NoPo Girls Edge CowValley; Snelick Goes for 34 in St. Marys Win; Kennedy Catholic 25-Game Win Streak Ends

WESTFIELD, Pa. – Molly Cady and Kayla Hyde each went 1 of 2 from the free-throw line in the final minute to lift Northern Potter to a 32-30 victory over Cowanesque Valley in the Cowanesque Valley Tournament.

The game was tied at 30 when Caddy and Hyde were both able to hit one of their free throws to put the Lady Panthers ahead.

Hayle Chapman led Northern Potter with 10 points with Caddy adding seven and Kayden Brown six points.

Northern Potter will play Wellsville (N.Y.) Saturday.

                                      

ST. MARYS 53, RIDGWAY 40

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Jayssa Snelick’s second consecutive 30-point game lifted St. Marys to a 53-40 win over visiting Ridgway in AML action.

Snelick, who scored 31 points on Tuesday, went for a career-high 34 points vs the Lady Elkers.

Alexa Schneider chipped in eight points in the win.

Jenna Kasmierski had a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds for Ridgway while Kristen Ellenberger hit five 3-pointers and also scored 18 points. Gabby Amacher habded out six assists.

                          

MORGANTOWN (W. Va.) 47, KENNEDY CATHOLIC 41

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Tied 37-37 going into the fourth quarter, Morgantown (W. Va.) outscored Kennedy Catholic 10-4 in the fourth quarter for a 47-41 win, snapping the Golden Eagles’ 25-game winning streak.

In a battle of defending state champions (Morgantown won Class 4A in West Virginia last season), Sayda Jones and Kaylie Kellog scored six points each, with Jones scoring six points in the fourth quarter.

Kennedy Catholic’s last loss came to Norwin, 53-29 on Dec. 22, 2022.

Layke Fields had another big game for Kennedy Catholic, pouring in 21 points. Bella Magestro and Monique Vincent added six points each for the Golden Eagles.

MERCER 43, SHARPSVILLE 36

MERCER, Pa. – Leading 21-20 at halftime, Mercer went on a 10-4 run in the third quarter en route to a 43-36 win over Sharpsville.

Pressley Washil scored six of her game-high 16 points in the third quarter for the Mustangs en route to the win.

Ashlynn Heckathorn and Ava Godfrey added six points each for Mercer.

Lily Palko scored 15 points to pace Sharpsville, while Savannah Hassan netted eight.

                                   

MONITEAU 54, CLARION-LIMESTONE 29

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Catherine Kelly had 21 points and Kendall Sankey added a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds to lead visiting Moniteau to a 54-29 win over Clarion-Limestone in KSAC action.

Sankey also added six assists, while Allie Pry added 13 points.

Jenna Dunn had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while Julianna Schwabenbauer chipped in seven points and Sam Simpson had 10 rebounds and two points.

EISENHOWER 43, KANE 34

KANE, Pa. – Eisenhower built a 22-14 halftime lead on its way to a 43-34 win over Kane.

Clara Steinberg led a balanced scoring effort for Eisenhower with 15 points, while Laney Belcher added 12 and Lainey Font nine.

Steinberg also had four steals, while Font had seven rebounds (four offensive) and four steals and Sam Childs four steals for the Lady Knights.

Maya Smith had 12 points for Kane, while Isabella Saf added eight and Hailey Hillman seven.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 57, DUBOIS 23

DUBOIS, Pa. – Led by 11 points from Kayley Risser, eight different DuBois Central Catholic players scored in a 57-23 win over visiting DuBois.

Marina Hanes added 10 points for the Lady Cardinals with Lexi Berta, Emma Elensky, and Ella Elensky each adding eight points.

Lynx Lander paced DuBois with 12 points.

OIL CITY 41, BROOKVILLE 34

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Payton Liederbach exploded for 30 points to lead visiting Oil City to a 41-34 win over Brookville.

                                  

Sophia Garmong chipped in eight points in the win.

Kerstyn Davie led Brookville with 12 points with Eden Wonderling and Bentley Hughet each scoring eight points.

OSWAYO VALLEY 33, CUBA-RUSHFORD (N.Y.) 18

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Charlotte Austin-Keech had 17 points, five rebounds, and three steals to lead Oswayo Valley to a 33-18 win over visiting Cuba-Rushford (N.Y.).

Makenna Manning added nine points, seven rebounds, and three steals for the Green Wave, while Eva West grabbed eight rebounds.

GREATER JOHNSTOWN 60, CLEARFIELD 43

HYDE, Pa. – Nalonai Tisinger scored all 19 of her points from the second quarter on to lead visiting Greater Johnstown to a 60-43 win over Clearfield.

Marcella White added 15 points for the Trojans.

Sonny Diehl, Hannah Glunt, and Cayleigh Walker each scored 11 points for Clearfield.

BUCKTAIL 32, AUSTIN 24

GALETON, Pa. – Makenzie Wagner scored a game-high 21 points to pace Bucktail to a 32-24 win over Austin on the opening day of the Galeton Tournament.

Isabella Rees had eight points, six rebounds, five steals, and two blocked shots to lead Austin.

PORTVILLE CENTRAL (N.Y.) 49, BRADFORD 27

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Lillian Bentley scored 14 points to lead Portville Central (N.Y.) to a 49-27 win over Bradford in the opening round of the Randy Stebbins Memorial Tournament at Otto-Eldred.

Kalie Dixon scored a game-high 16 points for Bradford, who will play tournament host Otto-Eldred in Saturday’s consolation game.

Portville will take on Allegany-Limestone (N.Y.) in the title game.

ALLEGANY-LIMESTONE (N.Y.) 43, OTTO-ELDRED 33

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Maddy Kahm led a trio of Allegany-Limestone (N.Y.) players in double digits with 15 points, as the Gators beat host Otto-Eldred, 43-33, in the opening round of the Randy Stebbins Memorial Tournament.

Mia Herzog and Mya Haynes each chipped in 11 points for A-L.

Carrie Drummond paced Otto-Eldred with 11 points with Rayel Hakes adding eight tallies.

Allegany-Limestone will take on Portville Central (N.Y.) in the title game Saturday, while O-E faces Bradford in the consolation contest.
