Beighley’s Season-High Helps Lift Karns City to Huge Win over Redbank Valley; Meadville Upends Sharon

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Using an 11-0 run at the end of the first quarter into the second quarter, Karns City cruised to an 86-77 win at Redbank Valley.

In the non-conference clash between the teams, the Gremlins (12-6) led 23-22 late in the first half when Taite Beighley nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to put Karns City ahead, 26-22, going to the second quarter.

The Gremlins then scored the first eight points of the second quarter to take a 34-22 lead.

Redbank Valley (15-2), which saw its 10-game win streak come to an end, got back within six, 38-32, in the second quarter before Karns City pushed the lead back to nine, 45-36, at halftime.

                                      

The Gremlins then put the lead into the double digits in the third quarter before going as high as 18 with under 3 ½ minutes to play before some late Bulldog threes cut into the margin.

Beighley had a monster game with a season-high 32 points to go with 10 assists and six rebounds. The 32 tallies are the most since he scored 38 as a sophomore against Union on Jan. 27, 2022. It was his third 30-point game of his career with the other being a 31-point effort against Moniteau on Dec. 20, 2022.

Luke Cramer added 16 points and seven rebounds in the win while Jacob Calliahn added 15 points and five rebounds and Shane Peters chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds.

Breckin Minich and Owen Clouse each scored 21 points for Redbank Valley with Minich scoring 14 of his in the fourth quarter.

Mason Clouse chipped in 12 points for the Bulldogs.

                          

MEADVILLE 61, SHARON 47

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Meadville outscored Sharon 17-8 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 61-47 non-region win.

Meadville (9-8 overall), led 29-27 at halftime, getting a game-high 18 points from Lucas Luteran, while Jack Burchard added 16. Burchard now has 962 career points.

Meadville hit six threes in the win, with Tykie Butler knocking down three of them. Butler matched Bruchard with 16 points.

Burchard scored 11 of his 16 points from the charity stripe, going 11-of-12.

Santino Piccirilli led Sharon (14-3) with 14 points, while Mister Ham added 12

JOHNSONBURG 62, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 38

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Leading by just two at halftime, Johnsonburg turned on the jets in the third quarter on its way to a 62-38 win over visiting DuBois Central Catholic in AML action.

The Rams (12-6 overall, 4-2 AML North) led 22-20 at the intermission but outscored DCC (10-8 overall, 5-4 AML South) 24-12 in the third quarter behind 14 points from Luke Zimmerman and eight from Isaiah Jackson.

Zimmerman’s big third quarter helped him score a career-high 24 points to lead Johnsonburg. Jackson chipped in 18 points and Noah Stauffer had nine.

Marek Hoyt paced DCC with 18 points, but Johnsonburg limited the Cardinals’ leading scorer, Andrew Green, who came into the night averaging 20.6 ppg, to a season-low five points, all in the first quarter.

Luke Fragle added eight tallies for DCC, and Brayden Fox had seven.

GALETON 57, OSWAYO VALLEY 45

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.- Zach Pagano scored 15 points to lead a balanced Galeton effort in a 57-45 road NTL win over Oswayo Valley.

Braiden Cimino and Corey Anderson each scored 12 points for the Tigers (8-9 overall, 7-6), who kept alive their NTL playoff hopes with the win.

Conner Resig paced Oswayo Valley (2-14, 2-12) with 16 points with Nik Bonney adding 1 tallies.

CAMERON COUNTY 69, NORTHERN POTTER 31

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Josh Smith continued his torrid pace of late with 29 points to lead Cameron County to a 69-31 win over visiting Northern Potter in NTL action.

Smith has scored 80 points in his last three games, all Red Raider wins.

Ryan Shaffer added 19 points for Cameron County (15-3 overall, 11-2 NTL), who secured an NTL playoff berth with the victory.

Landon Farren also contributed 12 points in the win.

Nolen Smith led Northern Potter (7-12, 5-8) with eight points.
