Maplewood, Kennedy Catholic, Mercyhurst Prep Girls Claim Region Titles; Cathedral Prep, Warren Clinch Share of Region Crowns

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Maplewood went on an 18-9 run in the third quarter on its way to a 46-30 win over Saegertown, wrapping up the Region 2 title in the process.

Sadie Thomas scored all nine of her points in the second half for Maplewood, while Maddie Eimer, Bailey Varndell, and Savannah O’Hara added eight points each.

Hailee Gregor and Lindsey Greco had eight points each to lead Saegertown.

WARREN 60, MEADVILLE 33

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Ten different Warren players scored in a 60-33 win over Meadville that clinched a share of the Region 5 title for the Lady Dragons.

                                      

Alana Stuart led a balanced Warren effort with 12 points. The Lady Dragons can wrap up the region crown outright with a win over Corry on Monday.

The Lady Dragons (14-6 overall, 8-0 Region 5), who have won seven straight, all by double-digits, led 17-4 after the first quarter and 33-15 at halftime en route to the win.

Sammie Ruhlman had nine points and seven assists in the win, while Halle Kuzminski had eight points and six rebounds. Alyssa Farr also had eight points for Warren, while Emily Foster added seven points.

CATHEDRAL PREP 72, FORT LEBOEUF 18

WATERFORD, Pa. – Jayden McBride and Addie Biel scored 15 points each as Cathedral Prep wrapped up the Region 6 title with a 72-18 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

                          

Lena Walz added 14 points in the win for the Ramblers.

Jillian Soder had eight points for Fort LeBoeuf.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 94, COMMODORE PERRY 10

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Layke Fields scored 24 points as Kennedy Catholic wrapped up the Region 1 title with a 94-10 win over Commodore Perry.

Fields was one of five Kennedy players in double figures, as Hayden Keith had 16 points, Cassie Dancak had 14 points, Isabella Bianco had 13, and Bella Magestro had 12.

Marley Meyer had five points for Commodore Perry.

MERCYHURST PREP 63, TITUSVILLE 15

ERIE, Pa. – Mercyhurst Prep wrapped up the Region title with a 63-15 win over Titusville.

Olivia Kulyk led the way for Mercyhurst Prep with 23 points.

EISENHOWER 72, IROQUOIS 35

                                   

ERIE, Pa. – The youngsters continue to lead the way for Eisenhower, as freshmen Clara Steinberg, Laney Belcher and Lainey Font combined for 59 points in a 72-35 Region 3 win over Iroquois.

Steinberg and Belcher scored 23 points each, while Font had 13 for Eisenhower, which raced out to a 24-6 lead after the first quarter on its way to the win.

Mackenzie Dunn added seven points for Eisenhower, which improved to 11-8 with the win.

Grace Belfiore paced Iroquois with 11 points.

FAIRVIEW 56, ERIE 48

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Bre Heidt poured in 26 points as Fairview earned a hard-fought 56-48 win over Erie in Region 6 action.

Fairview went 20-of-23 from the free-throw line, including a perfect 6-of-6 in the fourth quarter.

Heidt scored 18 of her 26 points in the second half for the Lady Tigers, while Hope Garrity scored 16 points, including an 11-of-14 effort from the charity stripe.

Draya Neavins had 21 points to lead Erie.

MAPLEWOOD 46, SAEGERTOWN 30

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Maplewood went on an 18-9 run in the third quarter on its way to a 46-30 win over Saegertown, wrapping up the Region 2 title in the process.

Sadie Thomas scored all nine of her points in the second half for Maplewood, while Maddie Eimer, Bailey Varndell, and Savannah O’Hara added eight points each.

Hailee Gregor and Lindsey Greco had eight points each to lead Saegertown.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 37, COCHRANTON 24

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Makenzie Yanc had 18 points and 11 rebounds to help Cambridge Springs to a 37-24 win over Cochranton.

                                  

Cambridge Springs built a 17-8 halftime lead en route to the win.

Finley Rauscher had nine points and Jordyn Wheeler eight for the Blue Devils.

Ella Gallo and Eve Pfeiffer had six points each for Cochranton.

MCDOWELL 47, GENERAL MCLANE 38

EDINBORO, Pa. – Amaiya Nelson led a balanced effort with 14 points as McDowell held off General McLane 47-38 in a Region 6 battle.

Jessica Hetz was also in double figures for McDowell with 12 points, while Ava Feronti added eight.

Libby Opp had a big game for General McLane, knocking down five triples and finishing with a game-high 23 points. Kelsey Berger added seven points for the Lancers.

HICKORY 51, GROVE CITY 38

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Hickory built a 26-13 halftime lead on its way to a 51-38 Region 4 win.

Kimora Roberts pumped in 20 points for Hickory, while Malana Berach had 15.

Piper Como led Grove City with 15 points, while Karis Perample added 10.

FRANKLIN 52, OIL CITY 29

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Estella Adams scored a career-high 21 points (10 in the fourth quarter) as Franklin topped Oil City in the Route 8 rivalry, 52-29.

Franklin went on a 10-2 run in the third quarter en route to the win.

Jenn Blum added 13 points for Franklin.

Maddy Marczak led Oil City with 13 points.

WILMINGTON 62, SHARON 30

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa – Lia Krarup scored 20 points as Wilmington powered past Sharon, 62-30.

Wilmington built a 17-4 lead after the first quarter en route to the win.

Maya Jeckavitch added 10 points and Sarah Dieter eight for Wilmington.

Taylor Ragsdale-Holden led Sharon with 12 points.

SHARPSVILLE 47, SLIPPERY ROCK 17

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Chasie Fry scored 19 points as Sharpsville powered past Slippery Rock, 47-17.

Tori Kimpan added 12 points and Breanna Hanley nine for Sharpsville.

CJ Sabo had six points for Slippery Rock.

LAKEVIEW 50, WEST MIDDLESEX 36

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Kyndra Seddon scored 18 points as Lakeview topped West Middlesex, 50-36.

Lakeview went on a 16-2 run in the second quarter to take control.

Kelsey Seddon and Emma Marsteller had nine points each for Lakeview.

Caitlin Stephens led West Middlesex with 15 points, while Lexi Babcock added 10.

FARRELL 58, JAMESTOWN 24

FARRELL, Pa. – Gabby King poured in 26 points as Farrell earned a 58-24 win over Jamestown.

Janiya Daniels added 15 points for Farrell, while Damerra Thomas had 12.

Alayna Cadman had 13 points for Jamestown.

MERCER 42, REYNOLDS 10

MERCER, Pa. – Pressley Washil had 12 points as Mercer beat Reynolds, 42-10.

McKenna McCandless and Ava Godfrey had nine points each for Mercer.

Marissa Hillyer had five points for Reynolds.
