8-Run Second Lifts Saegertown to Victory; Maplewood Falls on Walk-Off Single

An 8-run second inning lifted Saegertown to an 11-0, 5-inning win over NorthPoint Christian Academy.

Already leading 3-0, the Panthers (1-0) registered seven hits and three free passes to plate eight runs in the second inning.

DeMarcus Manning hit a pair of doubles, scored twice, and drove in three runs. Blake Burchill also had two hits, including a double, two RBI, and a run scored. Everett Gardner had a pair of hits, scored twice, and drove in a run.

William Shaffer got the win giving up just one hit and striking out three in two scoreless innings. Gardner allowed one hit, walked two, and struck out one in his two innings. Levi Gardner gave up one hit and struck out the side in his inning of work.

ALLEGANY (NC) 3, MAPLEWOOD 2

   

                  

John LeMasters’ walk-off single lifted Allegany (NC) to a 3-2 win over Maplewood.

A walk and a single put runners on the corners for LeMasters, who hit a liner to left for the game-winner.
The Tigers (0-2) took a 1-0 lead in the second when Eli Beuchat singled in Chase Koelle, who had hit a 1-out triple.

The Trojans answered with two runs in the third thanks to an RBI triple and a 1-run single. Jacob Woge’s RBI-single in the fifth knotted it at 2-2.

Woge took the loss allowing one earned run on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts in an inning-plus. Koelle got the start and gave up two earned runs on two hits with four walks and eight strikeouts.

WEST WILKES (NC) 9, MAPLEWOOD 7

                          

Maplewood’s late rally came up two runs short as the Tigers fell to West Wilkes (NC), 9-7.
The Tigers (0-2) trailed, 9-0, through five innings. They scored twice in the sixth and added five more in the seventh. Maplewood brought the tying run to the plate, but the Blackhawks got Chase Koelle to fly out to end the game.

Levi Wilison had two hits, scored a run, and drove in a run. Jacob Woge scored twice, and Paul Hirosky scored one run and had two RBI.

Landyn Reynolds took the loss allowing four unearned runs on three hits with two walks and a strikeout in 2 ⅔ innings. Andrew Proper gave up five runs, four earned, on two hits with three walks and a strikeout in 1 ⅓. Kylee Jordan pitched two scoreless innings. He didn’t allow a hit, walked three and struck out four.
