“We had a couple of good days of practice before this game,” Redbank Valley’s Izzy Bond, who was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game said on the Cole Orthondotic Associates Postgame Interview. “We were all working hard. We were all really motivated this game because we all wanted that top seed in the KSAC. We played really well as a team. We just got it done.”

Redbank Valley (13-2 overall, 7-0 KSAC), winners of six in a row, wasted little time showing who the top dog was taking a 17-5 lead at the end of the first quarter then outscoring North Clarion (13-3, 6-1), which saw its 10-game win streak end, 27-11 in the second quarter to take a 28-point, 44-16, halftime lead.

“It was very important to have such a good start,” Redbank Valley head coach Chris Edmonds said. “We had two great days of practice. The girls were really looking forward to this game. So they wanted a challenge. I told them it was a matter of playing fast, playing aggressive, getting into the passing lanes and going back to some of the basketball we have been playing the last couple of years.”

Redbank Valley did all of that.

The Lady Bulldogs used their superior guard speed thanks to Mylee Harmon and Addy Bond to get a number of fast-break opportunities in building the lea.d

Addy Bond had 12 of her 14 points before halftime, and Harmon added 15 of her 25 in the opening 16 minutes.

Izzy Bond, who did a lot of little things to help Redbank Valley to the victory, thenm scored eight of her 13 points in the third quarter including a big 3-pointer at the end of the quarter after North Clarion had gotten within 21 late in the quarter.

Kira Bonnano added 12 points in the win.

Ainsley Hartle led North Clarion with 16 points with Lily Homan adding 13 points and Akeela Greenawalt nine.
