Base: Lutz 3-hit Shutout Leads C-L to 1-0 Win over Moniteau; Bradford Walks Off DuBois; Brookville Edges St. Marys powered by N. Washington Rodeo

BUTLER, Pa. – Logan Lutz tossed a three-hit shutout to lead Clarion-Limestone to a 1-0 win over Moniteau in a non-conference game at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park in Butler.

Lutz walked one and struck out seven while throwing 95 pitches, 62 for strikes.

The game’s lone run came in the third inning when Kohen Kemmer scored Lutz from third base with a sacrifice fly.

Lutz had reached on a fielder’s choice when he failed to get down a bunt with a runner at first and no outs in the inning. He then moved to third on a double to right by Tommy Smith.

                  

Dawson Cook took the loss going 6 ⅓ innings allowing one earned run on five hits and three walks while striking out three.

BRADFORD 6, DUBOIS 5

BRADFORD, Pa. – Evan Whitmore’s suicide squeeze bunt single scored Talan Reese from third, as Bradford walked off DuBois, 6-5, at Pitt-Bradford.

The bunt capped a three-run seventh-inning rally for the Owls, who trailed 6-0 going to the sixth before scoring three times in the sixth and three more in the seventh to win the game.

Lian Haven got the seventh-inning rally started with a double to left before Anthony Lama doubled him home. An out later, Reese tripled to center tying the game before Whitmore’s bunt won it.

                          

Lama was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored, while Haven was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Reese and Whitmore each had a hit an two RBIs with Reese also drawing a walk and scoring a run.

Tarren Reese got the win in relief of Noah Swanson going 3 ⅓ innings scoreless. He allowed one hit while striking out two.

Tyler Chamberlin was 3-for-4 with a run scored for DuBois with Noah Farrell going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Grady Galicznski took the loss going ⅓ of an inning allowing three earned runs on four hits while striking out one.

Chamberlin started and went 5 ⅔ innings allowing three earned runs on three hits, four walks, and two hit batters while striking out 11.

               

BROOKVILLE 5, ST. MARYS 4

ST. MARYS, Pa. – With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Sergio Sotillo induced a groundout to third from Louie Nedzinski, as Brookville held on to beat St. Marys, 5-4, at Berwind Park in St. Marys.

The Raiders led 5-2 going to the sixth before the Dutch scored twice in the sixth to get within a run.

St. Marys then got a one-out double from Jackson Vollmer in the seventh followed by a walk, a lineout, and another walk bringing up Nedzinski, who fouled off two pitches before grounding out on a 1-2 pitch to end the game.

Ladd Blake went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBIs to lead the Brookville offense while Sam Krug was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Jack Pete went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored.

Krug got the win going five innings allowing two earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight.

Sotillo got the save going two innings allowing two earned runs on three hits and three walks.

Ben Reynolds was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored for St. Marys.

Reynolds took the loss going 2 ⅓ innings allowing five earned runs on six hits and a hit batter.

            

PORT ALLEGANY 7, OTTO-ELDRED 3

ELDRED, Pa. – Scoring all seven of its runs after two outs in the fifth, Port Allegany picked up a 7-3 road win over Otto-Eldred.

The Gators were down 2-0 going to the fifth and had two on with two outs when three singles, a double, an error, and a fourth single helped them score the seven runs.

Kellen Veilleux led the way for Port Allegany going 3-for-4 with a run scored while Derek Smith was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and two RBIs. Tyler Fillhart added a 2-for-4 day with a run scored and two RBIs.

Levi Howard got the win going four innings allowing two earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out six.

Smith got the save going three innings allowing an earned run on two hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out four.

Hunter App was 2-for-3 for Otto-Eldred.

Zach Shuessler took the loss going 4 ⅔ innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on 11 hits, a walk, and a hit batter while striking out three.

SMETHPORT 10, OSWAYO VALLEY 7

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Boe Kirkman and Logan Hulburt each drove in two runs to lead Smethport to a 10-7 home win over Oswayo Valley.

Kirkman went 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored with Hulburt going 1-for-4.

Bennett Harris also scored two runs for the Hubbers while going 1-for-1 with a double, three walks, and an RBI.

Brentton McDowell got the win in relief of Cole Szuba going five innings allowing five runs, one earned, on six hits and a walk while striking out 10.

Szuba went two innings allowing two earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two.

Luke Karr was 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs for Oswayo Valley while Ethan Hackman was 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI, and Isaiah Goode was 1-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Hackman took the loss going 2 ⅓ innings allowing five earned runs on five hits, four walks, and a hit batter while striking out one.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 5, KANE 0

MT. JEWETT, Pa. – Brayden Fox tossed a three-hit shutout to lead visiting DuBois Central Catholic to a 5-0 win over Kane in Mt. Jewett.

Fox struck out seven and walked three while tossing 61 of his 90 pitches for strikes.

Blake Pisarcik led the Cardinal offense going 1-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and two RIs.

Fox was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored, while Aiden Snowberger was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored.

Carter Himes also went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI for DCC.

Phinn Chamberlain went 2-for-3 for Kane.

Brock Wensel took the loss going three innings allowing three earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five.

CLARION 12, CRANBERRY 0, 5 INNINGS

SENECA, Pa. – Scoring 11 of its runs in the first two innings, visiting Clarion cruised past Cranberry, 12-0, in five innings.

Derek Smail’s monster two-run home run in the top of the first, which gave the Bobcats a 4-0 lead, highlighted a six-run first inning for Clarion. The shot was a moon-raker to left-center where the outfielders didn’t even move.

Clarion then scored five more times in the second with Noah Harrison, who had a two-run single in the first, adding an RBI single in the second.

Harrison, who also pitched two scoreless innings of relief allowing a hit while striking out five, was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game after going 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and three RBIs.

Dawson Smail was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored for the Bobcats, while Bryce Brinkley went 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored. Tanner Miller was also 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored, and Daunte Girvan went 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

Three Clarion pitchers combined to one-hit Cranberry.

Miller started and went two perfect innings striking out four before Devon Lauer went a perfect third striking out the side. Harrison then finished off.

Seth DeLoe had the lone hit for Cranberry, a one-out single in the fifth.

Cole Findlay took the loss going 1 ⅔ innings allowing 11 runs, all earned, on nine hits and five walks while striking out two.

Aiden Ward settled things down for the Berries on the mound going 3 ⅓ innings allowing one earned run on two hits and three walks while striking out three.

BROCKWAY 7, ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 1

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Dylan Bash’s pitching and Andrew Brubaker’s hitting lifted Brockway to a 7-1 win over visiting Elk County Catholic.

Bash went six innings allowing one run on three hits while striking out three. He threw just 70 pitches, 52 for strikes.

Ben Yale finished off with a scoreless inning of relief for the Rovers walking one.

Brubaker, meanwhile, went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a walk, a run scored, and four RBIs.

Chad Young added a 1-for-3 day with a walk and two RBIs for Brockway, while Yale was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Colby Nussbaum went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored for ECC.

Lance O’Neill took the loss failing to record an out. He gave up three runs, one earned, on three hits and a walk.

CLEARFIELD 8, CENTRAL-MARTINSBURG 3

MARTINSBURG, Pa. – O’Brian Owens dove in three runs to help Clearfield to an 8-3 road win over Central-Martinsburg.

Owens was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.

Hunter Rumsky added a pair of RBIs for the Bison going 1-for-4, while Cole Bloom scored twice.

Elijah Quick got the win going four innings allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits, three walks, and a hit batter.

Christian Welker picked up the save going three scoreless, hitless innings. He walked one and hit a batter.

CAMERON COUNTY SWEEPS NORTHERN POTTER

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Cameron County swept visiting Northern Potter in a doubleheader winning 7-0 and 16-3 in six innings.

In the first game, Jesop Farabaugh tossed a three-hit shutout walking five and striking out six.

Ryan Shaffer led the Red Raider offense going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, a run scored, and an RBI.

Jake Narby scored twice after walking twice, while Lathan Reed was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Conhar Snyder took the loss going five innings allowing five runs, three earned, on four hits and five walks while striking out three.

Noah Cady was 2-for-3 for the Panthers while Ty Daniels was 1-for-3 with a double.

In the second game, Narby and Josh Beer each drove in three runs for Cameron County.

Narby was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored with Beer also scoring a run.

Shaffer scored five times out of the leadoff spot for the Red Raiders going 2-for-3 with a triple and two walks, while Maddox Baughman was 1-fo-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Farabaugh also went 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs in the win.

Treyton Tucker got the win going 5 ⅔ innings allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits and six walks while striking out three.

Daniels had another double for Northern Potter and was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Black Risser was also 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI for the Panthers.

Wyatt Bliss took the loss going four innings giving up nine runs, five earned, on five hits, three walks, and three hit batters. He struck out two.

KARNS CITY 10, KEYSTONE 0, 5 INNINGS

BUTLER, Pa. – Troy Nagel went 3-for-3 with three RBIs to help lift Karns City to a 10-0, five-inning win over visiting Keystone at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park in Butler.

Jacobn Jones added a double and a triple while scoring twice for the Gremlins, while Mason Sherwin was 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Adam Manuel also went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored for Karns City with Hobie Bartoe going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RI.

Sherwin and Jones combined to three-hit Keystone with Sherwin getting the win going four innings allowing two hits while striking out three. Jones gave up a hit while striking out the side in his inning of relief.

Aiden Tharan was 2-for-3 for Keystone.

Drew Keth took the loss going 4 ⅔ innings allowing 10 runs, eight earned, on 11 hits and a hit batter. He struck out three.

BOLIVAR-RICHBURG (N.Y.) 9, COUDERSPORT 1

BOLIVAR, N.Y. – Aydin Sisson drove in three runs to lead Bolivar-Richburg (N.Y.) to a 9-1 win over visiting Coudersport.

Sisson was 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk, and a run scored.

Landon Barkley got the win going seven innings allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out 12.

Mason Roessner was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Coudersport.

Mitchell Taylor added a 1-for-2 day with a triple, a walk, and run scored for the Falcons.

Taylor took the loss going 4 ⅓ innings allowing six runs, five earned, on three hits, four walks, and two hit batters while striking out five.
