AUSTIN, Texas – Union/A-C Valley’s Hayden Smith, a student at Union High School, was recently named the MileSplit PA Boys’ Indoor Field Athlete of the Year.

Smith, who was also first-team All-State in the high jump, had a fantastic winter season despite splitting time with basketball where he led Union in scoring at 13.4 points per game.

In track, he won the PTFCA State Championship and the Adidas track national in the high jump while clearing the bar at 6 feet, 11 inches, the third-highest jump all-time in the state by a high school athlete indoors.

“I am honored to be chosen for this award,” Smith said. “It was my first time competing in the indoor season and there are a lot of dedicated, good athletes who were deserving of the award.

Additional District 9 and District 10 athletes honored on the all-state teams included Grove City’s Milena Sciullo, who was first-team high jump on the girls’ side, Franklin’s Logan Knight, who made the boys’ freshman team in the shot put, and Grove City’s Aleah Morgante, who made the girls’ freshman team in the pole vault.
