Rewatch the game:

The game was tied, 24-24, at the half after Eisenhower (7-7 overall, 3-5 Region 3) rallied from a 10-point deficit to take the lead late in the quarter. Seneca (11-5, 5-3) responded by ratcheting the defensive pressure in the second half and a 12-2 third-quarter run gave the Bobcats the lead for good.

“We kept the energy up. We knew if we wanted to win we had to keep the energy up,” Seneca’s Abby Hinds said in the Cole Orthodontic Associates postgame interview. “We knew (Clara Steinberg’s) a great player and we knew we had to contain her at the end.”

Eisenhower took a 5-4 lead early in the first quarter, but Seneca answered with a 9-0 run. The Bobcats extended the lead to 10, 19-9, three minutes into the second quarter. This time it was the Knights who answered with a 15-2 run to take a 24-21 lead with less than a minute to play in the half.

Emma Bliel hit a pair of free throws with 20 seconds left, then Hinds was fouled attempting a half-court buzzer-beater. She went 1-3 on that trip to the line to tie it at the half.

“(The region road win) is really important, especially since a lot of teams we split with them,” Hinds said. “We have to make every game count.”

Hinds led the Bobcats with 14 points. Mallory Hammill had 12 points, and Haley Farrell had eight points.

Clara Steinberg had a game-high 18 points for the Knights. Lainey Font had 12 points.
