West Middlesex Rallies to Give Staunch 200th Career Win; Jamestown Beats Y’ville in OT; Forest Area Tops Rocky Grove

West Middlesex coach Mary Jo Staunch picked up her 200th career win on Monday.

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Trailing 46-40 going to the fourth quarter, West Middlesex went on a 20-9 run in the fourth quarter to rally for a 60-55 win over Cochranton for coach Mary Jo Staunch’s 200th career win.

Caitlin Stephens scored 34 points for the Big Reds (10-2) in helping Staunch, who also coached at Sharon, get the milestone win.

Stephens scored 10 of her points in the fourth-quarter rally for West Middlesex.

Emma Mild also had 17 points in the win for West Middlesex, which went 16-of-17 from the charity stripe, including a 10-of-11 effort from Stephens.

                                      

Marley Rodax and Eve Pfeiffer led four Cochranton (7-7) players in double figures with 13 points apiece, while Claire McCartney and Macie Williams had 10 points each.

JAMESTOWN 46, YOUNGSVILLE 44

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Jamestown knocked down six shots from the charity stripe in overtime to earn a 46-44 win over Youngsville.

Jamestown (4-5) trailed 35-28 going to the fourth quarter, but outscored Youngsville (4-9) 10-3 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Ivy Riley knocked down a big 3 in the fourth quarter for Jamestown to help force overtime.

                          

Makayla Williams had 16 points and Alayna Cadman had 14 for Jamestown.

Riley Robinault had 23 points for Youngsville Helman and Molly Helman added nine.

FOREST AREA 48, ROCKY GROVE 41

TIONESTA, Pa. – Putting three players in double digits, Forest Area overcame foul trouble to beat visiting Rocky Grove, 48-41.

The Fires (7-6) played the final 3 ½ minutes without their two leading scorers – Amber Guzzi and Kaylie Rooke – who both fouled out.

But Guzzi had 17 points and five rebounds before having to take a seat on the bench to lead the way in the victory.

Jayden Colvin added 15 points and four steals for Forest Area, and Tori Brown had a career-high 12 points to go with seven rebounds.

Aislynne Anderson had 16 points for Rocky Grove (5-7).

CLEARFIELD 64, PENNS VALLEY 48

SPRING MILLS, Pa. – Building a 19-point halftime lead, Clearfield picked up a 64-48 LHAC East road win over Penns Valley, 64-48.

                                   

The Lady Bison (8-4 overall, 6-3 LHAC East) led 38-19 at the break thanks to 14 points from Cayleigh Walker, nine from Hannah Glunt, and eight from Mia Helsel.

Walker led Clearfield with a season-high 24 points, her second straight game of setting a season-best after recording 20 on Friday night.

Glunt also had a season-high 19 points for the Lady Bison while Helsel added 13 tallies.

Lilly Smith scored 22 points to lead Penns Valley (5-8, 3-6) with Eve Dinges chipping in 11 points.

NORTH EAST 52, FORT LEBOEUF 44

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Jalyssa Wicker and Maisy Post scored 14 points each to lead North East to a 52-44 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

North East (9-4 overall)Region 3 led 24-20 at halftime and outscored Fort LeBoeuf (3-10) 14-10 in the third quarter to take an eight-point lead.

Sam Probst and Gigi Gaston added eight points each for North East.

Jillian Soder had 12 points and Haylee Will had 10 for Fort LeBoeuf.

AUSTIN 36, SMETHPORT 27

AUSTIN, Pa. – Kadence McKeirnan scored eight of her 12 points during a 14-0 second-quarter run for Austin in a 36-27 home NTL win over Smethport.

The Lady Panthers (9-5 overall, 6-3 NTL) trailed 9-7 at the end of the first quarter before taking a 21-9 halftime lead.

McKeirnan added six rebounds in the win.

Isabella Rees led Austin with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds while adding six steals.

Elizabeth Hungiville and Jadyn Goodman each had double-doubles for Smethport (2-11, 1-7).

                                  

Hungiville had 13 points and 18 rebounds while adding six blocked shots, while Goodman contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Payton Neff also had five rebounds, four assists, and two points.

FAIRVIEW 38, MEADVILLE 12

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Fairview led 28-0 at halftime on its way to a 38-12 win over Meadville.

Bre Heidt led a balanced Fairview (10-4) effort with 12 points, while Paige Garrity netted six.

Megan Puleio led Meadville (0-10) with seven points.

WILMINGTON 63, CONNEAUT 33

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Lia Krarup scored 26 points as Wilmington picked up a 63-33 non-region win over Conneaut.

Krarup scored 17 points in the first half for the Greyhounds (9-4), who built a 37-17 halftime advantage.

Avery Harlan added nine points for Wilmington, while Maya Jeckavitch had eight and Alyssa Flick seven.

Hannah Brady had 11 points and Lainie Harrington 10 for CASH (7-4). Brady also had four blocks and two assists, while Harrington had five rebounds and Morgan Poff eight rebounds.

SPIRE INSTITUTE 58, KENNEDY CATHOLIC 50

GENEVA, OHIO – Ndeye Leye scored 17 points to lead powerhouse SPIRE to a 58-50 win over Kennedy Catholic.

Layke Fields had a big game in a losing effort for Kennedy Catholic (7-3) with 27 points to go along with 12 rebounds.

SPIRE jumped out to an 18-7 lead after the first quarter, but Kennedy Catholic rallied to get back within six, 26-20 at halftime. SPIRE then outscored KC 16-12 in the third quarter to regain its double-digit advantage.

Talie Akemi had 14 points for SPIRE, while Dasha Shiskina and Talyah Harris both had 12 points.

Monique Vincent was also in double figures for Kennedy with 10 points, while Tori Harvey added nine.

FRANKLIN 47, MAPLEWOOD 29

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Leading 18-16 at halftime, Franklin outscored Maplewood 29-13 in the second half on its way to a 47-29 win.

Franklin (8-5) had a balanced effort, with four players scoring between nine and 11 points.

Kirsten Hicks scored seven of her 10 points in the third quarter for Franklin, while Halle Curry scored eight of her 10 points in the fourth quarter.

Katie Boal led Franklin with 11 points, while Jamie Blum had nine and Jenn Blum seven.

Savannah O’Hara and Rhaelyn Koelle had nine points each for Maplewood (11-3).

BROOKVILLE 41, JOHNSONBURG 28

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Behind 15 points and 10 rebounds from Eden Wonderling, Brookville overcame a bad shooting night to down visiting Johnsonburg, 41-28.

The two teams combined to shoot 26 of 100 with Brookville (6-5) making 14 of those shots despite taking nearly twice as many as the Ramettes (3-8)

Cadence Brechtel had 12 points and seven rebounds for Johnsonburg with Maria Casilio adding nine points.

SHARON 52, REYNOLDS 26

SHARON, Pa. – Leading by four at halftime, Sharon went on a 19-3 run in the third quarter to pull away for a 52-26 win over Reynolds.

Lacey Root had a game-high 17 points for Sharon (6-4), while Tay Chester had 14 and Taylor Holden eight.

Julie Wade and Hanna Reichert had eight points each for Reynolds (2-11).

ERIE 67, CORRY 24

ERIE, Pa. – Trailing 8-6 after the first quarter, Erie outscored Corry 61-16 over the final three quarters on its way to a 67-24 win.

The Royals (9-4) took a 25-18 halftime lead and outscored the Beavers (6-6) 42-6 in the second half.

Ari Reap led the way for Erie with 18 points, 15 rebounds, five steals and four assists.

Draya Nevins and Deeja Williams were also in double figures scoring for Erie with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Grace Allen led Corry (6-6) with eight points.

CLARION 46, CRANBERRY 27

CLARION, Pa. – Taylor Alston and Sophie Babington combined for 28 points in Clarion’s 46-27 home non-conference win over Cranberry.

Alston led the Lady Cats with a game-high 17 points with Sophie Babington adding 11 points.

Sophie’s older sister, Gia Babington, had nine points in the win for Clarion (6-6).

Haylie Gregory paced Cranberry (3-11) with eight points with Avery Coe adding six.

RIDGWAY 61, CAMERON COUNTY 24

RIDGWAY, Pa. – Jenna Kasmierski drained six 3-pointers on her way to a season-high 26 points, as Ridgway rolled past visiting Cameron County, 61-24.

Kasmieski scored 21 first-half tallies and added eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

Kristen Ellenberger chipped in 11 points and five steals for the Lady Elkers (10-2) while Gabby Amacher dished out seven assists, came away with four steals, and scored seven points.

Cameron County (2-10) got 15 points from Elsie Bresslin.
