Brookville Boys Retain Daly/McManigle Traveling Trophy; Cameron Co., Moniteau Roll to Wins

Brookville won Daly-McManigle Traveling Trophy again with its win over Punxsutawney Saturday

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Clayton Cook and Connor Marshall led a first-half barrage that helped Brookville build a big lead on Punxsutawney early on the way to the Raiders’ 49-31 win over the Chucks.

Cook scored 16 of his game-high 22 points in the first half and wound up sinking 10 of 13 shots from the floor while pulling down eight rebounds. Marshall sank three 3-pointers in the first half and scored 11 of his 17 points before halftime.

The Raiders jumped out to a 17-4 lead by the 3:45 mark on Marshall’s second 3-pointer of the first quarter. They led 22-8 at the end of the first quarter and 31-13 by halftime. The Raiders led by as many as 26 points at 49-23 with 5:29 left in the fourth quarter.

Zach Presloid led the Chucks with nine points.

                                      

The Raiders retained the Chuck Daly/Larry McManigle Traveling Trophy which is sponsored by the Chuck Daly Foundation in Punxsutawney.

Daly and McManigle, the Raiders’ longtime coach, were close friends when they coached against each other when Daly was at Punxsutawney in the late 1950s and early 1960s before Daly moved on to forge a Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame career in the college and NBA ranks.

CAMERON COUNTY 64, AUSTIN 41

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Josh Smith led a trio of Cameron County players in double digits with 16 points, as the Red Raiders beat visiting Austin, 64-41, in NTL action.

Camdyn Allison added 13 points for Cameron County with Ryan Shaffer adding 11.

                          

Austin was paced by 12 points and six rebounds from Jacob Hooftallen with Dawson Hooftallen adding 10 points.

MONITEAU 63, WEST SHAMOKIN 33

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Three different players each scored 12 points, as Moniteau rolled to a 63-33 home win over West Shamokin.

David Dessicino, Dylan Bush, and Andrew Zepeda each netted a dozen tallies for the Warriors who also got nine points from David Martino and eight from Colton Thomas.

Brayden Rodgers had a game-high 19 points for West Shamokin.
