Union City’s Drayer Hits School-Record 8 3-Pointers in Win; McDowell Takes Showdown With Prep; Slippery Rock Gets Huge Victory

UNION CITY, Pa. – Bryce Drayer drained a school-record eight 3s and scored 33 points as Union City closed the season with a 72-39 win over Maplewood.

Drayer drilled four triples in the first quarter as Union City built a 32-10 halftime advantage. Drayer hit four more 3s in the fourth quarter.

Wyatt Post was also in double figures for the Bears with 10 points.

Elliot Beuchat led Maplewood with 16 points.

MCDOWELL 43, CATHEDRAL PREP 37

                                      

ERIE, Pa. – Kamden Kramer and Nando Mirachi scored 12 points each as McDowell beat arch rival Cathedral Prep 43-37 to earn a split of the Region 7 title.

The loss snapped an 11-game winning streak for the Ramblers and was their only loss against a District 10 opponent in the regular season.

McDowell, which also got seven points from Tyler Grove, built a 26-14 halftime lead en route to the win.

Jake Sambuchino had 12 points to pace Prep, while Amaree Pickens added 10.

SLIPPERY ROCK 62, GROVE CITY 56

                          

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – In a win they had to have in order to potentially get into the District 10 Class 4A playoffs, Slippery Rock knocked off Region 5 champion Grove City, 62-56.

Trailing 29-27 at halftime, The Rock outscored Grove City 14-7 in the third quarter and held off the Eagles in the fourth for the win.

Josh Book scored 16 points and John Sabo 12, with each scoring five during the third-quarter run.

Dylan Gordon added 11 points, Jacob Wolak eight, and Levi Prementine seven for the Rockets.

Nathan Greer scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the first half for Grove City, while Kam Martin had 14 and Brett Loughry 13.

The Rockets will now wait for Sunday’s bracket release to see if they did enough to get into the postseason.

FRANKLIN 60, OIL CITY 43

OIL CITY, Pa. – Damon Curry scored 19 points as Franklin closed the regular season with its 13th consecutive win, 60-43 over Route 8 rival Oil City.

Curry drained four 3s in the second quarter as the Knights built a 33-22 halftime advantage.

Jonathon Leccia had 15 points for Franklin, while Jalen Wood added 12 and Cole Buckley eight.

                                   

Cam VanWormer had 11 points to lead Oil City, while Connor Highfield had 10 and Sayyid Donald nine.

WARREN 85, CORRY 58

CORRY, Pa. – Parks Ordiway led four Dragons in double figures with 18 points in an 85-58 win over Corry to close the regular season.

The win was the fifth straight for the Dragons, who outscored Corry 29-12 in the second quarter to build a 49-27 halftime lead

Ordiway scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half for the Dragons, while Tommy Nyquist had 15 points, Owen Becker 14 and Brady Berdine 12.

Braylon Barnes added nine points and Jack Darling a season-high eight for Warren.

Markus Lambert led Corry with 16 points, while Stephen Brady added 11.

EISENHOWER 64, YOUNGSVILLE 35

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Wyatt Lookenhouse and Eisenhower are going into the playoffs on a roll.

Lookenhouse scored 33 points, capped off a by a fourth-quarter dunk in a 64-35 win over Youngsville, the Knights’ (13-9) fourth straight win to close the regular season.

“I feel like we’re playing the best we have all season,” Lookenhouse said. “We know each other, we know how we all play and we know what needs to be done and how much energy we need to play with.”

The Knights built a 34-11 halftime lead en route to the win.

Johnny Palmieri had nine points for Eisenhower, Kael Hunt eight and Kris Bunk and Kyler Black seven each.

Alex Hill hit four second-half 3s to finish with a team-high 12 points for Youngsville.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 66, JAMESTOWN 60

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Kennedy Catholic built a 42-22 halftime lead and held off a furious Jamestown rally for a 66-60 win.

Levi Hailstock led the way for Kennedy Catholic, pouring in 25 points, while Thorsten Hart had 14 and Remington Hart 10.

Jamestown, which outscored the Golden Eagles 38-24 in the second half, was led by Cam Keyer’s 25 points.

Carter Williams and Gage Plavansky added 10 points each for the Muskies.

GREENVILLE 59, SHARON 56

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Logan Lentz poured in 26 points as Greenville outlasted Sharon to close the regular season, 59-56.

Greenville built a 31-20 lead at halftime and held off a second-half Sharon rally.

Noah Philson had 15 points and Soren Hedderick had six for Greenville.

Derek Douglas and Garrett Hoffman had 14 points each for Sharon, while Mister Ham had 13.

MERCER 70, REYNOLDS 27

MERCER, Pa. – Region 2 champion Mercer outscored Reynolds 42-9 in the second half en route to a 70-27 win, their 11th straight.

Braden Balaski had 19 points for Mercer, while Jake Mattocks had 16 and Bubba Palmer nine.

Jake Williams had 10 points for Reynolds.

FAIRVIEW 44, MERCYHURST PREP 30

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Archie Murphey and Zach Scott scored 10 points each as Fairview closed the regular season with a 44-30 win over Mercyhurst Prep.

John Seyboldt and Jeremy Frazao had nine points each for the Tigers.

Jeremy Ganska had eight points for Mercyhurst Prep.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 62, COCHRANTON 45

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Josh Reisenauer and Parker Schmidt had 14 points each as Region 3 champion Cambridge Springs closed the regular season with a 62-45 win over Cochranton.

Brady Rynd had 16 points for Cochranton, while Chase Miller added 11.

ROCKY GROVE 73, COMMODORE PERRY 39

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – D’Andre Whtiman scored a game-high 18 points as Rocky Grove earned a 73-39 win over Commodore Perry.

Evan Wolfgong had 15 points for the Orioles, while Blayne Baker added 11 and Quinn Ritchey nine.

Rocky Grove built a 36-13 halftime lead en route to the win.

Kyle Stringert led Commodore Perry with 14 points, while Christian Saxe added 13.

HICKORY 67, WILMINGTON 25

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Tyson Djakovich scored 11 points as Hickory closed the regular season on a 4-game winning streak with a 67-25 win over Wilmington.

Devin Daniels and Landon Bean scored nine points each for Hickory, while Aidan Enoch and Rylan Dye had eight apiece.

Will Bruckner had 10 points for Wilmington and Anthony Reed had nine.

WEST MIDDLESEX 34, LAKEVIEW 31

STONEBORO, Pa. – Richie Preston scored 16 points as West Middlesex edged Lakeview, 34-31.

West Middlesex, which trailed 17-16 at halftime, went on an 11-5 run in the third quarter.

Blaze Knight added nine points for the Big Reds.

Cam Pence had 13 points for Lakeview.

SHARPSVILLE 77, GEORGE JUNIOR REPUBLIC 54

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Shaprsville outscored George Junior Republic 23-1 in the second quarter on its way to a 77-54 win.

Liam Campbell had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Sharpsville, while Braden Scravel had 14 points and 10 boards. Luke Staunch added 11 points for the Blue Devils.

Bahir Green had 26 points for GJR.
