BASEBALL

OTTO-ELDRED 13, CAMERON COUNTY 6

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Scoring eight runs in the top of the seventh, Otto-Eldred broke a five-all tie on its way to a 13-6 win over Cameron County in Emporium.

Back-to-back singles to start the seventh, including an RBI base hit by Calvin Minich, got the rally started for the Terrors, who also got a two-run double from Jacob Coffman in the inning, and a pair of bases-loaded hit by pitches to help plate the eight runs.

                  

Wade Daniels, Max Splain, and Coffman each drove in a pair of runs for Otto-Eldred with Manning Splain and Max Splain each scoring three times.

Coffman was 2-for-4 with the double, while Minich was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Manning Splain went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI with Max Splain going 1-for-4 with a walk.

Eastyn Solveson was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, and two RBIs for Cameron County with Camdyn Allison going 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs. Maddox Baughman walked three times and had an RBI, and Jake Narby went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Max Splain got the win going 1 ⅓ innings allowing an earned run on a hit and a hit batter while striking out two.

Braden Maholic started and pitched two scoreless innings allowing a hit and two walks. Andrew Schenfield then went ⅔ of an inning allowing an earned run on four walks while striking out one. Jared Obenrader then pitched two innings allowing four runs, two earned, on three hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out one.

                          

Manning Splain finished the game for the Terrors pitching an inning allowing a hit and a walk.

Jesop Fairbaugh took the loss pitching a ⅓ of an inning allowing three earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one.

Solveson started for Cameron County and went 5 ⅔ innings allowing five runs, one earned, on four hits, and a walk while striking out seven.

Devin Fowler pitched a ⅓ of an innings allowing four runs, three earned on a hit and three walks, and Josh Beer pitched ⅔ of an inning allowing an unearned run.

SMETHPORT 6, NILES-MCKINLEY (OHIO) 2

               

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – In Myrtle Beach, S.C, Smethport got another strong pitching performance from Alex Ognen in a 6-2 win over Niles-McKinley (Ohio).

Ognen went six innings allowing two earned runs on eight hits, two walks, and two hit batters while striking out 12. Brandon Higley pitched a scoreless inning of relief striking out one and allowing a hit.

Higley also drove in a pair of runs going 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Travis Cooney was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and three RBIs. Noah Lent walked twice and scored twice.

Mike Guarnieri doubles and drove in a pair of runs for Niles-McKinley, while Anthony Fisher was 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Jordan Streamo was 2-for-3.

Sam Perrone took the loss going five innings allowing six runs, four earned, on five hits and four walks while striking out eight. Landon Turner pitched two scoreless innings allowing a hit and two walks while striking out three.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 10, DUBOIS 4

DUBOIS, Pa. – Visiting Punxsutawney broke open a close game with a five-run top of the seventh on its way to a 10-4 win over DuBois at Showers Field in DuBois.

The Chucks led 5-4 entering the seventh before breaking the game open thanks in part to doubles by Josh Tyger, Carter Savage, Payton Hetrick, and Isaac London with Savage, Hetrick, and London’s two-base hits driving in runs, including a pair by Hetrick.

That was part of a 10-hit attack by Punxsutawney that included five doubles and a triple with Jake Sikora also adding a double and London a triple.

            

London was 3-for-5 with a run scored and three RBIs, while Savage was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Hetrick also drove in three runs while going 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored.

Alex Pasternak hit a home run for DuBois while going 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs.

London pitched a complete game to get the win allowing four earned runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out six.

Tycen Roy took the loss pitching four innings allowing four runs, one earned, on three hits and three walks while striking out five. Tyler Chamberlin pitched three innings giving up six earned runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out one.

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 6, CLEARFIELD 4

HYDE, Pa. – A late Clearfield rally came up short in a 6-4 loss to visiting Philipsburg-Osceola.

The Bison trailed 6-1 entering the bottom of the seventh but scored three times, including twice on a two-out double to right by Moren Billotte before Billotte was left at second when Blake Pretash popped up to end the game.

Jeremy Whitehead and Brandon Hahn had doubles for P-O with Hahn going 3-for-3 and Whitehead 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Colby Hahn drove in a pair of runs in the win.

Elijah Quick was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for Clearfield with Ty Troxell going 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Dave Meersand got the win going six innings allowing an earned run on five hits and two walks while striking out five before hitting 96 pitches. Parker White relieved him in the seventh but walked the only two batters he faced allowing an earned run. Nick Coudriet got the final three outs but not before allowing two earned runs on three hits.

Kyle Elensky took the loss allowing four unearned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two in four innings of work. Hunter Rumsky pitched three innings allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits and a walk.

REDBANK VALLEY 18, FOREST AREA 0, 3 INNINGS; REDBANK VALLEY 20, FOREST AREA 0, 4 INNINGS

FAIRMOUNT CITY, Pa. – Redbank Valley outscored Forest Area 38-0 in sweeping a doubleheader from the visiting Fires.

The Bulldogs won Game One, 18-0, in three innings and Game Two, 20-0, in four innings.

In Game One, Tate Minich, Mason Clouse, and Ty Carrier all drove in three runs with Clouse and Carrier going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and Minich 2-for-2 with a run scored. One of Carrier’s hits was a double.

Bryson Bain was also 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for the Bulldogs.

Bain and Hayden Rearick combined on a three-inning no-hitter with Bain going two innings allowing a walk while striking out six. Rearick pitched a scoreless inning.

Declan McLaughlin took the loss going 2/3 of an inning allowing 12 runs, six earned, on eight hits and two walks. Keyon Custer went 1 1/3 innings allowing six runs, three earned, on seven hits, and a walk.

In Game Two, Cole Lufsey went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and four RBIs and Tyler Hetrick was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, three runs scored, and four RBIs.

Also for the Bulldogs, Bain was 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, and three RBIs, Rearick was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs and Owen Clouse was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored, two walks, and an RBI.

Jeff Douglas got the win throwing a four-inning no-hitter allowing a walk while striking out nine.

McLaughlin took the loss allowing five earned runs on six hits and a walk in one inning.

Warren Dashner went 2/3 of an inning giving up eight runs, five earned, on five hits and a walk with Custer pitching 1 1/3 innings allowing two earned runs on two hits and two walks. Nathan Dietrich went 2/3 of an inning allowing five runs, two earned, on two hits and three walks. Dawson Cornman went a 1/3 of an inning allowing a hit and a walk.




SOFTBALL

CLARION 12, CLARION-LIMESTONE 6

CLARION, Pa. – Building an early 6-0 lead on the strength of home runs from Kylee Beers and Jordan Best, Clarion held off a mid-game charge from visiting Clarion-Limestone to get a 12-6 win at Weaver Park in Clarion.

Up by the six runs early, the Lady Cats saw C-L close the gap to 6-4 with a four-run third.

It was 7-5 after the Lady Lions scored in the fifth, but Clarion answered with four in the bottom of the inning to push the lead back to six.

Best was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored with Beers going 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and four RBIs.

Also for the Lady Cats, Emily Troese went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, Noel Anthony was 1-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored, and Bri Forrest was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Alyssa Wiant drove in a pair of runs for C-L while going 1-for-3. She was also hit by a pitch. Abby Himes (1-for-3 with a walk) and Kendall Dunn (1-for-4 with an RBI) each scored twice for the Lady Lions.

Kendall Dunn took the loss going 1 ⅓ innings allowing six earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three. Jenna Dunn pitched 4 ⅔ innings giving up six runs, three earned, on eight hits, and two walks while striking out two.

Payton Simko got the win going five innings allowing five unearned runs on three hits, four walks, and two hit batters while striking out six. Noel Anthony pitched two innings giving up an unearned run on a hit and a walk.

DUBOIS 9, PUNXSUTAWNEY 5

DUBOIS, Pa. – Building a 9-1 lead after six innings, DuBois held on to beat visiting Punxsutawney, 9-5, at Heindl Field in DuBois.

Sarah Henninger hit another home run for the Lady Beavers while adding a triple and going 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and three runs scored out of the leadoff spot.

Gabby Gulvas was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs in the win with Morgan Pasternak going 3-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and an RBI, Allie Snyder 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI, and Bella Gregory 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Avary Powell was 3-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and three RBIs to pace Punxsutawney with Karli Young going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored.

Snyder got the win going six innings allowing an earned run on five hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out three.

Emma Delp pitched one inning for DuBois allowing four earned runs on two hits and two walks.

Young took the loss going 3 ⅔ innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on seven hits while striking out one.

Brooke Skarbek pitched 2 ⅓ innings allowing two unearned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one.

PORT ALLEGANY 11, GALETON 1, 6 INNINGS

PORT ALLEGANY, Pa. – Madelin Smith went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to help Port Allegany to an 11-1 home win over Galeton in six innings.

Cayle Lloyd also drove in four runs while going 3-for-4 with a two-run triple, and Baylee Brown was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Freshman Macy Crowell was 3-for-3 for Galeton, while fellow freshman Eve Cole went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Lloyd got the win allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out three.

Mikayla Schott took the loss giving up 11 hits while striking out five.

A-C VALLEY 19, UNION 4, 3 INNINGS

WEST FREEDOM, Pa. – Mackenzie Parks went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, and six RBIs to help A-C Valley to a 19-4 win over visiting Union in three innings.

Bella Ielase hit a home run for the Lady Falcons while going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs.

Lexi Bauer was also 2-for-2 with a triple, three runs scored, and two RBIs in the win with Avah Burke going 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, and four runs scored, and Meah Ielase going 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI, and four runs scored.

Parks got the win going three innings allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out three.

Brailagh Claypoole and Mackenna Davis each had doubles for Union with Davis going 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI, and Claypoole 1-for-1 with a walk.

Magen Walzak took the loss going two innings allowing 13 runs, eight earned, on eight hits and four walks while striking out two. Emerson Stevens went 2/3 of an inning allowing five runs, four earned, on two hits, a walk, three hit batters while striking out one. Kassie Wensel allowed an unearned run on one hit while not recording an out.
