Kania Throws 1-Hit Shutout as Cambridge Springs Baseball Rolls Past Iroquois; Mercer Softball Tops Karns City

ERIE, Pa. – Brett Kania threw a 1-hit shutout, while the Blue Devils’ offense racked up 10 hits as Cambridge Springs defeated Iroquois, 12-0, in five innings.

Kania was sharp in his five innings, allowing just three walks and striking out 13. He also had a hit and scored two runs.

Josh Gorton led the offense with three hits and scored twice. Tristan Mazzadra had two hits, scored two runs, and drove in a run. Matthew Ross scored three runs and Preston Gorton scored twice.

Hunter Alderson took the loss for Iroquois giving up seven runs, five earned, on six hits with four walks and four strikeouts in 2 ⅓ innings. Ethan Alderson allowed five earned runs on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts in two innings.

MERCER, Pa. – Mercer scored two runs in each of the second and fourth innings on its way to a 5-2 win over Karns City.

Lexie Walker doubled and drove in a pair to lead the Mustangs offense. Emma Stoepfel had a pair of hits and an RBI, and Avry Ryhal had a hit, scored three runs, and drove in a run.

Angelina Eakman twirled a gem in the circle allowing two earned runs on three hits, with four walks, and 15 strikeouts.

                          

Lyrik Reed and Nicole Huff each scored a run for the Lady Gremlins.

Addison Burrows took the loss, allowing five earned runs on nine hits with two walks, and four strikeouts.
