WARREN, Pa. – Punxsutawney’s Danielle Griebel and West Middlesex’s Caitlin Stephens are the TapNPay+ girls’ basketball Performances of the Week for the Week of Jan. 14-20, 2024.
Griebel, the District 9 honoree, had a strong all-around game in helping Punxsutawney rally from a 16-point halftime deficit to beat St. Marys, 58-53, on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
She had 21 points, six assists, five rebounds, and three steals for the Lady Chucks and played a key role in a 13-0 run that ended the third quarter with Punxsutawney in the lead, 46-44, thanks to a Griebel 3-pointer with 18 seconds left in the quarter.
Stephens, the first multiple winner of the award in District 10, had another big-time game on Monday, Jan. 15, in a 60-55 come-from-behind win over Cochranton that gave head coach Mary Jo Staunch her 200th career win.
Scoring 10 of her game-high 34 points in the fourth quarter, Stephens willed the Big Red back from a 46-40 deficit heading to the fourth quarter.
