RUSSELL, Pa. – Just a junior, Mercyhurst Prep’s Olivia Kulyk became a member of the prestigious 1,000-point club on Thursday.
Needing eight points for 1,000, Kulyk blew past that, scoring 23 points and hitting 1,000 right on the nose with a 3-pointer in the first quarter of a 59-38 win over Eisenhower.
“Since I was a little girl, I always wanted to put my name on a banner,” Kulyk said. “It really feels great. It’s a dream come true.”

And here’s the shot that gave Kulyk 1,000.
Kulyk hit three triples in the first quarter and scored 19 of her 23 points as Mercyhurst Prep built a 34-11 halftime lead.
The Lakers wrapped up a 17-5 regular season and a perfect 14-0 mark in Region 3.
“My parents and my siblings are always encouraging me, no matter how much I fight with my siblings,” Kulyk said with a smile. “They’re always there for me.”
Eisenhower (12-9, 6-8) actually outscored the Lakers, 27-25 in the second half.
Lainey Font scored 15 points on five 3s for the Lady Knights, while Clara Steinberg added seven points and Mackenzie Dunn and Laney Belcher six each.
