Slawson Helps Northern Potter Top Oswayo Valley in D9 Girls 1A Playoffs

ULYSSES, Pa. – Outscoring ninth-seeded Oswayo Valley 25-10 in the middle two quarters, eighth-seeded Northern Potter picked up a 32-23 win in the opening round of the District 9 Class 1A playoffs at NoPo.

“Strong defense carried us to victory tonight,” Northern Potter head coach Casey Cady said.

The Lady Panthers will take on top-seeded Otto-Eldred at 7 p.m. Thursday at Otto-Eldred.

Reagan Slawson was key in the middle frames for Northern Potter all nine of her points between the second and third quarter including six in the second quarter to help the Lady Panthers turn a 5-4 deficit after one into a 15-9 halftime lead.

Slawson added three steals.

                                      

Haylee Chapman added eight points for Northern Potter with Rebecca Martin contributing five points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Molly Cady also had eight boards, and Kayden Brown and Riley Thompson grabbed seven boards each.

Oswayo Valley, in the postseason for the first time since 2011, got nine points from McKenna Manning, all after halftime, and eight from Layken Enty, six in the first half.
