Late Clinger Free Throws Give Austin Girls Win; Schmader has Triple-Double for Brockway; Klawuhn Nails 7 3’s Scores 29 for ECC

AUSTIN, Pa. – Lilly Clinger hit a pair of free throws with 11 seconds left to lift Austin to a come-from-behind 50-48 home win over Cowanesque Valley.

The Lady Panthers (5-2) trailed 21-19 at halftime before taking a 34-33 lead at the end of the third quarter thanks in part to four points apiece from Isabella Rees and Clinger.

The game then remained close throughout the fourth quarter with Clinger, who was 2 of 4 from the line until her game-winning shots, came through in the clutch.

Savannah Horton led a balanced Lady Panther attack with 13 points with Clinger adding 10, Ella Brewer nine, and Rees and Kadence McKeirnan eight each.

                                      

Rees completed a strong all-around game with seven rebounds, six offensive, seven steals, and four assists. Brewer had five assists, four steals, and four rebounds, and Horton added seven rebounds and two steals.

Ashley Woodring and Ella Churchill combined for 31 points for Cowanesque Valley with Churchill scoring 10 of her game-high 16 points in the fourth quarter and Woodring netting 15 points.

BROCKWAY 60, CURWENSVILLE 32</strong >

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Behind a triple-double of 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 steals from Sophia Schmader, Brockway rolled past visiting Curwensville, 60-32.

Schmader’s first 20-point game of her career included 13 first-quarter points and eight more in the third quarter.

                          

Rheanna Spinda added 13 points and seven points for the Lady Rovers (3-3) while Sophia Morrison chipped in 11 points and Kalina Powell added eight points.

Karleigh Fryer had 14 points for Curwensville (0-4).

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 65, KANE 29

KANE, Pa. – Lucy Klawuhn hit seven 3-pointers and scored a career-high 29 points to lead Elk County Catholic to a 65-29 win at Kane in AML action.

Klawuhn, ECC’s all-time leading 3-pointer shooter with 167, dropped three triples in the first quarter alone when she scored 13 points. She also had three more threes in the third quarter scoring nine in that frame.

The Lady Crusaders (5-0 overall, 2-0 AML) led 33-11 at the half and also got 15 points from Sydney Alexander, who hit three 3-pointers of her own, and eight tallies from Emily Mourer.

Leah Tigani had 14 points for Kane (2-4, 0-2) with Maya Smith adding nine tallies.

Klawuhn’s previous career-high point total was 21 vs. DuBois last year.

PORT ALLEGANY 42, NORTHERN POTTER 32

ULYSSES, Pa. – With the game tied going to the fourth quarter Kayleigha Dowell and Mady Errick stepped to the forefront to lead visiting Port Allegany past Northern Potter, 42-32, in NTL action.

                                   

Dowel scored six of her season-high 17 points in the fourth quarter, while Errick netted eight of her career-high nine points in the quarter. Errick had never scored more than five points in the game prior to Monday night.

Behind Dowell and Errick, the first-place Lady Gators (5-2 overall, 4-0 NTL) outscored the Lady Panthers (4-4, 2-2) 16-6 in the quarter to break away from a 26-all tie heading to the frame.

Dowel added six rebounds for Port Allegany, while Errick had five boards. Ella Moses chipped in 12 points, five rebounds, and four steals.

Lillian Steele led Northern Potter with 12 points with Kayla Hyde adding eight tallies and 11 rebounds. Molly Cady had a game-high 12 rebounds for the Lady Panthers to go with five points, and Kayden Brown had 10 boards.

CAMERON COUNTY 50, SMETHPORT 40

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Freshman Elsie Bresslin had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead Cameron County past visiting Smethport, 50-40, in NTL action.

Bresslin added five steals and an assist to her strong performance, which included her first double-digit scoring game.

Navaeh Spaeth also scored a career-high 15 points, surpassing her previous best of 14 vs. Galeton last year, while grabbing six rebounds for the Lady Raiders (2-3 overall, 2-2 NTL).

Elizabeth Hungiville had a game-high 17 points, 12 rebounds, three steals, and a block for Smethport (1-7, 0-5) while going 9 of 12 from the free-throw line.

COUDERSPORT 41, OSWAYO VALLEY 31

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – A 17-9 fourth-quarter run helped visiting Coudersport pull away from Oswayo Valley and get a 41-31 NTL win.

The Lady Falcons (2-3 overall, 2-1 NTL) led by just two, 24-22, going to the fourth quarter after being outscored 12-5 in the third quarter.

But in the final frame, Hallie Rigas hit a 3-pointer and scored five points while Macie Popchak scored all four of her points to help Coudersport pull away.

Sierra Myers led a balanced Lady Falcon attack with 11 tallies, while Rigas and Savannah Myers each scored seven points, and Emilee Ruter and Laura Dunn chipped in with six apiece.

Savannah Myers also had seven assists and four rebounds, Sierra Myers added seven boards, and Dunn chipped in six rebounds and six steals.

                                  

Charlotte Austin-Keech had a game-high 14 points for Oswayo Valley (5-3, 3-2), while Makenna Manning had 10 points and eight rebounds.

OTTO-ELDRED 32, GALETON 15

GALETON, Pa. – Visiting Otto-Eldred, playing without second-leading scorer Carrie Drummond, used a balanced effort to topple Galeton, 32-15, in NTL action.

Rayel Hakes had eight points, five rebounds, and three steals for the Lady Terrors (4-4 overall, 3-2 NTL), while Kate Rhinehart hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with seven points and eight rebounds. Ayla Van Scoter also scored seven points, while Addie Bells added two points, seven rebounds, and three steals.

Addison Reigle and Lunee Baskik each scored six points for Galeton (0-6, 0-4).

PUNXSUTAWNEY 53, CLARION 31

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Another points-assists double-double from Danielle Griebel lifted Punxsutawney to a 53-31 win over visiting Clarion.

Griebel scored 12 points and dished out 10 assists while also grabbing six rebounds and recording four steals for the Lady Chucks (6-0), who outscored the Lady Cats 29-12 in the second half after holding a 24-19 halftime lead.

Avary Powell had a game-high 18 points for Punxsutawney while adding eight rebounds and four steals, and Olivia Burkett chipped in 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Taylor Alston continued her strong play for Clarion (2-4) with 16 points.

MONITEAU 56, DUBOIS 27

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Kendall Sankey had 17 points and seven rebounds to lead Moniteau to a 56-27 home win over DuBois.

Catherine Kelly added 15 points and five steals for the Lady Warriors (6-1), while Allie Pry chipped in 11 points. Cheyenne Curl contributed four points, nine rebounds, five steals, and four assists.

Lynd Lander had 15 points for DuBois (0-7).

KEYSTONE 45, UNION/A-C VALLEY 27

KNOX, Pa. – Ava Patrick led a balanced Keystone effort with 12 points, as the Lady Panthers beat visiting Union/A-C Valley, 45-27.

Isabella Brandon added 10 points for Keystone (3-3) while Ashlee Albright added nine points.

Maddy Dehart led Union/A-C Valley (1-5) with 13 points.

NORTH CLARION 68, CLARION-LIMESTONE 44

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Lily Homan scored a career-high 32 points while adding 10 steals and eight rebounds to lead North Clarion to a 68-44 win at Clarion-Limestone.

Homan scored 19 first-half points while surpassing her previous career-high of 29, which she did twice in her sophomore year at Venango Catholic.

Ainsley Hartle added 15 points and six steals for the She-Wolves (4-2) while Brooke Steinman added six points and 12 rebounds.

Jenna Dunn paced C-L (0-6) with 15 points while Hannah Beggs added 12 points.
