Redbank Valley Outlasts Karns City in OT; Hickory Rallies Past Sharon; Keystone Edges C-L

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Scoring the first four points of overtime, all from the free-throw line, Redbank Valley edged visiting Karns City, 48-47, in KSAC action.

Karns City (4-2 overall, 2-1 KSAC) trailed by seven, 36-29, going to the fourth quarter before outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 15-8 in the fourth quarter to forge a 44-all tie at the end of regulation.

Brooklynn Taylor spearheaded the rally with a pair of 3-pointers and eight fourth-quarter points.

Savanna Prescott added five points in the fourth.

But in overtime, Kira Bonnano hit a pair of free throws and Mylee Harmon knocked down 2 of 4 to give the Lady Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0) a 48-44 lead.

                                      

Taylor hit a 3-pointer at the horn to set the final score.

Redbank Valley led by just two, 22-20, at halftime after being outscored 14-9 in the second quarter.

But the Lady Bulldogs outpaced Karns City 14-9 in the third quarter behind nine points from Harmon to take the seven-point lead going to the final eight minutes of regulation.

Harmon had a game-high 26 points for Redbank Valley with Bonnano adding eight and Addy Bond seven.

Chloe Fritch led Karns City with 13 points, including three 3-pointers, while Taylor added 11 points with all 11 coming in the fourth quarter and overtime.

HICKORY 41, SHARON 37

SHARON, Pa. – Trailing 26-23 going into the fourth quarter, Hickory outscored Sharon 18-11 to rally for a 41-37 win.

Addison Phillips knocked down a pair of 3’s in the fourth quarter for Hickory, while Kimora Roberts also scored six points in the fourth for Hickory and Mariah Swanson four.

Roberts finished with 15 points, Swanson 10, and Phillips eight.

Nmiya Griggs knocked down four triples and finished with 12 points for Sharon, while Tay Chester finished with 11 points.

KEYSTONE 37, CLARION-LIMESTONE 36

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Ashlee Albright’s steal and basket with 1:27 to play gave visiting Keystone a 37-36 come-from-behind victory over Clarion-Limestone in KSAC action.

The Lady Panthers (2-3 overall, 1-1 KSAC), who trailed by four at the half and two heading to the fourth quarter, had to survive a late turnover to secure the win.

After Albright’s go-ahead basket, C-L (0-5, 0-3) missed a shot with the rebound going out of bounds to Keystone with just over a minute to play.

                                   

The Lady Panthers were then able to run all but three seconds off the clock before C-L’s Adi Jackson tied up Keystone’s Isabella Brandon with three seconds left.

Out of a timeout, the Lady Lions got the ball to Jenna Dunn, but her desperation 3-pointer from about 30 feet away was well short.

Keystone led 17-13 at halftime thanks in part to a 7-2 first-quarter advantage and still held a 28-26 lead going to the fourth quarter.

The lead then exchanged hands a couple of times in the final eight minutes before Albright came up with a steal in the full-court press and ended up with a virtually uncontested layup to give the Lady Panthers the lead for good.

Albright led Keystone with 12 points with Ava Patrick adding 10 and Emma Gruber seven.

Freshman Hannah Beggs had a career-high 15 points for C-L with Dunn adding 13.

FOREST AREA 38, UNION/A-C VALLEY 35

TIONESTA, Pa. – For the third time in two weeks, Forest Area knocked off Union/A-C Valley handing the Falcon Knights a 38-35 defeat at West Forest.

Kaylie Rooke had a monster game for the Fires (4-3, 1-1) with 14 points, 13 rebounds, seven blocked shots, and three steals. Jayden Colvin added nine points and three steals in the win, while Amber Guzzi had six points and three steals, and Tori Brown had six points.

Union/A-C Valley (1-4, 0-2) was led by nine points each from Kya Wetzel and Maddie Dehart.

MAPLEWOOD 53, GENERAL MCLANE 38

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Madison O’Hara scored 14 of her 21 points in the first half to help lead Maplewood to a 53-38 win over General McLane.

O’Hara was 11-of-15 from the free-throw line in the win.

Maggie Means was also in double figures for Maplewood with 14 points.

Libby Opp had 18 points and Gwenna Gast had eight for GM.

                                  

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 61, BROOKVILLE 32

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Emily Mourer scored 11 of her career-high 25 points in the third quarter to help Elk County Catholic pull away from visiting Brookville, 61-32.

The Lady Crusaders (4-0 overall, 1-0 D9 League) led 24-17 at halftime before outscoring Brookville 37-15 in the second half including 21-10 in the third quarter behind the play of Mourer, who had never scored 20 in a game before Friday night.

Sami Straub added 11 points for ECC with Tori Newton adding eight and Sydney Alexander seven.

Eden Wonderling led Brookville (3-3, 0-1) with 15 points with Samantha Whitling adding 10.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 57, BRADFORD 32

BRADFORD, Pa. – Danielle Griebel handed out 13 assists and completed a double-double with 12 points to lead visiting Punxsutawney to a 57-32 win over Bradford in D9 League action.

Griebel also had five rebounds and two steals, and, according to head coach Mike Carlson, her 13 helpers are the most by a Lady Chuck player in his nine years at the helm.

Avary Powell added 18 points, six rebounds, and three steals for Punxsutawney (5-0 overall, 1-0 D9 League).

All 32 of Bradford’s points came from three players.

Kalie Dixon led the Lady Owls (1-4, 0-1) with 17 points, Haley Keane added 10 points, and Korie Dixon chipped in five tallies.

OTTO-ELDRED 41, CAMERON COUNTY 28

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Visiting Otto-Eldred used a balanced offensive effort to knock off Cameron County, 41-28, in NTL play.

Eight different Lady Terrors scored led by 11 points from Kate Rhinehart.

Ayla Van Scoter added eight points and five rebounds for the Lady Terrors (3-4 overall, 2-2 NTL), while Emily Wheaton had seven points.

Carrie Drummond helped on the boards with a game-high 10 rebounds in the win while also scoring six points, Addie Bells had seven boards and five points and Rayel Hakes grabbed five rebounds to go with a made free throw.

Navaeh Spaeth paced Cameron County (1-3, 1-2) with seven points while Elsie Bresslin had six points and seven rebounds. Ava Hilfiger also scored six points.

MONITEAU 44, NORTH CLARION 25

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – In a non-conference game, Abbey Jewart put together a solid all-around effort to lead Moniteau past visiting North Clarion, 44-25.

Jewart had two points, six rebounds, and four steals.

Catherine Kelly led the Lady Warriors (5-1) with 16 points and six steals with Sophia Fleeger adding eight points. Kendall Sankey dished out five assists and scored five points, and Cheyenne Curl added eight points.

Lily Homan had 13 points for North Clarion (3-2).

KANE 50, YOUNGSVILLE 12

KANE, Pa. -Hailey Hillman and Kylie Iak combined to score 25 points, as Kane ran away from visiting Youngsville, 50-12.

Hillman led the Lady Wolves (2-3) with 15 points with Iak adding 10.

Maya Smith also scored nine points in the victory with Alexa Olmstead and Leah Tigani each chipping in eight tallies.

Zaylee Kressley led Youngsville (3-3) with six points.

JUNIATA VALLEY 66, CURWENSVILLE 44

ALEXANDRIA, Pa. – Anna Taylor scored 25 points to help Juniata Valley to a 66-44 win over visiting Curwensville in ICC North action.

Amelia Russell added 14 points for the Hornets (2-2 overall, 2-0 ICC North) with Kassidy Watson chipping in 11 points and Maddie Hopsicker 10.

Karleigh Freyer had a game-high 19 points for Curwensville (0-3, 0-2) with Natalie Wischuck scoring 10.

BISHOP GUILFOYLE 46, CLEARFIELD 38

ALTOONA, Pa. – Maurie Querry led a balanced Bishop Guilfoyle attack with 13 points in a 46-38 LHAC East win over visiting Clearfield.

Anberlyn Petrecca added eight points for the Marauders (4-0 overall, 3-0 LHAC East) while three players scored six points apiece.

Sonny Diehl led Clearfield (3-3, 1-2) with 12 points, Cayleigh Walker added 10 tallies, and Hannah Glunt and Mia Helsel each scored seven points.
