CLARION 12, CRANBERRY 7, CLARION 4, CRANBERRY 3, 5 INNINGS

CLARION, Pa. – Using a walk-off home run in the bottom of the fifth of Game Two from Kylee Beers, Clarion completed a sweep of Clarion with a 4-3, five-inning win in Game Two after taking a wild, 12-7, victory in Game One at Weaver Park in Clarion.

The second game ended with the fifth-inning walk-off homer because of darkness after Cranberry had rallied from a 3-1 deficit with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth on a two-run, one-out double to left by Keelie Schneider.

But Beers took a 3-2 pitch over the center-field fence to complete the sweep for Clarion.

   

                  

The first game was a wild one, with Clarion, as the visiting team, looking poised to take home a Mercy Rule victory when it held a 12-0 lead going to the bottom of the sixth.

But Cranberry scored five times in the sixth to keep the game going before adding two more in the seventh before Clarion was able to close out the victory.

In that game, Jordan Best and Payton Simko both homered with Simko’s being a towering blast over the left-field fence.

Best, whose shot also was to left, was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and four RBIs in the Game One victory with Simko going 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs. She added a double to her home run.

Beers was also 2-for-5, while Noel Anthony was 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. Both platters had doubles, as did Bri Forrest, who was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Alexa Kitchen had her first varsity hit and went 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

                          

Schneider was 3-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs for Cranberry with Reyna Watson going 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Olivia Plummer took the loss going two innings allowing seven earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five. Alisha Beggs pitched five innings giving up five runs, four earned, on seven hits and five walks while striking out two.

Simko got the win going the seven innings allowing seven runs, just two earned, on eight hits and three walks while striking out five.

In the second game, Forrest added a double for Clarion’s offense while going 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI, while Beers was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

               

Schneider had a pair of doubles for Cranberry while going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Anthony got the win going five innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out two.

Watson took the loss pitching four innings allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits, four walks, and a hit batter while striking out two.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 4, PUNXSUTAWNEY 3

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Getting six hits, two RBIs, and three runs scored from the bottom third of its batting order, DuBois Central Catholic held off Punxsutawney, 4-3, for a road victory.

Madi Hoyt was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Kali Franklin was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Jessy Frank was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and an RBI to lead the unbeaten Cardinals.

Kayley Risser also went 2-for4-, while Rose Whipple was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Punxsutawney, which trailed 4-1 going to the bottom of the sixth scored a run in the sixth and another one in the seventh before Morgan Tyler got Brooke Young to ground out with the tying run on second and two outs in the seventh.

Karli Young led the Lady Chucks at the plate going 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored. Brooke Young was 2-for-4.

Tyler got the win going seven innings giving up three earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out four.

            

Ciara Toven took the loss going seven innings allowing four runs, one earned, on 11 hits and a walk while striking out one.

KARNS CITY 6, KNOCH 5

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Jess Dunn’s bases-loaded, no-out single to left scored Jade Polcznski from third as Karns City walked off Knoch, 6-5.

Knoch had tied the game at five with two runs in the top of the seventh before Polcznski singled to start the bottom of the inning before stealing second. Two walks later, one intentional, Dunn won the game.

Marra Patton hit a home run and a double for the Lady Gremlins while going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Rossi McMillen also had a double in the win going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Patton got the win allowing five runs, three earned, on 11 hits and a walk while striking out six.

COUDERSPORT 7, SMETHPORT 6

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Emma Saulter had a double and a run scored to lead Coudersport to a 7-6 win over Smethport.

Sierra Myers, Savannah Myers, Alissa Dunn, and Cierra Davis each drove in runs for the Lady Falcons.

Elizabeth Hungiville was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs for Smethport with Ashley Dax going 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Savannah Myers got the win going four innings allowing two unearned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four. Saulter pitched three innings and got the save allowing four runs, three earned, on two hits and four walks while striking six.

Tylar Calley took the loss going six innings allowing seven runs, six earned, on five hits and 12 walks while striking out.




CLARION-LIMESTONE 9, KEYSTONE 3

KNOX, Pa. – A strong pitching performance from Regan Husted helped Clarion-Limestone to a 9-3 road win over Keystone.

Husted went seven innings allowing three earned runs on eight hits and six walks while striking out one. Her biggest feat was holding Keystone’s Natalie Bowser hitless. Bowser, who entered the game having committed as many outs as she had hit home runs in her career, was 0-for-3 with a walk.

Husted helped her own cause going 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored, while Abby Knapp was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Abby Himes was also 2-for-4 for the Lady Lions.

Leah Exley paced Keystone’s offense going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a walk and an RBI. Gabby Wolbert went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Exley took the loss pitching seven innings allowing nine runs, six earned, on 13 hits and a walk while striking out two.

CLEARFIELD 5, TYRONE 0

HYDE, Pa. – Emma Hipps threw another gem to help Clearfield to a 5-0 win over visiting Tyrone.

Hipps went seven innings allowing three hits and a walk while striking out 14.

Olivia Bender continued to show her power blasting two more home runs for the Lady Bison giving her four in five games.

Bender was 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored, and three RBIs, while Hipps was 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Lauren Ressler was 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and two RBIs.

ST. MARYS 11, BRADFORD 1, 5 INNINGS

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Kendall Young allowed one hit and an unearned run over four innings while striking out 10 to lead St. Marys to an 11-1, five-inning victory over visiting Bradford at Benzinger Park in St. Marys.

Kara Hanslovan ended the game for the Lady Dutch by going a scoreless inning striking out two.

Olivia Eckels paced the St. Marys’s offense going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Rose DePrater went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Madison Dougherty had the lone hit for Bradford going 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Kalie Dixon took the loss going four innings allowing seven earned runs on six hits and six walks while striking out two. Dougherty didn’t record an out allowing four runs on three hits and two walks.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 8, BRADFORD 1

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Emily Mourer hit a home run and Caitlyn Vollmer drove in two runs to help Elk County Catholic to an 8-1 win over visiting Bradford at Benzinger Park in St. Marys.

Mourer was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks, a run scored, and an RBI, while Vollmer went 3-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.

Sydney Alexander was 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored.

Kalie Dixon had a double for Bradford.

Mourer got the win going seven innings allowing an unearned run on four hits while striking out 10.

Dixon took the loss going 3 ⅓ innings allowing five earned runs on two hits and 10 walks while striking out four. Madison Dougherty took the loss pitched 2 ⅔ innings allowing three runs on six hits and a walk.

JOHNSONBURG 10, BROCKWAY 0, 6 INNINGS

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Natalie Dunworth, Zoey Grunthaner, and Julie Peterson each had three hits for Johnsonburg in a 10-0, six-inning win at Brockway.

Dunworth was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, Grunthaner was 3-for-4 with a run scored, and two RBIs, and Peterson was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Julia Jones also went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and two RBIs for the Ramettes.

Danielle Wood went 2-for-3 for Brockway.

Jones got the win going six shutout innings allowing three hits while striking out 12.

Taylor Rhed took the loss pitching six innings allowing 10 earned runs on 18 hits and a walk.

OIL CITY 13, A-C VALLEY 3, 6 innings

FOXBURG, Pa. – Payton Burk went 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs as Oil City topped A-C Valley, 13-3 in six innings.

Maddie Wenner was 2-for-3 with two runs for the Oilers, while Abby Foley was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Nyssa Hanlon 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs, and a double.

Shalyn Whittemore got the win, allowing two earned runs in five innings, allowing five hits, and striking out six.

Alivya Hartzell had a pair of RBIs for A-C Valley, while Colleen Verostek drove in one.

Mackenzie Parks took the loss, allowing 13 runs (seven earned) in six innings on 13 hits, striking out five.
