BASEBALL

KANE 11, BROCKWAY 0 

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Carson Whiteman struck out 14 while tossing a five-inning no-hitter in an 11-0 road win for Kane over Brockway.

   

                  

A walk was all that prevented Whiteman from throwing a perfect game.

Landon Darr had a pair of hits, three runs scored and two RBIs to pace the Wolves offense, while Bobby Rumcik added a hit, three runs scored and an RBI, and Jake Costanzo had a double and a run scored.

PORT ALLEGANY 8, SMETHPORT 7

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Trailing 7-6, Trey Ayers’ 2-run single proved to be the walk-off winner for Port Allegany in the Gators’ 8-7 win over Smethport. 

The Gators trailed 7-5 going into the bottom of the seventh, with Isaiah Caden’s bases-loaded walk drawing them to within a run. 

                          

Carter Moses, Drew Benson and Sawyer Prince all drove in runs for the Gators. 

Moses got the win in relief of Prince, the latter of whom struck out ten and allowed just two earned runs in his five innings of work. 

Alex Cole, Brendon Higley and Travis Cooney drove in two runs each for the Hubs. 

Alex Ognen got the start on the mound, striking out seven and allowing two runs in his five innings of work. 

               

BROOKVILLE 14, BRADFORD 6

BRADFORD, Pa. – Brookville scored six runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to power past host Bradford, 14-6. 

Carter Kessler singled three times and scored three runs for the Raiders, while Jace Miner and Owen Caylor had a pair of hits each and Hunter Roney doubled. 

The Raiders drew 10 walks in the game and scored five unearned runs. 

Taylor Zmitravich got the win with a spotless fourth inning of work for the Raiders, while starter Hunter Roney and Bay Harper pitched three innings apiece, with Harper allowing just one unearned run in getting the 3-inning save. 

Dalton Dixon, Brett Skaggs, and Nolan Roulo had a pair of hits each for the Owls, with Skaggs and Dixon tallying the Bradford RBIs. 

JOHSONBURG 10, CURWENSVILLE 3

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Johnsonburg scored multiple runs in four different innings on its way to a 10-3 win over Curwensville. 

Ethan Wells belted a home run and has two RBIs for the Rams, while Dom Allegretto had three hits, a double, and a pair of RBIs and Luke Zimmerman also had two hits and two RBIs for the Rams. 

Collin Porter got the win on the mound, going 3 ⅓ innings, striking out three, and allowing one run one hit, and a walk. Dalton Stahli also pitched three scoreless innings on the mound. 

            

For Curwensville, Spencer Hoover, Jake McCracken and Tyler Lee all drove in runs for the Golden Tide. 

A-C VALLEY 7, CLARION 5

FOXBURG, Pa. – Trailing 5-4 going into the bottom of the sixth, A-C Valley scored three runs in the frame to rally past Clarion, 7-5. 

With the game tied 5-5, Zach Cooper delivered a 2-run single to put the Falcons on top. 

A-C Valley led 3-1 going into the fifth, but Clarion scored four runs in the inning to take the lead, thanks in part to RBIs from Cameron Lapinto and Cole Slaugenhoup. 

Ryan Cooper earned the win for ACV, tossing 2 ⅓ shutout innings with four strikeouts. 

Zeke Causey went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored for ACV, while Slaugenhoup drove in three runs and Dawson Smail collected a pair of hits for Clarion. 

REDBANK VALLEY 13, CLARION-LIMESTONE 5

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Redbank Valley erupted for nine runs in the top of the seventh to break open a 1-run game en route to a 13-5 win over Clarion-Limestone. 

Hudson Martz, Bryson Bain, Kobe Bonanno, Cam Wagner and Tate Minich all had RBIs in the frame for the Bulldogs. 

Bonanno and Wagner both finished with three RBIs in the game, while Minich added a pair. All three went 2-for-4. 

Martz (3 innings, one earned run, five strikeouts) picked up the win in relief of Bain (four innings, two earned runs, four strikeouts for the Bulldogs. 

Ryan Hummel went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI for C-L. 

Hayden Callen tossed four scoreless innings for the Lions, striking out seven. 

MONITEAU 11, MERCER 1, 6 innings

BUTLER, Pa. – Moniteau put up nine runs in the first three innings, cruising to an 11-1, 6-inning victory over Mercer at Pullman Park. 

Dean Hershey, Tanner Williams, Mason Mershimer and Branson Carson all drove in runs in a 4-run third inning for the Warriors. 

Williams, Brock Matthews and Carson all drove in two runs apiece, with Hershey and Williams belting doubles. 

Brady Thompson was dominant on the mound, striking out 10 and allowing just one walk, three hits and an unearned run in his five innings of work. 

COUDERSPORT 15, OSWAYO VALLEY 0, 3 innings

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Coudersport scored 15 runs on just four hits en route to a 15-0 win over Oswayo Valley. 

The Falcons took advantage of seven OV errors in the win. 

Jackson Glover finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored for the Falcons, who also walked seven times. 

SOFTBALL

CLEARFIELD 4, PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 0

HYDE, Pa. – Emma Hipps tossed a 13-strikeout one-hitter to lead Clearfield to a 4-0 win over visiting Philipsburg-Osceola.

Hipps also scored two of the Lady Bison’s four runs while going 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.

Olivia Bender was also 1-for-1 with two walks and an RBI for Clearfield.

CLARION 15, A-C VALLEY 13

FOXBURG, Pa. – A 9-run second inning helped lift Clarion to a 15-13 win over A-C Valley. 

Payton Simko and Brenna Campbell both had monster games for Clarion. Simko hit a pair of home runs, going 3-for-5 and driving in four. Campbell, meanwhile, was 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs. 

Kylee Beers also homered for the Bobcats, while Simkoand Jordan Best doubled and Noel Anthony had a pair of two-baggers and drove in two. 

Meah Ielase had a big day at the plate for A-C Valley, collecting three hits, including a home run and driving in three. 

Andrea Meals was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and and RBI, while Mackenzie Parks was 4-for-5 with two RBIs. 

Brogan Armagost and Avah Burke drove in three runs apiece as well for ACV. 

FOREST AREA 20, BROCKWAY 5, 3 innings

MARIENVILLE, Pa. – Natalie Meyers had a huge day for Forest Area in their 20-5 win over Brockway. 

Meyers homered and drove in five runs at the plate and was also the winning pitcher, striking out a pair in her three innings of work. 

The Fires scored their 20 runs on 10 hits, taking advantage of 10 free passes issued by Brockway pitching. 

OSWAYO VALLEY 15, CAMERON COUNTY 5, 5 innings

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Oswayo Valley scored eight runs in the third inning and six more in the fourth en route to a 15-5 win over Cameron County. 

The eight-run third was keyed by doubles from Laya Phillips and Hannah Winseck, as well as a knock from Brooke George. 

George had three RBIs in the game. 

Macy West was dominant on the mound, striking out 14 for the Green Wave.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 8, REDBANK VALLEY 6 

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Clarion-Limestone got solid offensive contributions across the board in an 8-6 win over Redbank Valley. 

Cassidy Makray was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored, while Abby Knapp went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Frances Milliron was 2-for-4, while Regan Husted doubled and drove in a run. Alyssa Wiant had a double and an RBI and Carlley Hunter had three RBIs. 

Makray went 3 ⅔ innings on the mound, allowing four earned runs and striking out four. Husted went 3 ⅓ innings, allowing one run and striking out three. 

For Redbank Valley, Brooke Holben was 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, while Gabby Dinger was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Brynn Rearick belted a double and knocking in a run. 

MONITEAU 17, BUTLER 3, 6 innings

BUTLER, Pa. – Moniteau scored seven runs in the fourth inning and five more in the sixth en route to a 17-3 win over Butler. 

Abby Rottman, Emily Staab and Emma Covert all drove in four runs apiece for the Warriors, with Staab doubling twice and Rottman and Courtney Stewart, who had four hits, doubling once. 

Stewart got the win on the mound, striking out ten in her six innings of work.

Grace Thurner also had three RBIs for Moniteau. 

KARNS CITY 13, CRANBERRY 8

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Karns City had four innings scoring multiple runs in a 13-8 win over Cranberry. 

Ashely Fox and Marra Patton both had huge days at the plate for KC, both homering and driving in three runs apiece. 

Jess Dunn also drove in three runs for the winners and Zoe King knocked in a pair. 

Olivia Plummer had four hits for Cranberry. 

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 12, KANE 3

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Emily Mourer struck out 10 as Elk County Catholic beat Kane, 12-3.

Gabby Weisner went 3-for-4 in the win for Elk County Catholic. 

Kane’s hits went to Madison Stahli and Emma Danielson.

CURWENSVILLE 8, JOHNSONBURG 1

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Mackenzie Wall went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, and five RBIs to lead Curwensville past visiting Johnsonburg, 8-1.

Logan Sheeder was also 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored for the Lady Tide.

Jocelyn Freyer got the win allowed one unearned run on two hits and a walk while striking out six.

Julia Jones was 1-for-3 with a run scored and Julia Peterson had an RBI for Johnsonburg.

Peterson took the loss.
