Clearfield’s Collins, Corry’s Willis Earn Jan. 8-13 TapNPay+ Wrestling Performances of the Week

WARREN, Pa. – Clearfield’s Brady Collins and Corry’s Steven Willis earned the TapNPay+ District 9 and District 10 wrestling performances of the week for Jan. 8-13.

                        

Collins went 5-1 at 152 pounds at the prestigious 57-team Mid-Winter Mayhem at IUP.

Collins earned a win by tech fall to open the tournament, followed by three consecutive first period pins to advance to the semifinals. He earned a third period pin the semifinals and in the championship finals, dropped a hard-fought 3-1 decision to two-time state champion Melvin Miller of Bishop McCort, 3-1.

Willis, meanwhile, captured the 124-pound title at the 24-team Patrick J. Morales Tournament in Falconer (N.Y.).

Wills went 4-0, earning a pair of second period pins to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinals, he won via an 8-2 decision and in the championship finals, won by major decision. 9-0.
