Base: Lutz Plays Key Role in C-L Sweep of St. Marys; Carrier One-Hits DCC in Redbank Victory; Swason Strong Outing Gives Bradford Win powered by N. Washington Rodeo

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Getting two strong pitching performances, Clarion-Limestone swept a doubleheader at St. Marys by scores of 4-0 and 5-2.

Tommy Smith and Logan Lutz combined on a five-hit shutout in the 4-0 win with Smith getting the win and Lutz the save.

Smith went 5 ⅔ innings allowing four hits, a walk, and a hit batter. He struck out five.

Lutz went the final 1 ⅓ innings allowing a hit while striking out three.

                  

Both players contributed on offense with Lutz going 1-for-4 with two RBIs and Smith going 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, and a run scored.

Ben Paul took the loss going six-plus innings allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits and four walks while striking out six.

The 5-2 win, saw Lutz, Kohen Kemmer, and Paul Craig combine on a six-hitter.

Lutz started and went two innings allowing an earned run on three hits while striking out two.

Kemmer came in and got the win going four innings allowing an unearned run on three hits and three walks while striking out one.

                          

Craig got the save going a scoreless inning striking out two.

Jake Smith drove in two runs for the Lions while Jack Craig was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Lutz scored twice.

Ben Reynolds was 2-for-4 with a run scored for St. Marys, while Lucas Bauer was 2-for-4 with a double.

Cameron Coudriet took the loss going 5 ⅓ innings allowing five runs, three earned, on five hits and four walks while striking out 12.

REDBANK VALLEY PICKS UP TWO WINS INCLUDING 2-0 SHUTOUT OF DCC

               

DUBOIS, Pa. – Redbank Valley picked up a pair of wins at Stern Field in DuBois beating Forest Area, 15-0, in four innings and then getting a gem from Ty Carrier in a 2-0 win over DuBois Central Catholic.

Starting with the DCC game, the second game, first, Carrier tossed a one-hit shutout walking two and hitting a batter while striking out nine.

He was locked in a scoreless pitcher’s dual with Carter Himes until the sixth when Redbank Valley broke through with both of its runs.

Mason Clouse walked with one out and stole second with two outs before scoring on a Breckin Minich single to left.

Owen Clouse followed with a bunt single, and Carrier then singled home Minich.

Those were three of the six hits for the Bulldogs, including two from Carrier who was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Himes went seven innings allowing two earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six.

Aiden Snowberger had the lone hit for DCC.

The Cardinals did threaten in the bottom of the seventh when Snowberger led off with a walk and Trenton Miller walked with two outs.

            

But Carrier got Brayden Zatsick to ground out to shortstop Braylon Wagner to end the game.

Against Forest Area, Redbank Valley pounced out 13 hits, including triples from Mason Clouse and Minich and doubles from Jaxson Huffman and Cole Lufsey.

Owen Close, meanwhile, went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Lufsey was 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Minich also went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Eli Shaffer was 1-for-1 with two RBIs.

MXX Kozma got the win going three innings of one-hit ball.He hit a batter and struck out four.

BRADFORD 4, PORT ALLEGANY 1

BRADFORD, Pa. – Noah Swanson and Brody Haviland combined on a two-hitter as Bradford beat visiting Port Allegany, 4-1.

Swanson got the win going five innings allowing one earned run on two hits, six walks, and a hit batter. He struck out six.

Haviland picked up the save going two scoreless, hitless innings walking one.

Talan Reese was 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI for Bradford.

Aiden Bliss was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI for Port Allegany.

Derek Smith took the loss going 2 ⅔ innings allowing two unearned runs on a hit and two hit batters while striking out three.

MONITEAU 10, CRANBERRY 0, 6 INNINGS

BUTLER, Pa. – Connor Ealy tossed a one-hit shutout as Moniteau beat visiting Cranberry, 10-6, in six innings at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park in Butler.

Ealy walked one and struck out five.

Landon Kelly drove in three runs for the Warriors going 1-for-3 with a pair of runs scored.

Keagan Book added a pair of RBIs going 1-for-3, while Dawson Wallace was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Dawson Cook was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

Lincoln Galla had a single for Cranberry.

Hudson Galla took the loss going three innings allowing nine runs, three earned, on eight hits and a hit batter. He struck out two.

DUBOIS 13, JOHNSONBURG 2

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Trey Wingard had four RBIs to help DuBois to a 13-2 win over Johnsonburg at Knothole Park in Johnsonburg.

Wingard went 2-for-3 and also scored a run.

Talon Hodge added a 2-for-5 day with a run scored and two RBIs for the Beavers, while Sammy Deeb was 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Tycen Roy got the win going six innings allowing one earned run on six hits, two walks, and a hit batter. He struck out three.

Eric Hoffman was 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Johnsonburg.

Hunter Beeler took the loss going four innings allowing eight runs, five earned, on six hits, three walks, and three hit batters. He struck out two.

KARNS CITY 10, NORTH CLARION 0, 6 INNINGS

BUTLER, Pa. – Adam Manuel and Colton Christie combined to throw a two-hit shutout as Karns City beat visiting North Clarion, 10-0, in six innings at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park in Butler.

Manuel got the win going five innings allowing a hit while striking out 11. Christie pitched a scoreless inning allowing a hit and striking out one.

Troy Nagel paced the Gremlin offense going 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk, and three RBIs, while Manuel helped himself by going 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Mason Sherwin was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored in the win.

Wade Peters took the loss going 4 ⅔ innings allowing seven runs, four earned, on six hits, four walks, and a hit batter. He struck out five.

OTTO-ELDRED 13, OSWAYO VALLEY 3, 5 INNINGS

ELDRED, Pa. – Jared Obenrader went 4-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and three RBIs to lead Otto-Eldred to a 13-3, five-inning win over visiting Oswayo Valley.

Landon Francis added a three-hit day for the Terrors going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.

Also for Otto-Eldred, Daveu Schenfield drove in two runs going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored, and Manning Splain walked three times and scored three times.

Jaden Prince got the win going three innings allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits and three walks while striking out two.

Andrew Wood was 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored for Oswayo Valley while Ridge Mesler went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Nik Bonney took the loss going one inning allowing eight runs, three earned, on five hits and two walks while striking out two.

MOUNT UNION 18, CURWENSVILLE 0, 3 INNINGS

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Bryce Danish went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, three runs scored, and six RBIs to lead visiting Mount Union to an 18-0, three-inning win over Curwensville.

Cody McClain got the win going three innings allowing a hit while striking out three.

Lawson Neiswender had the hit for Curwensville, a single.

Logan Kunkle took the loss going 1 ⅔ innings allowing nine runs, five earned, on nine hits and two walks.
