Mercer Rallies Past Clarion-Limestone; Grove City, Farrell, Cameron County Earn Wins

MERCER, Pa. – Tristan McCracken buried a pair of fourth-quarter 3-pointers to fuel a comeback from 14 down going to the quarter for Mercer in a 68-65 win over visiting Clarion-Limestone.

The Mustangs (17-3) trailed by 18 at halftime, 40-22, and were down 56-42 going to the fourth quarter before outscoring the Lions (12-8) 26-9 in the final eight minutes.

McCracken played a big role in the comeback scoring all eight of his points in the fourth quarter while Cole Cunningham and Braden Balaski also hit fourth-quarter long balls.

Meanwhile, Bubba Palmer scored six points in the quarter as well.

                                      

Cunningham led Mercer with 17 points with Dae Mattocks scoring 14, Balaski 11, including nine in the second half on three 3-pointers, and Palmer 10.

Jack Callen led C-L with 16 points with Jack Craig adding 15 and Jase Ferguson 13.

GROVE CITY 82, GREENVILLE 70

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Grove City built a 46-30 halftime lead and got a combined 48 points from Gavin Lutz and Brett Loughry in an 82-70 Region 5 win over Greenville.

With the win, the Eagles (11-9 overall, 6-2 Region 5) moved ½ game up on Hickory and Sharon in the Region 5 standings, with all three teams tied with two losses.

                          

Loughry went 6-of-6 from the line to help put the game away in the fourth quarter for Grove City, finishing with 23 points. Lutz, meanwhile, scored 15 of his 25 points in the first half.

Nathan Greer and Paul Gubba were also in double figures for Grove City with 14 and 11 points respectively.

Noah Cano made five 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 24 points for Greenville (9-11, 2-6).

Cano was one of four Trojans in double figures, as Mason Vannoy scored 15 points, Soren Hedderick 11, and Noah Philson 10.

FARRELL 85, BEAVER FALLS 58

FARRELL, Pa. – Farrell built a 28-9 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in an 85-58 win over Beaver Falls.

Danny Odem led the way for the Steelers (15-4), who led 44-21 at halftime, with 23 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists.

Dontaye Bell and JuJu Phillips were also in double figures with 16 and 13 points respectively. Bell also had five rebounds and Philips had four rebounds and three assists.

Da’Sean Anderson had 15 points for Beaver Falls (7-12).

CAMERON COUNTY 51, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 36

                                   

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Down two starters, Cameron County got a combined 30 points from Ryan Shaffer and Josh Beer to beat spiraling DuBois Central Catholic, 51-36.

Shaffer scored a game-high 17 points for the Red Raiders (17-3) while Beer netted 13 points.

Jake Narby also chipped in eight tallies for Cameron County, who was without leading scorer Josh Smith and fourth-leading scorer Landon Farren.

DCC (10-11), which has lost five in a row, got 14 points from Andrew Green and seven from Luke Fragale.
