Fields Reaches 1,000 Career Points in Kennedy Catholic Victory; Opp has Big Game For GM in Win; Reynolds Edges Jamestown

FARRELL, Pa. – Needing 17 points to reach 1,000 for her career, Kennedy Catholic junior Layke Fields wasted no time, achieving the feat late in the first quarter of the Golden Eagles’ 79-28 win over Farrell.

Fields, who last season earned Pennsylvania Class 2A player of the year honors, scored the milestone basket on a layup off a pass from Monique Vincent.

It’s the second milestone in as many games for Fields, who collected her 600th career rebound in Thursday’s win over Reynolds. She now has 1,016 points.

Fields finished the game with 33 points, a career-high.

The Golden Eagles opened the game with a 30-9 first quarter and never looked back.

Fields was one of four Kennedy Catholic players in double figures in the win. Vincent finished the game with 17 points, while Tori Harvey had 13 and Bella Magestro 11.

Janiya Daniels had 11 points for Farrell.

                          

GENERAL MCLANE 47, FORT LEBOEUF 38

WATERFORD, Pa. – Libby Opp had a huge game, connecting for 33 points in General McLane’s 47-38 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

Leading 21-20 at halftime, GM outscored LeBoeuf 26-18 in the second half.

Opp connected on six 3’s in the win. Kiley Leasure added seven points for GM.

Jillian Soder scored 15 of her 21 points in the second half for LeBoeuf, while Kendra Tobin finished with 11.

REYNOLDS 36, JAMESTOWN 32

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Leading 28-27 going into the fourth quarter, Reynolds outscored Jamestown 8-5 in the fourth quarter to earn a 36-32 win.

Ava Murko and Hannah Reckhart each had a bucket in the fourth quarter. Murko finished with 13 points to lead the Raiders, while Reckhart was also in double figures with 10.

Alayna Cadman led Jamestown with 12 points, while Audra Thomas pulled down eight rebounds.

MERCYHURST PREP 59, SENECA 34

                                   

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Mercyhurst Prep went on a 27-7 run in the first quarter and never looked back in a 59-34 win over Seneca.

Olivia Kulyk led three Mercyhurst Prep players in double figures with 17 points, while Mia Mangini had 15 and Seana Thrower 11.

Haylee Farrell led Seneca with 13 points.

MAPLEWOOD 54, CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 37

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Savannah O’Hara scored 20 points to help lift Maplewood to a 54-37 win over Cambridge Springs.

Maplewood led 30-11 at halftime on its way to the win.

Maggie Means was also in double figures for Maplewood with 16 points, while Madison O’Hara added seven.

Brooke Eldred had 12 points and Payton Leandro 10 for Cambridge Springs.

LAKEVIEW 31, MERCER 17

STONEBORO, Pa. – Leading 18-12 after the third quarter, Lakeview went on a 13-5 run in the fourth en route to a 31-17 win over Mercer.

Kyndra Seddon had 10 points and six rebounds for Lakeview, while Leigha Marsteller and Maddie Doyle had six points each. Cordelia Williams also had six rebounds in the win.

Pressley Washil led Mercer with five points.

SHARPSVILLE 42, GREENVILLE 33

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Savannah Hassan scored 16 points as Sharpsville picked up its first win of the season, 42-33 over Greenville.

The Blue Devils outscored the Trojans 24-18 in the first half on their way to the win.

                                  

Macie Steiner was also in double figures for Sharpsville with 13 points, while Lily Palko added seven.

Preslie Kirila had nine points and Lily Chapman eight for Greenville.

CORRY 48, UNION CITY 47

CORRY, Pa. – Corry built a 20-12 halftime lead and held on for a 48-47 win over Union City.

Sayde Dyne had 12 points for Corry.

Shaelynn Kent scored eight of her 11 points in the fourth quarter for Union City, while Brooke VanTassel had 18 points.

GROVE CITY 56, SHARON 30

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Piper Como scored 26 points as Grove City beat Sharon, 56-30.

Como knocked down five 3’s and scored 16 of her points in the first half as Grove City built a 32-14 advantage after the first quarter.

Maddie Osborn scored 17 points for Grove City, while Izzie Gamble added 12.

Tay Chester and Lacey Root had 11 points each for Sharon.

WEST MIDDLESEX 62, COMMODORE PERRY 19

HADLEY, Pa. – Caitlin Stephens scored 21 points as West Middlesex topped Commodore Perry, 62-19.

Emma Mild added 13 points in the win for the Big Reds.

Marley Meyer had eight points for Commodore Perry.

COCHRANTON 59, ROCKY GROVE 29

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Shelby McBryar scored 18 points as Cochranton earned a 59-29 win over Rocky Grove.

Macie Williams added 12 points for Cochranton in the win.

Rae Montgomery had 14 points for Rocky Grove.

GIRARD 44, TITUSVILLE 41

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Lily Polk and Leah Pratt combined for 35 points as Girard held off Titusville, 44-41.

Polk scored 18 points and Pratt 17 in the win.

Addie Burleigh had 12 points for Titusville.

CATHEDRAL PREP 59, ERIE 14

ERIE, Pa. – Addie Biel led four Cathedral Prep players in double figures with 14 points in a 59-14 win over Erie.

Jayden McBride, Ava Lucarotti and Lena Walz had 12 points each for the Ramblers.

HARBOR CREEK 38, FAIRVIEW 32

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Brooke Przybylski scored 12 points as Harbor Creek held off Fairview, 38-32.

Talon King added 10 points in the win for the Huskies.

Bre Heidt had 12 points for Fairview.

NORTH EAST 57, IROQUOIS 17

ERIE, Pa. – Gigi Gaston led a balanced North East effort with 14 points in a 57-17 win over Iroquois.

Alex Cozzens added 12 points for North East in the win.
