Karns City Holds Off Brookville; West Middlesex Wins in Overtime; Coudy Rallies Past OV

The Lady Gremlins (10-6) trailed, 23-21, going to the fourth quarter, and Brookville (6-8) still led, 27-26, in the final quarter.

                                      

Karns City, though, went on a quick 6-0 spurt to take a 32-27 lead and never trailed after that.

The Lady Raiders did have a chance at the end of the game, down one, getting the ball back with 24.4 seconds left following a five-second call on Karns City.

But Brookville struggled to get a good look before Whitney Guth’s baseline runner from about 16 or 17 feet was too long.

Brooklynn Taylor led the Lady Gremlins with 15 points with Naomi Vanesky adding 11.

Eden Wonderling had a game-high 19 points for Brookville.

                          

WEST MIDDLESEX 43, MERCER 40, overtime

MERCER, Pa. – Emma Mild scored seven points in overtime to lead West Middlesex to a 43-40 Region 1 win over Mercer.

The Big Reds (13-3 overall, 6-2 Region 1) trailed 29-20 going to the fourth quarter, going on an 11-2 run to force overtime.

Caitlin Stephens knocked down a pair of free throws with 45 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 31.

Stephens had a big game for Middlesex, scoring 18 points and pulling down 11 rebounds, with Mild adding 10 points.

Zoey Sidel had 11 points for Mercer (10-5, 5-3), while Anna Allen had 10 and Ava Godfrey nine.

COUDERSPORT 37, OSWAYO VALLEY 34

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Down three going to the fourth quarter, Coudersport got eight points from Sierra Myers to rally past visiting Oswayo Valley, 37-34, in NTL action.

The Lady Falcons (8-4 overall, 7-2 NTL) trailed 24-21 going to the fourth quarter before Myers hit a pair of baskets and went 4 of 4 from the free-throw line.,

Coudersport shot 8 of 13 from the line in the fourth quarter to help complete the comeback.

                                   

Myers had a big game in the win with 19 points, nine rebounds, and four steals.

Olivia FInk added nine points and nine rebounds for the Lady Falcons.

Oswayo Valley (10-7, 6-6) got 13 points from Layken Enty and eight from Charlotte Austin-Keech.

HICKORY 41, SHARON 39

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Trailing 34-28 going to the fourth quarter, Hickory went on a 13-5 run to rally for a 41-39 Region 4 win over Sharon.

Lauren Harkness knocked down a big triple in the fourth quarter for Hickory (5-12 overall, 4-3 Region 4), while Zamaya Smith, Mya Odem, Kimora Roberts and Mariah Swanson all had buckets as well in the fourth.

Swanson had a big game, scoring 19 points, while Harkness and Roberts had nine each.

Jamoria Crumby had 12 points and Tay Chester 10 for Sharon (9-5, 3-4).

SMETHPORT 44, CAMERON COUNTY 36

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Payton Neff, Jaidyn Goodman, and Elizabeth Hungiville led Smethport to a 44-36 NTL win over visiting Cameron County.

A big second half was the difference for the Lady Hubbers (3-11 overall, 2-7 NTL), as they outscored Cameron County (3-13, 3-9) 33-22 after halftime.

Neff led Smethport with a game-high 12 points to go with three assists, Goodman added 11 points, nine rebounds, and two steals, and Hungiville had 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals, and four blocks.

Elsie Bresslin paced Cameron County with 10 points with Milla Magaro chipping in eight.

JAMESTOWN 29, COMMODORE PERRY 24

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Ivy Riley scored 16 points as Jamestown earned a 29-24 win over Commodore Perry in Region 1 play.

                                  

Jamestown (5-8 overall, 2-5 Region 1) led 15-13 at halftime and 20-15 after three quarters.

Riley hit four triples and scored 13 of her 16 points in the second half, while Alayna Cadman added nine points in the win.

Skyleigh McCloskey scored 10 points for Commodore Perry (0-15, 0-8) and Marley Meyer added eight.

CLARION 65, CLARION-LIMESTONE 35

CLARION, Pa. – Clarion ran its win streak to five in a row with a Mercy Rule victory, 65-35, over rival Clarion-Limestone.

The Lady Cats (10-6 overall, 5-2 KSAC) were up by just one, 13-12, after the first quarter against a C-L team playing its fourth game in four nights.

But the lead grew to 10, 28-18, by halftime and to 20, 43-23, going to the fourth quarter.

Sophie Babington drilled seven 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 21 points for Clarion, while Taylor Alston added 14 points, Marley Kline 11 tallies, and Gia Babington nine points.

Hannah Beggs led C-L (5-12, 2-6) with 11 points.

FAIRVIEW 46, HARBOR CREEK 18

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Paige Garrity scored 17 points as Fairview powered past Harbor Creek 46-18 in Region 6 action to win their tenth consecutive game.

Bre Heidt was also in double figures for Fairview (13-4 overall, 4-2 Region 6) with 10 points and Riley Sholes added six.

Garrity knocked down five 3’s.

Brooke Przybylski and Georgia Weber had four points each for Harbor Creek (9-6, 3-4).

MERCYHURST PREP 63, GIRARD 11

GIRARD, Pa. – Olivia Kulyk scored 16 points as Region 3 leader Mercyhurst Prep picked up a 63-11 win over Girard.

Ten different Mercyhurst Prep (13-2 overall, 8-2 Region 3) players scored in the win.

Cassidy Netkowicz added 12 points and Seana Thrower and Mari Nixon eight each for the Lakers.

Carmella Hanson had five points for Girard (2-13, 2-6).

SAEGERTOWN 46, ROCKY GROVE 18

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Lindsey Greco scored 19 points as Saegertown powered past Rocky Grove in Region 2 action, 46-18.

Lyndzee Amory added 11 points for Saegertown (8-9 overall, 4-3 Region 2), which led 31-9 at halftime, while Layilah Drakes chipped in with nine.

Rae Montgomery had nine points for Rocky Grove (6-9, 0-7).

WARREN 48, CORRY 30

CORRY, Pa. – Warren outscored Corry 18-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 48-30 Region 5 win.

Sammie Ruhlman, Alana Stuart and Peyton Wotorson scored four points each for Warren (10-4 overall, 4-0 Region 5) in the fourth quarter.

Ruhlman led a balanced Warren effort with 13 points, while Halle Kuzminski netted 10, Meea Irwin eight, and Stuart seven.

Halle Albers and Hailey Mumau scored 12 points each for Corry (7-8, 2-2).

PUNXSUTAWNEY 47, DUBOIS 22

DUBOIS, Pa. – A career-high 17 points from Olivia Burkett helped visiting Punxsutawney beat DuBois, 47-22, in D9 League action.

Burkett added four steals.

Natalie Burkett chipped in eight points, three assists, five rebounds, and two steals for the Lady Chucks (13-2 overall, 5-1 D9 League), who were playing without Danielle Griebel, while Avary Powell added nine points and 10 rebounds.

Emily McMahon, taking over at the point for Griebel, dished out seven assists and also had five steals, four rebounds, and three points.

Audrey Kennis led DuBois (2-12, 1-4) with nine points with Lynx Lander adding six points.

MONITEAU 47, FOREST AREA 37

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Building a 12-point halftime lead, visiting Moniteau picked up a 47-37 KSAC win over Forest Area at East Forest.

The Lady Warriors (13-5 overall, 4-3 KSAC) led 27-19 at the break and 41-27 going to the fourth quarter.

Catherine Kelly led the way for Moniteau with 17 points with Sophia Fleeger adding seven. Cheyenne Curl had four points and seven rebounds.

Kaylie Rooke dropped a career-high 24 points for Forest Area (7-10, 1-6) while adding eight rebounds and eight blocks.

Faith Dietrich also had a career-best 10 points for the Fires while grabbing eight rebounds.

PORT ALLEGANY 46, NORTHERN POTTER 34

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – A 21-12 second-quarter advantage lifted first-place Port Allegany to a 46-34 win over visiting Northern Potter in NTL action.

The Lady Gators (13-4 overall, 11-1 NTL) led 9-5 at the end of the first quarter but got 14 second-quarter points from Kayleigha Dowell to take a 30-17 halftime lead.

Dowel scored 17 of her game-high 18 points before halftime and finished off a double-double with 10 rebounds. She also added five steals, three assists, and two blocked shots.

Ella Moses added 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two blocks for Port Allegany, while Jenna Renner had four points and 10 rebounds.

Molly Caddy paced Northern Potter (8-7, 5-5) with 11 points while Haylee Chapman added seven points and four steals. Kayden Brown contributed four points, five rebounds, and four steals.

OTTO-ELDRED 54, GALETON 11

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Led by 13 points from Rayel Hakes, Otto-Eldred cruised to a 54-11 home NTL win over Galeton.

Carrie Drummond added 10 tallies for the Lady Terrors (11-6 overall, 9-4 NTL), who had nine different players scores, while Ayla Van Scoter had eight points and Addie Bell seven points.

Lynlee Basile led Galeton (0-16, 0-12) with eight points.

Union/A-C Valley at Cranberry – The game was postponed with 1:22 left in the second quarter due to unsafe floor conditions with Cranberry leading 19-13. It will be resumed at a later date to be announced

GLENDALE 47, CURWENSVILLE 14

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – In ICC North action, Glendale, with just five players dressed, got 27 points from Madison Peterson to pick up a 47-14 road win at Curwensville.

Brielle McMillan added 14 points for the Vikings (5-13 overall, 3-5 ICC North).

Briah Peoples led Curwensville (0-15, 0-7) with five points with Addison Butler adding four tallies.

MAPLEWOOD 63, YOUNGSVILLE 17

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Madison O’Hara led three Maplewood players in double figures with 16 points as the Tigers stayed atop the Region 2 standings with a 63-17 win over Youngsville.

Maplewood (14-3 overall, 7-0 Region 2), which has won 12 of its last 13 games, led 43-5 at halftime on its way to the win.

Savannah O’Hara tallied 14 points and Rhaelyn Koelle 11 for the Tigers.

Zaylee Cressey had 11 points for Youngsville (5-11, 1-6).

LAKEVIEW 54, FARRELL 32

STONEBORO, Pa. – Emma Marsteller connected for 21 points as Lakeview picked up a 54-32 Region 1 victory over Farrell.

Lakeview (8-8 overall, 6-2 Region 1) led 33-21 at halftime on its way to the win, allowing just 11 points in the second half.

Marsteller also had two rebounds and two steals, while Kyndra Seddon had 12 points and eight boards and Leigha Marsteller 11 points and four rebounds.

Damerra Thomas had 17 points and seven rebounds for Farrell (5-9, 3-5), while Ja’niya Daniels had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

WILMINGTON 68, SHARPSVILLE 38

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Lia Krarup led four Wilmington players in double figures with 15 points in a 68-38 Region 4 win over Sharpsville.

A 20-9 run in the second quarter allowed Wilmington (13-4 overall, 6-1 Region 4) to take a 29-16 halftime advantage.

Maya Jeckavitch had 11 points for the Greyhounds, while Sarah Dieter and Reese Bruckner tallied 10 each.

GROVE CITY 43, GREENVILLE 28

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City continued its winning ways, picking up its 11th consecutive victory, 43-28 over Greenville.

Izzie Gamble led Grove City (13-4 overall, 7-0 Region 4) with 17 points, including eight in the third quarter as the Eagles took a commanding 39-12 lead.

Maddie Osborne and Lola Kolbe scored eight points each for Grove City.

Josie Hart paced Greenville (7-10, 0-7) with 12 points.

GENERAL MCLANE 43, FORT LEBOEUF 34

EDINBORO, Pa. – Tied 30-30 going to the fourth quarter, General McLane outscored Fort LeBoeuf 13-4 over the final eight minutes to nab a Region 6 victory.

Ramey Plouse scored five of her 11 points in the fourth quarter for the Lancers (8-9 overall, 3-4 Region 6), while Libby Opp went 4-of-6 from the charity stripe.

Opp and Plouse both finished with 11 points for GM, while Bella Dibble tallied eight.

Jillian Soder scored 13 points for Fort LeBoeuf (3-13, 0-7), with Maggie Lemock adding nine and Haylee Will eight.

NORTHWESTERN 50, NORTH EAST 22

ALBION, Pa. – Makayla Presser-Palmer scored 20 points to power Northwestern to a 50-22 Region 3 win over North East.

Leading 20-11 at halftime, Northwestern (13-3 overall, 7-1 Region 3) outscored North East 30-11 in the second half.

Taylor Stagl and Rylee Schwartz netted eight points apiece for the Wildcats.

Gigi Gaston had 13 points for North East (10-6, 5-3).

FRANKLIN 51, MEADVILLE 23

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Franklin built a 21-10 lead after the first quarter on its way to a 51-23 Region 5 win over Meadville.

Katie Boal led a balanced Franklin (10-6 overall, 2-2 Region 5) effort with 12 points, all of them coming in the first half.

Kiersten Hicks added 10 points and Jenn Blum eight for the Knights.

Megan Puelio had 12 points for Meadville (0-14, 0-4).

CATHEDRAL PREP 49, ERIE 22

ERIE, Pa. – Addie Biel led three Cathedral Prep players in double figures with 19 points in a 49-22 Region 6 triumph against Erie High.

Biel was 7-of-10 from the charity stripe, and the Ramblers collectively were 13-of-17.

Lena Walz added 14 points and Jayden McBride 10 for Prep (11-2 overall, 7-0 Region 6).

Kzjia Green had seven points and Draya Neavins six for Erie (12-5, 4-3).

CONNEAUT 47, OIL CITY 34

OIL CITY, Pa. – Lainie Harrington had a monster game with 31 points and 17 rebounds to power Conneaut to a 47-34 Region 5 road victory against Oil City.

Conneaut (11-4 overall, 4-0 Region 5) led 26-24 going to the fourth quarter, outscoring the Oilers 21-10 in the fourth quarter.

Harrington scored 13 of her points in the fourth quarter, including 9-of-13 from the free throw line.

BreAnne Dendis had nine rebounds for CASH, while Hannah Brady had three blocks and Morgan Poff four assists and three steals.

Peyton Liederbach had 18 points for Oil City (7-9, 0-4).

UNION CITY 47, COCHRANTON 45

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Union City outscored Cochranton 15-11 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 47-45 Region 2 win.

UC (8-9 overall, 5-2 Region 2) trailed 34-32 going to the fourth, but got seven points from Cathryn Reynolds in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Brooke Wienczkowski added nine points for the Bears, while Cheyenne Cummings and Ava Greer had eight apiece.

Eve Pfieffer had 13 points for Cochranton (8-9, 5-2), while Shelby McBryar and Marley Rodax had 11 each.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 96, REYNOLDS 12

TRANSFER, Pa. – Bella Magestro and Layke Fields combined for 51 points in a 96-12 win for Kennedy Catholic over Reynolds.

Magestro poured in 27 points and Fields 24 for the Golden Eagles (12-3 overall, 8-0 Region 1).

Monique Vincent added 17 points and Tori Harvey nine for Kennedy Catholic.

UNION/A-C VALLEY AT CRANBERRY GAME STOPPED IN SECOND QUARTER

SENECA, Pa. – The Union/A-C Valley at Cranberry girls’ basketball game was halted with 1:22 left in the second quarter because of poor court conditions.

Cranberry was leading 19-13 at the time of the stoppage, which came after several players lost their footing on the new court at Cranberry.

The game will resume at a later date to be announced.
