Dye, Hickory Rally Past Franklin; Warren, Sharon, Girard Stay Perfect; Lakeview Tops Rocky Grove in OT

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Trailing 58-52, Rylan Dye keyed a game-ending 12-2 run for Hickory in a 64-60 win over Franklin.

Dye hit back-to-back triples to tie the game and also knocked down four free-throws down the stretch to secure the win for the Hornets. Dye scored 12 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter.

Trevor Borowicz scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half for the Hornets and also had six rebounds, and Ryan Robich had 11 points to go along with five rebounds

Hickory led 34-27 at halftime on the strength of a 20-6 run in the second quarter.

Franklin responded in the third, taking a 49-45 lead with a 22-11 run of their own. Damon Curry knocked down three 3’s in the third on his way to a team-high 17 points for Franklin.

                                      

Jalen Wood scored 16 points for Franklin, nine of which came in the first quarter.

WARREN 79, FAIRVIEW 51

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Braylon Barnes connected for 29 points as Warren improved to 6-0 with a 79-51 win over Fairview.

Warren led 41-20 at halftime on its way to the win, with Barnes scoring 14 of his points in the third quarter as the Dragons extended their lead to 66-36.

Barnes was one of three Dragons in double figures, as Brady Berdine scored 18 points and Tommy Nyquist 10.

                          

Archie Murphey led Fairview with 15 points and Tyler DiVecchio 10.

SHARON 67, CONNEAUT 24

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Derek Douglas scored 15 of his 17 points in the first half as Sharon improved to 6-0 with a 67-24 win over Conneaut.

Owen Schenker scored 16 points for the Tigers, while Tino Piccirilli added 11.

Sharon made nine 3’s in the win.

Shakiir Jordan led Conneaut with 12 points.

GIRARD 59, COCHRANTON 33

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Girard jumped out to a 22-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, improving to 4-0 with a 59-33 win over Cochranton.

Kenny Godoy led a balanced Girard effort with 16 points, while Nate Edwards and Ryan Carr netted 12 points each.

Walker Carroll led Cochranton with 16 points.

                                   

LAKEVIEW 47, ROCKY GROVE 45, overtime

STONEBORO, Pa. – Lakeview outscored Rocky Grove 4-2 in overtime en route to a 47-45 win.

Evan Reiser had 19 points for Lakeview, while Lucas Fagley added 10.

Rocky Grove led 35-33 after the third quarter.

Noah Baughman had a game-high 20 points for Rocky Grove.

FORT LEBOEUF 69, CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 60

WATERFORD, Pa. – Ronan Dorler led a balanced Fort LeBoeuf effort with 16 points in a 69-60 win over Cambridge Springs.

Carson Papay scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half for LeBoeuf as they built a 35-28 advantage.

Caden Carpenter and Dom Russo were also in double figures for the Bison with 14 and 12 points respectively.

The Bison went 14-of-21 from the free-throw line in the win.

Parker Schmidt scored 18 of his 21 points in the first half for Cambridge Springs, while Owen Riley had 17 and Tristan Mazzadra 10.

SAEGERTOWN 45, IROQUOIS 44

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Cody Huson scored 11 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter to help Saegertown to a 45-44 win over Iroquois.

Trailing 21-20 at halftime, Saegertown went on a 17-11 run in the third quarter to take a 37-32 lead.

Sam Draa had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers, while Luke Young nearly had a double-double as well with nine points and 11 boards.

                                  

Orlando Brown led Iroquois with 15 points.

HARBOR CREEK 61, NORTH EAST 55

NORTH EAST, Pa. – JT DelSandro scored 11 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter to lift Harbor Creek to a 61-55 win over North East.

The Huskies trailed 46-42 going to the fourth quarter, but outscored the Grape Pickers 19-9 over the final eight minutes.

Bryalen Wilson had his second-consecutive double-double for the Huskies with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Tucker Chwatek also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists.

Cam Lican and Wille Shunk had 15 points each for North East, while Noah Crozier added 13.

EISENHOWER 81, TITUSVILLE 52

RUSSELL, Pa. – An 8-0 run to start the third quarter doubled the lead and Eisenhower continued to pull away in the second half in an 81-52 win over visiting Titusville.

The Knights held a 36-28 halftime advantage and the third quarter run pushed the lead to 44-28. Eisenhower outscored Titusville 23-9 in the quarter to take a 22-point lead into the fourth. Five players scored in double figures for the Knights, with three scoring 15 or more points.

Gavin Lindemuth had a team-high 17 points, while Austin Hanson and Kris Bunk each had 15 points. Kyler Black had 12 points and Derek Guiher added 10.

“Huge credit to my teammates,” Hanson said during the Cole Orthodontic Associates postgame interview. “I would not have been able to do any of that without their ability to drive and kick to me. Then me being able to knock down the shots.”

While Eisenhower was scoring, the Knights’ defense held one of District 10’s top scorers in check in the early part of the game.

Titusville’s Isaiah Colon came into the game averaging more than 25 points per game, and while he finished with a game-high 23, he was held to just a single point in the first quarter and eight for the first half.

“We played great helpside defense,” Hanson said. “We know he’s a great player so you always gotta be watching him, seeing where he’s going, keeping an eye on him, and not letting him touch the ball.”

Eisenhower jumped out to a 12-2 lead to start the game and led by as many as 14 late in the first quarter. With two minutes left in the second quarter, the Knights led 36-20.

Titusville closed out the half with an 8-0 run to trim the deficit to 36-28. That was as close as the Rockets would get for the rest of the game.

Colon was the only Rocket to reach double figures, though David Leonard and Devon Kurschinske each finished with eight points.

GROVE CITY 56, MERCYHURST PREP 42

ERIE, Pa. – Brett Loughry led three Grove City players in double figures with 19 points in a 56-42 win over Mercyhurst Prep.

Nathan Greer netted 18 points for Grove City, while Gavin Lutz scored nine of his 11 points in the first quarter for the Eagles.

Maddox Brzuz had 10 points for Mercyhurst Prep and Shaun McCausland added eight.

CORRY 60, MAPLEWOOD 29

CORRY, Pa. – Rylan Smith scored 18 of his 26 points in the first half as Corry beat Maplewood, 60-29.

Markus Lambert and Kamdyn Moon were also in double figures for Corry with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Elliott Beuchat led Maplewood with nine points.

SLIPPERY ROCK 68, PERRY TRADITIONAL ACADEMY 34

PITTSBURGH – Josh Book scored 25 points and pulled down 14 rebounds as Slippery Rock rolled to a 68-34 win over Perry.

Levi Prementine scored 20 points and had five thefts for the Rockets, while Max Kovacik added eight points.

Javon Diamond led Perry with 11 points.

GREENVILLE 61, NORTHWESTERN 52

ALBION, Pa. – Mason Vannoy led four Greenville players in double figures with 14 points in a 61-52 win over Northwestern.

Soren Hedderick, Noah Philson and Noah Cano all had 13 points in the win for the Trojans.

Jack Miller had 19 points for Northwestern, while Blake Gonzalez had 12 and Jake Regelman 10.

MEADVILLE 58, OIL CITY 48

OIL CITY, Pa. – Lucas Luteran poured in 24 points as Meadville earned a 58-46 win over Oil City.

Leading 42-39 going into the fourth quarter, Meadville outscored Oil City 16-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Sam Burchard also had 18 points for Meadville in the win.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 63, WEST MIDDLESEX 50

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Rayvion Wilbon-Venable led 26 points as Kennedy Catholic opened its season with a 63-50 win over West Middlesex.

Dominic Rapp had nine points for KC, which led 28-20 at halftime en route to the win.

Roman Golub had 22 points for West Middlesex, while Caleb Koncar added 13.

SHARPSVILLE 63, COMMODORE PERRY 39

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Luke Staunch had 24 points as Sharpsville picked up its first win of the season, 63-39 over Commodore Perry.

Keirnan Scullin had 14 points for the Blue Devils, while Carter DeJulia added nine points.

Kyle Stringert had 15 points for Commodore Perry.

Sayyid Donald led Oil City with 21 points.

FARRELL 85, REYNOLDS 39

TRANSFER, Pa. – Juju Phillips and Dontaye Bell had 15 points each as Farrell earned an 85-39 win over Reynolds.

Danny Odem had 13 points for the Steelers in the win.

CANISIUS (N.Y.) 70, CATHEDRAL PREP 52

WEST SENECA, N.Y. – Nicholas Purdie scored 19 points to lead Canisius (N.Y.) to a 70-52 win over Cathedral Prep.

Canisius led 40-30 at halftime en route to the win.

Ahmari Horton had 11 points had 11 points and Michael Thompson 11 for Prep.

MERCER 76, JAMESTOWN 30

MERCER, Pa. – Daemyin Mattocks led a balanced effort with 15 points as Mercer beat Jamestown, 76-30.

Bubba Palmer netted 14 points for the Mustangs in the win, while Jayden Amos added 10.

Gage Plavansky led Jamestown with ll points.
