with a double, a walk, three runs scored, and three RBIs in the win, Samantha Bowser was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI, and three runs scored, and Keyauna Schmip went 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Emilee Dixon was 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs for Keystone while Emma Gruber was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Mackenzie Foringer got the win going seven innings allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits and six walks while striking out 13.

Bella Brandon took the loss allowing 13 runs, six earned, on 12 hits, eight walks, and a hit batter while striking out five.

KARNS CITY 21, MONITEAU 10

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Tied at eight with rival Moniteau, Karns City exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the fourth on its way to a 21-10 win over the Lady Warriors.

The Lady Gremlins sent 17 batters to the plate in the fateful fourth with Lyrik Reed and Jada Polczynski each delivering a pair of RBI hits in the inning.

Reed had an RBI single in her first at-bat of the frame before having another RBI base knock her second time up, while Polczynski had a two-run single in her first at-bat and an RBI double in her second AB of the inning.

Bailee O’Donnell and Addison Burrows each added a two-run double in the fourth.

Polczynski had a big day going 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, two runs scored, and four RBIs.

Reed was also 4-for-4 with a walk, two RBIs, and five runs scored, while Aubrey Taylor went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Nicole Taylor added a double and a triple for Karns City while going 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored, and three RBIs, and Nicole Huff hit a home run and was 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Burrows got the win going five innings allowing 10 runs, five earned, on eight hits, eight walks, and a hit batter. She struck out two.

Addy Williams and Danilyn Wallace each had doubles for Moniteau with Williams going 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI and Wallace going 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI.

Mariska Shunk was also 2-for-2 with two walks, an RBI, and three runs scored for the Lady Warriors with Lily Staab going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Shunk took the loss pitching 3 ⅓ innings giving up 15 runs, 11 earned, on 10 hits, seven walks, and a hit batter. She struck out three.

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 6, PUNXSUTAWNEY 2

PHILIPSBURG, Pa. – Payton Barnett hit a home run and drove in three to help Philipsburg-Osceola to a 6-2 win over visiting Punxsutawney.

Barnett was 1-for-4 with a run scored while Macie Bush was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Nora Burns was 2-for-4.

That was more than enough for Alivia Bizzari, who picked up the win going seven innings allowing two earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out 10.

Brooke Young hit a home run for Punxsutawney and was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Brinley Hallman took the loss going five innings allowing three earned runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out seven.

CAMERON COUNTY 15, GALETON 2, 5 INNINGS

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Elyse Uble drove in six runs to lead Cameron County to a 15-2, five-inning win over visiting Galeton.

Cailtyn Palumbo also drove in two runs and was the winning pitcher for the Lady Raiders.
