Punxsy Boys Rally from 15-point 2nd Half Deficit to Beat St. Marys in OT; Union Clinches KSAC Playoff Spot

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Down 13 at halftime, 15 early in the third quarter, and 12 going to the fourth quarter, Punxsutawney rallied for a 58-54 overtime win at St. Marys in D9 League action.

The Chucks were down 34-21 at the break and 44-32 heading to the fourth quarter but rode the hot hands of Noah Kengersky and Cooper Hallmann to tie the game at 50 by the end of regulation

Hallman hit a pair of fourth-quarter 3-pointers and scored seven of his team-high 13 points in the fourth quarter, while Kengersky scored seven of his nine points in the quarter including hitting a 3-pointer.

In overtime, Punxsutawney trailed 54-53 until Noah Weaver hit a 2-point shot with 34 seconds to give the Chucks a 55-54 lead. Kengersky followed with a layup with 14 seconds left to make it 57-54, and BEau Thomas hit a free throw to ice the game.

                                      

Weaver, Thomas, and Ryen Heigley all joined Kenegersky in scoring nine points.

Tanner Fox and Quin Gavazzi each scored a game-high 16 points for St. Marys with Anthony Nedzinski adding 12 points.

UNION 65, A-C VALLEY 43

FOXBURG, Pa. – Payton Johnston and Zander Laughlin combined for 32 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, and seven steals as Union secured a spot in the KSAC playoffs with a 65-43 win at A-C Valley in KSAC Small School action.

Johnston had 16 points, five assists, four steals, and four rebounds, and Laughlin added 16 points, four rebounds, three steals, and four assists.

                          

Skyler Roxbury chipped in 15 points and four rebounds in the win with Trey Fleming adding 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists.

Alex Preston led A-C Valley with 16 points with Jay Clover scoring 13.

SMETHPORT 53, NORTHERN POTTER 40

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Preston Alfieri scored 19 points to help Smethport to a 53-40 home NTL win over Northern Potter.

Ryan Pelchy added 10 points for the Hubbers with Owen Rounsville adding eight points and Carson Dunn chipping in seven points.

Ty Daniels led Northern Potter with 15 points with Noah Cady and Nolen Smith each adding eight points.

HARMONY 76, CURWENSVILLE 62

WESTOVER, Pa. – Tied at 51 going to the fourth quarter, Harmony exploded for 25 fourth-quarter points to lift the Owls to a 76-62 win over visiting Curwensville.

Jack Bracken scored nine of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter for Harmony.

Cohlton Fry added 24 points for the Owls with Anthony Maseto chipping in 11 points.

                                   

Parker Wood led Curwensville with 18 points, Andrew Wassil scored 12 points, and Chandler English and Davis Fleming each added 11 points.
