McKeirnan Plays Hero with Last-Second Putback for Austin Girls; NoPo Wins in OT; RV Downs NC; DCC Wins

AUSTIN, Pa. – Kadence McKeirnan’s offensive rebound and putback with two seconds left lifted Austin to a 34-32 win over visiting Smethport in NTL action.

Austin led 26-24 going to the fourth quarter only to watch Smethport secure a tie game at 32 apiece thanks to eight fourth-quarter points from Elizabeth Hungiville.

That’s when McKeirnan pulled down her eighth rebound of the game and her third offensive board before scoring her third basket of the contest to hand the Lady Panthers the win.

McKeirnan finished with six points and also added two steals and an assist.

                                      

Lilly Clinger had a career-high 15 points for Austin while adding four rebounds and three steals, and Ella Brewer scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds.

Hungiville scored 24 points for Smethport.

NORTHERN POTTER 36, OSWAYO VALLEY 29, OVERTIME

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Kayden Brown scored all seven of Northern Potter’s overtime points, as the visiting Lady Panthers knocked off Oswayo Valley, 36-29.

The game was tied at 29 at the end of regulation before Brown, who scored one point in regulation, took over in the extra session hitting a 3-pointer, a 2-pointer, and 2 of 5 free throws.

                          

Rebecca Martin led Northern Potter with 11 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals with Reagan Slawson adding nine points, two steals, and four assists.

Brown had a team-best 11 rebounds and a team-leading four helpers, and Kaylee Chapman grabbed 10 boards to go with two points.

]Makenna Manning paced all scorers with 15 points while hauling in eight rebounds for Oswayo Valley. Eva West grabbed six rebounds and scored four points for the Green Wave.

REDBANK VALLEY 54, NORTH CLARION 35

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In a game between KSAC division leaders, Redbank Valley overwhelmed visiting North Clarion in a 54-35 win.

The 19-1 Lady Bulldogs, in first place in the KSAC Large School Division, raced out to a 22-9 lead at the end of the first quarter behind eight points apiece from Alivia Huffman and Mylee Harmon and still led 29-14 at halftime.

Harmon, who added six fourth-quarter points, finished with a game-high 22 points with Harmon scoring 13, 11 before halftime.

Lauren Lutz led North Clairon (18-2), the leaders in the KSAC Small School Division, with 11 points with Lily Homan adding 10.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 56, CLARION 46

CLARION, Pa. – DuBois Central Catholic built a 24-point second-half lead and then held off a furious rally from homestanding Clarion to get a 56-46 win.

                                   

The Lady Cardinals led 40-16 midway through the third quarter and were still up 18, 49-31 with just under 4 ½ minutes to play only to see Clarion get within 9, 55-46, with just under 10 seconds to play after being within 10 with a minute left. In fact, the Lady Cats had two shots following a missed free throw to get within eight but couldn’t get either to go.

Kayley Risser led DCC with 15 points and seven rebounds including 13 second-half points.

Risser was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game and talked about the win.

Lexi Berta added 14 points, including 10 in the first half, for the Lady Cardinals with Faith Jacob chipping in 11 points and Jessy Frank eight points.

Sophie Babington, who hit a pair of fourth-quarter 3-pointers and scored seven points in the quarter, led Clarion with 15 tallies. Taylor Alston added 12, including six in the fourth quarter, and Gia Babington had 11 points. Marley Kline also chipped in six points, all in the fourth, for the Lady Cats.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 47, BROOKVILLE 22

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Tori Newton scored 12 points to help Elk County Catholic to a 47-22 win over visiting Brookville in D9 League action.

Lucy Klawuhn added 11 points and Sami Straub eight for the Lady Crusaders.

Reagan Olson had six points for Brookville.

PORT ALLEGANY 66, CAMERON COUNTY 25

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Ella Moses had 14 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals to help Port Allegany to a 66-25 road NTL win over Cameron County.

Leigha Nelson had a game-high 16 points for the Lady Gators and chipped in four assists, Kayleigha Dowell contributed 12 points, six rebounds, five steals, and three assists, Brynn Evens had eight points and seven rebounds, Jenn Baxter scored eight points, and Evin Stauffer added five points, nine rebounds, and five assists.

                                  

Aubree Lorenzo and Navaeh Spaeth led Cameron County with seven points each.

COUDERSPORT 48, GALETON 6

GALETON, Pa. – Kirsten Denhart had a career-high 10 points to help Coudersport pick up a 48-6 road win over Galeton.

Emma Chambers led the Lady Falcons with 11 points with Sierra Myers and Hallie Rigas each adding seven points.
