Oil City, McDowell Girls Nab Overtime Wins; Fairview, Warren, Cambridge Springs Roll

CORRY, Pa. – Oil City rallied from an 11-0 deficit after the first quarter to beat Corry in overtime, 37-32.

The Oilers battled back to within six, 20-14 at halftime, and went to overtime tied at 31.

Maddy Marczak scored 12 points for the Oilers, including four in overtime.

Nicki Petro added eight points for the Oilers.

Tayler Elchynski had a game-high 18 points for Corry.

                                      

MCDOWELL 40, HARBOR CREEK 36, overtime

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Amaiya Nelson scored 13 points as McDowell outlasted Harbor Creek in overtime, 40-36.

Jessica Hetz added 10 points for McDowell.

Sam Zank led Harbor Creek with 11 points, while Hanna Smith had eight points and eight rebounds.

FAIRVIEW 54, GENERAL MCLANE 25

                          

EDINBORO, Pa. – Fairview outscored General McLane 19-3 in the second quarter on its way to a 54-25 victory.

Hope Garrity knocked down five 3’s and scored eight of her game-high 19 points in the second quarter for the Tigers.

Sara Gennuso had 12 points (10 in the first half) for Fairview, while Ella Garrity added 10 points and Bre Heidt nine.

Libby Opp had nine points on three 3’s to pace General McLane.

WARREN 47, FRANKLIN 17

WARREN, Pa. – Warren won its fifth consecutive game and tightened its grip on the top spot in Region 5 with a 47-17 win over Franklin.

Alana Stuart led a balanced offensive effort with 11 points, while Gracie Ruhlman, Peyton Wotorson, Meea Irwin, and others helped lead a defense that allowed just 10 points in the final three quarters.

“We really want the region title,” Ruhlman said. “We haven’t won that since 2015 and they are (Franklin) some of our biggest competition, them and Conneaut. We figured let’s turn it up this game.”

A Jamie Blum 3-point play for Franklin put them within one, 8-7 with 2:28 to go in the first quarter. Warren (12-6 overall, 6-0 Region 5) outscored Franklin (10-8, 4-2) 39-10 the rest of the game.

Alyssa Farr knocked down a 3 in the first quarter and Peyton Wotorson had an old-school 3-point play.

Wotorson scored all seven of her points in the first half, one of eight players to score in the game for Warren.

Sammie Ruhlman finished with nine points, Wotorson and Farr seven each, Halle Kuzminski six, Gracie Ruhlman three, and Irwin and Emily Davidson two each.

Jenn Blum had seven points to lead Franklin.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 76, ROCKY GROVE 16

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Mackenzie Yanc nearly had a triple-double as Cambridge Springs earned a 76-16 win over Rocky Grove.

Yanc had 20 points (16 in the first half) to go along with 10 steals and eight assists. The Blue Devils scored 34 points in the second quarter en route to the win.

Finley Rauscher had 15 points for Cambridge Springs, while Payton Leandro added 10, Hailee Rodgers nine, and Sydney Zilhaver eight.

Rauscher and Rodgers also had four steals each.

Rae Montgomery had four points for Rocky Grove.

WILMINGTON 66, HICKORY 31

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Sophomore Lia Krarup scored 30 points as Wilmington toppled Hickory, 66-31.

Krarup had six 3’s in the win, while teammate Reese Bruckner scored 10 points and Sarah Dieter added nine.

                                  

Kimora Roberts led Hickory with 13 points.

SHARPSVILLE 34, GROVE CITY 24

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Lily Palko scored 18 points as Sharpsville earned a 34-24 win over Grove City.

The Blue Devils outscored the Eagles 10-4 in the fourth quarter on their way to the win.

Tori Kimpan added eight points for Sharpsville.

Izzy Gamble had nine points for Grove City.

CONNEAUT 46, MEADVILLE 41

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Conneaut outscored Meadville 15-10 in the fourth quarter on its way to a 46-41 win.

Lainie Harrington had a big game in the win for CASH with 23 points, nine rebounds, and four steals.

Also for CASH, Hannah Brady had six rebounds and two steals, Eliza Harrington four assists, and Morgan Poff five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Megan Puelio had 11 points for Meadville.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 95, JAMESTOWN 13

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Layke Fields and Bella Magestro combined for 44 points as Kennedy Catholic beat Jamestown, 95-13.

Fields had 24 points and Magestro 20, while Monique Vincent and Isabella Bianco had 18 points apiece.

Kiley Matters and Taylor Keener had four points each for Jamestown.

COCHRANTON 49, SAEGERTOWN 20

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Macie Williams scored 17 points as Cochranton earned a 49-20 win over Saegertown.

Eve Pfeiffer added nine points and Abby Knapka eight for Cochranton, which outscored Saegertown 28-12 in the second half.

Lindsey Greco had 11 points for Saegertown.

GREENVILLE 46, SLIPPERY ROCK 14

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Josie Lewis scored 17 points as Grove City topped Slippery Rock, 46-14.

Grace Cano added 16 points for Greenville, while Reese Schaller had eight.

Julia Coffaro and CJ Sabo had four points each for Slippery Rock.

NORTH EAST 67, EISENHOWER 36

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Alex Cozzens poured in 21 points to help North East to a 67-36 win over Eisenhower.

Lily Triana added nine points for North East.

LAKEVIEW 51, REYNOLDS 14

TRANSFER, Pa. – Kyndra Seddon scored 19 points in Lakeview’s 51-14 win over Reynolds.

Emma Marsteller and Kelsey Seddon were also in double figures for the Sailors with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Lea Miller and Savannah Johnson had four points each for Reynolds.

MERCER 43, COMMODORE PERRY 13

MERCER, Pa. – Ashlynn Heckathorn had 12 points and Pressley Washil seven as Mercer beat Commodore Perry, 43-13.

Marley Meyer had eight points for Commodore Perry.

MAPLEWOOD 49, UNION CITY 19

UNION CITY, Pa. – Sadie Thomas scored 14 points as Maplewood earned a 49-19 win over Union City.

Brook VanTassel had six points for Union City.

NORTHWESTERN 69, TITUSVILLE 19

ALBION, Pa. – McKayla Presser-Palmer scored 15 points as Northwestern earned a 69-19 win over Titusville.

Bri Wynn had six points for Titusville.
