Karns City Player Collapses on Field, Flown to Pittsburgh Hospital

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Karns City senior Mason Martin collapsed during the Karns City-Redbank Valley football game Friday night and was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital via medical helicopter, according to the Butler Eagle.

Martin collapsed with 7:53 to play in the third quarter shortly after Redbank Valley kicked an extra point to make the score 35-6.

Martin was eventually taken from the field in an ambulance and then flown to the Pittsburgh hospital.

“At this time, we are asking that everyone takes a moment to offer their thoughts and prayers that our injured player is OK,” Karns City superintendent Eric Ritzert told the Butler Eagle.

The game was called at that point with Redbank Valley declared the winner.
