McDowell Baseball Picks up Win on Spring Trip Powered by N. Washington Rodeo

ATLANTA – Anthony Iacobucci gave up one unearned run in five innings as McDowell picked up a win in its spring trip opener, 6-1 over Harlan County (Ky.).

Iacobucci allowed just four hits, struck out two and walked two.

McDowell scored four runs in the second inning and was paced offensively by Carter Swanson, who was 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI.

Gary Hills was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for the Trojans, while Carter Cross was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Evan Stranko tossed two hitless innings of relief for the Trojans, striking out four and walking three.

   

                  

Tristan Cooper took the loss for Harlan County, allowing six runs in 1 ⅔ innings of work. Alex Creech tossed 4 ⅓ hitless innings for Harlan County, striking out two and walking two.

FRANKLIN-SIMPSON (Ky.) 8, HARBOR CREEK 3

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Franklin-Simpson (Ky.) scored seven runs in the seventh inning, rallying for an 8-3 win over Harbor Creek.

Eight different players drove in one run each for Franklin-Simpson, which

Franklin-Simpson took advantage of five players being hit by a pitch in the seventh inning as well.

                          

Murray State commit Brevin Scott got the complete game win for Franklin-Simpson allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out seven and walking two.

Heath Betza fired six strong innings for Harbor Creek, allowing one run on two hits, striking out 11 and walking four.

Tyler Burick and Tobias Vahey drove in one run each for Harbor Creek.

GREENBRIER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (Va.) 2, HARBOR CREEK 1

               

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Greenbrier Christian Academy (Va.) scored two runs in the fifth inning to push past Harbor Creek, 2-1.

Greenbrier took the lead on a Maleah Hinkens RBI single and a Peyton Moran bases-loaded walk.

Annabella Cipalla had an RBI single in the third inning for Harbor Creek.

Linda Hodge got the complete game win, allowing one run on four hits, striking out 11 and walking two.

Addison Lucas took the loss, allowing two runs in seven innings on four hits, striking out 10 and walking four.
