SLIPPERY ROCK Pa. – In an extra-inning thriller, Cambridge Springs fell just short in the PIAA Class 1A quarterfinals, losing to West Greene, 6-5 in 10 innings.
Twice the Blue Devils rallied to tie the game – at 3-3 in the sixth on Taylor Smith’s RBI single, with Smith doing the damage again with a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the eighth that tied it up at 4-4.
Opposing pitcher Kiley Meek hit a 2-run home run in the 10th inning, which proved to be the game-winner.
