CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 16, UNION CITY 2, 5 innings

UNION CITY, Pa. – Walker Cunningham homered and drove in a total of five runs, as Cambridge Springs rolled to a 16-2 win over Union City.

The Blue Devils scored seven runs in both the first and third innings. 

   

                  

Brock Cunningham was 2-for-2 with four RBIs, while Asa Henderson was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Nathan Held 2-for-3 with two runs, and Philip Dragosavac 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs. 

Bryce Kania pitched three innings, giving up two runs on four hits and five walks, striking out five for the Blue Devils. Held came on and pitched two scoreless innings. 

Wyatt Post had an RBI and Shane Uber a double for Union City. 

CATHEDRAL PREP 1, MCDOWELL 0

ERIE, Pa. – Jacob Engel tossed a complete-game shutout to lift Cathedral Prep to a win over rival McDowell. 

                          

Engel allowed just four hits and two walks, striking out seven. 

The Ramblers scored the lone run of the game, with Pat Sullivan driving a bases-loaded walk. 

Dan Snyder was the tough-luck loser for McDowell. He went six innings, allowing three hits and four walks while reaching double-digit strikeouts with 11. 

GENERAL MCLANE 7, CORRY 6

               

EDINBORO, Pa. – Dylan Sheeder’s RBI single in the sixth inning proved to be the game-winner as General McLane beat Corry, 7-6. 

The Beavers and Lancers were tied 5-5, with an error bringing in the sixth run before Sheeder’s base hit. Ross Morrow got a strikeout to end the game with the tying run on second. 

Morrow pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Eric Matthews, allowing one unearned run on zero hits and three walks, striking out four. 

Sheeder drove in two runs, while Jaxson Scrutchins, Matthews, and Alex Beach all drove in runs for the Lancers. 

Lucas Dyne took the loss, allowing two unearned runs in three innings, striking out three, and allowing three hits. 

Nate Lesher went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs for Corry, while Dyne was 2-for-4 with an RBI. 

MERCYHURST PREP 9, NORTHWESTERN 1

ERIE, Pa. – Hayden Zaffino had another big game to help lead Mercyhurst Prep to a 9-1 win over Northwestern. 

Zaffino went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs and also tossed 2 ⅔ perfect innings with six strikeouts. 

The Lakers scored three runs in the third, fifth, and sixth innings. 

            

Joey Colon, Zach Danias, MIke Nelligan, and Jake Manendo all drove in a run each for Mercyhurst Prep. Conor Fitzgerald went 4 ⅓ innings on the mound, allowing four hits and striking out six. 

Jarrod Glasl took the loss, allowing eight runs (six earned) in 5 ⅔ innings, surrendering eight hits, and striking out three. Nathan Timm added an RBI. 

SAEGERTOWN 6, EISENHOWER 3

RUSSELL, Pa. – Saegertown scored four runs in the third inning on its way to a 6-3 win over Eisenhower. 

Landon Caldwell and Anthony Hernandez had RBI singles in the inning, with an error and double-steal bringing in the other two runs. 

Hernandez finished with a pair of RBIs and Foxx Mook one. 

Henry Shaffer got the win, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out six. Chandler Davison tossed a pair of perfect innings in relief. 

Owen Trumbull took the loss, allowing six unearned runs on eight hits, striking out five, and walking two. Kael Hunt tossed a pair of scoreless innings in relief. 

Hunt had a double and a pair of RBIs for Ike. 

SHARPSVILLE 18, LAKEVIEW 1

STONEBORO, Pa. – Sharpsville scored in every inning, including an 8-spot in the fifth on its way to an 18-1 win over Lakeview. 

The Blue Devils belted four home runs in the game, courtesy of Brock Lenzie, Jackson Doyle, Andrew Frye, and Kolten Eckles. 

Lenzi finished with four RBIs, while Doyle and Frye had three each. 

Four Sharpsville pitchers combined on a 1-hitter, with Eli Eckles tossing a pair of scoreless frames. 

GIRARD 4, TITUSVILLE 3, 8 innings 

TITUSVILLE, Pa.  -JJ Lehman’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning proved to be the game-winning run in Girard’s 4-3 win over Titusville. 

The game was tied 1-1 going into the seventh inning, with both teams scoring twice in the seventh to send the game to extras. 

Austin Shady went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Girard, while Todd Essman drove in the other run. 

Austin Shady got the win in relief of Austin Barrett, tossing 1 ⅔ scoreless innings. Barrett allowed two earned runs in 6 ⅓ innings, with one strikeout and seven hits allowed. 

Tyler Durstine was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Titusville. 

Andrew Wheeling took the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) in 1 ⅓ innings. Hunter Thomas was very effective in his start on the mound, allowing one run on six hits and striking out 10. 

GROVE CITY 7, HICKORY 0

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Mason Jones tossed 6 ⅔ dominant innings and John Hake got the final out in a 7-0 win for Grove City over Hickory. 

Jones allowed just three hits and two walks, striking out nine. 

The Eagles scored five runs in the second inning to take control. Isaac Criss, Jones and Michael Brooks all drove in runs in the inning, with the Eagles also taking advantage of five Hickory errors. 

Connor Evans took the loss for Hickory, allowing five runs in two innings on seven walks and three hits. Joey Fazzone came on in relief and allowed two unearned runs. 

FAIRVIEW 6, NORTH EAST 0

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Three Fairview pitchers, led by Sean Houston, combined on a shutout as Fairview beat North East, 6-0. 

Houston allowed just one hit in four innings, striking out four. Anthony Soltis and Aiden Rubilotta finished off the shutout with a combined three shutout frames, allowing one hit and striking out six. 

Logan Fiolek went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the Tigers, while Rubilotta was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Houston and Rubilotta both had doubles. 

Aden Bulger took the loss for North East. He went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks, striking out six.
