Wilmington Girls Clinch Region 4 Title; Fairview Scores Big Win Over McDowell to Close Regular Season

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Wilmington closed out a Region 4 championship with a 41-35 win over Greenville.

The Greyhounds, who led 35-33, closed the game on a 6-2 run.

Lia Krarup scored a team-high 15 points for Wilmington, while Sarah Dieter and Reeese Bruckner added eight points apiece.

Grace Cano led Greenville with 18 points.

FAIRVIEW 37, MCDOWELL 21

                                      

ERIE, Pa. – Hope Garrity scored 20 points as Fairview picked up a big win to close out the regular season, 37-21 over McDowell.

The win gives the Lady Tigers a season split with the Trojans and a four-game winning streak entering the postseason.

Fairview gave up just six points in the first half in building a 17-6 advantage en route to the win.

Garrity knocked down five 3s and scored 15 of her 20 points in the first half. Sara Gennuso had seven points for Fairview and Ella Garrity six.

Amaiya Nelson had nine points to lead McDowell.

                          

WARREN 53, CONNEAUT 34

WARREN, Pa. – A 14-2 run to end the third quarter broke the game wide open as Warren finished an undefeated Region 5 season with a 53-34 win over Conneaut.

The Dragons led 28-23 with 4:33 to play in the third quarter when Meea Irwin completed a traditional 3-point play. That started the run which saw Warren take a 23-19 halftime lead and extend it to 47-25 after three quarters.

“We have a lot of heart, and we play with a lot of confidence,” Irwin said. “That kind of gave us a boost.”

After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Dragons looked like they were starting to pull away in the second with a 21-12 lead. The Eagles ended the half on a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to four, 23-19.

Conneaut kept it within six through the first half of the third quarter, but couldn’t close the gap after Warren’s big run.

                                   

Lainie Harrington led the Eagles with 13 points, while Hannah Brady added 12.

Sammie Ruhlman had a game-high 17 points and six assists. Irwin had 14 points and six rebounds, while Halle Kuzminski had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 40, SAEGERTOWN 25

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Jordyn Wheeler scored 11 points and Makenzie Yanc once again filled the stat sheet for Cambridge Springs in a 40-25 win over Saegertown.

Wheeler scored eight of her 11 points in the first half as Cambridge Springs built a 22-13 halftime advantage.

Yanc, Finley Rauscher, and Hailee Rodgers had eight points each for Cambridge Springs, with Yanc notching six rebounds, six assists, and four steals, while Wheeler had seven rebounds, four blocks, and two assists, and Rodgers six rebounds and four steals.

Lindsey Greco led Saegertown with 11 points.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 66, MERCER 24</strong<

MERCER, Pa. – Bella Magestro poured in 20 points as Kennedy Catholic put the finishing touches on an unbeaten Region 1 slate with a 66-24 win over Mercer.

The Golden Eagles have now won 15 straight games.

Magestro was one of four players in double figures for KC, as Layke Fields added 15, Izzy Bianco 12, and Monique Vincent 10.

Pressley Washil had eight points for Mercer.

GROVE CITY 48, SLIPPERY ROCK 24

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Piper Como poured in 21 points as Grove City double up Slippery Rock, 48-24.

Grove City built a 29-11 halftime lead en route to the win. Karis Perample, Delaney Callahan, and Izzy Gamble had nine points each for GC in the win.

                                  

CJ Sabo and Julia Coffaro had seven points each for Slippery Rock.

NORTH EAST 40, GIRARD 12

GIRARD, Pa. – Gigi Gaston led a balanced effort with nine points as North East beat Girard, 40-12.

Alex Cozzens added eight points for North East.

Payton Kalicky had five points for Girard.

FARRELL 61, REYNOLDS 24

TRANSFER, Pa. – Gabby King poured in 32 points to lead Farrell past Reynolds.

Farrell led 38-11 at halftime en route to the win.

Janiya Daniels added 10 points for Farrell, while Damerra Thomas added eight.

Ava Murcko had 12 points and Marissa Hillyer had nine for Reynolds.

SHARPSVILLE 46, SHARON 30

SHARON, Pa. – Lily Palko scored 13 points as Sharpsville closed the regular season on a six-game winning streak with a 46-30 win over Sharon.

Sharpsville outscored Sharon 28-15 in the second half.

Palko added five steals, while Breanna Hanley had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Chasie Fry also had 10 points for the Blue Devils.

India McGee had 10 points for Sharon.

WEST MIDDLESEX 63, JAMESTOWN 28

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Alexis Babcock and Emma Mild scored 20 points each as West Middlesex powered past Jamestown, 63-28.

Caitlin Stephens added nine points for the Big Reds.

Alayna adman had 15 points for Jamestown.

HARBOR CREEK 63, FORT LEBOEUF 28

HARBOR CREEK, Pa. – Sammy Zank scored 19 points as Harbor Creek earned a 63-28 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

Brooke Przybylski added 16 points for the Huskies.

CATHEDRAL PREP 66, GENERAL MCLANE 20

ERIE, Pa. – Lena Walz poured in 20 points as Cathedral Prep powered past General McLane, 66-20.

Addie Biel added 13 points and Ava Lucarotti nine for the Ramblers.

LAKEVIEW 57, COMMODORE PERRY 8

STONEBORO, Pa. – Kelsey Seddon scored 16 points as Lakeview beat Commodore Perry, 57-8.

Emma Marsteller added nine points for Lakeview.

Marley Meyer had four points for Commodore Perry.

UNION CITY 51, ROCKY GROVE 7

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Kayla Mangel scored 10 points as Union City beat Rocky Grove 51-7.

Brooke VanTassel added nine points for Union City.

Rae Montgomery had four points for Rocky Grove.

ERIE 75, MEADVILLE 66

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Andreas McCullum poured in 20 points as Erie earned a 75-66 Region 7 win over Meadville.

Meadville rallied from a 17-point deficit to cut it to seven after the third quarter, 58-51 before Ere was able to close it out.

Lucas Luteran led Meadville with 22 points.
