Jan. 18, 2022 D10 Boys’ Hoops: Darling Has Big Night in Eisenhower Win; LeBoeuf, Warren Notch Overtime Victories

RUSSELL, Pa. – Curt Darling poured in 25 points to lead Eisenhower to a 74-58 Region 2 victory over Cochranton.

Cochranton actually began the game on a 14-5 game before Eisenhower settled in. Cochranton led 29-25 at the half, but Eisenhower outscored them 18-6 in the third quarter and put up 31 points in the fourth quarter.

Eisenhower went 18-of-22 from the free-throw line, as Wyatt Lookenhouse was also in double figures with 18 points, Kyler Black 11, and Kael Hunt nine.

Wyatt Barzak led a balanced Cochranton effort, scoring 14 points, one of four Cardinals in double figures. Kyle Hoffman and Dawson Carroll had 12 points apiece and Chase Miller 11.

WARREN 62, OIL CITY 59, overtime

                                      

OIL CITY, Pa. – Warren battled back in the second half to force overtime and held off Oil City, 62-59, handing the Oilers their first Region 5 loss.

Jake Hornbeck was fouled with less than five seconds to play on a 3-point attempt for Oil City, knocking down all three free throws to force overtime, 53-53.

In the extra session, Warren’s Owen Becker went 4-of-4 from the free-throw line, Tommy Nyquist drilled a three and J.T. Blum also had a key bucket.

Blum led four Warren players in double figures with 14 points, while Parks Ordiway had 13 and Nyquist and Becker 12 each. Blum scored nine of his points in the fourth quarter/overtime.

Judias Johnson had a monster game for Oil City, pouring in a game-high 26 points on nine made field goals and an 8-of-12 effort from the free-throw line.

                          

Hornbeck added 10 points for Oil City.

FORT LEBOEUF 61, CONNEAUT (Pa.) 58, double overtime

WATERFORD, Pa. – Ronan Dorler scored 24 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Fort LeBoeuf earned a 61-58 double-overtime win over Conneaut (Pa.).

Dom Gentile also had a double-double for the Bison with 14 points and 10 boards and Carson Papay had 17 points.

Conneaut rallied from down six in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Alex Nottingham led Conneaut with 17 points, while Rayge Michaud netted 13.

UNION CITY 64, MAPLEWOOD 45

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Matt Bennett led four Union City players in double figures with 20 points as the Bears earned a 64-45 Region 2 win over Maplewood.

Union City built a 38-20 halftime lead en route to the win.

Wyatt Post netted 13 points for UC, while Kyler Shaffer added 12 and Bryce Drayer 11.

                                   

Logan Kennedy and Connor Burns had 11 points each for Maplewood.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 67, IROQUOIS 38

LAWRENCE PARK, Pa. – Nathan Held scored 23 points as Cambridge Springs stayed atop the Region 2 standings with a 67-38 win over Iroquois.

Ethan Counasse had 13 points for Cambridge Springs, which led 32-20 at halftime.

Parker Schmidt and Josh Reisenauer had eight points each for the Blue Devils.

Corrion Combest had 13 points for Iroquois.

FAIRVIEW 53, CORRY 28

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Leading by two at halftime, Fairview outscored 29-6 in the second half to earn a 53-28 win over Corry and keep its perfect record intact.

Tyler Shultz had a big game for the Tigers with 21 points, while Jame Sitter netted 15 and Logan Frazao eight.

Logan Joncas had 11 points to lead Corry.

SAEGERTOWN 64, YOUNGSVILLE 22

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Brady Greco and Henry Shaffer scored 13 points each as Saegertown powered past Youngsville, 64-22.

Saegertown outscored Youngsville 41-16 in the first half.

Jaden Wilkins added 12 points for Saegertown.

Alex Hill and Keegan Mesel had six points each for Youngsville.

                                  

CATHEDRAL PREP 57, GENERAL MCLANE 48

ERIE, Pa. – Cathedral Prep jumped out to a 10-point first-quarter lead on its way to a 57-48 Region 6 win over General McLane.

Zion Barksdale led three Prep players in double figures with 15 points, while Jake Sambuchino netted 11 and Tavion Spencer 10.

Jeremiah Schreiber led GM with 17 points and Danny Bruce added 12.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 82, ROCKY GROVE 36

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Three different Kennedy Catholic players scored at least 20 points in an 82-36 Region 1 win over Rocky Grove.

Elijah Harden spearheaded the offensive outburst with 29 points, while Malik Lampkins-Rudolph had 23 and Gio Magestro 20.

The Golden Eagles put up 50 points in the first half en route to the win.

D’Andre Whitman had 12 points to lead RG.

HARBOR CREEK 86, TITUSVILLE 32

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Nick Krahe scored 18 points as Harbor Creek earned an 86-32 win over Titusville in Region 5 play.

Jaden Rocco netted 16 points and Brady Rzodkiewicz 15 as nine different Harbor Creek players made their way into the scoring column.

The Huskies put up 54 points in the first half.

Andrew Wheeling had 14 points for Titusville.

GIRARD 66, ERIE FIRST CHRISTIAN 59

GIRARD, Pa. – JJ Lehman scored 15 points to lead a balanced Girard effort in a 66-59 win over Erie First Christian.

Dylan McDonald had 13 points as nine different Girard players scored.

Evan Montefiori had 22 points to lead all scorers for EFC and Anthony Collins had 16.

HICKORY 54, SHARON 34

SHARON, Pa. – Jackson Pryts led a balanced effort with 15 points as Hickory earned a 54-34 win over Sharon.

Tyler Mele added 12 points and Aidan Enoch and Tyson Djakovich nine each for the Hornets, who led 31-16 at halftime en route to the win.

Mister Ham led Sharon with 14 points and Connor Porterfield netted 13.

WEST MIDDLESEX 55, LAKEVIEW 46

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Giovanni Ricoci and Richie Preston combined for 40 points in a 55-46 win over Lakeview.

Ricoci had 23 points and Preston 17 as the Big Reds outscored the Sailors 16-9 in the fourth quarter.

Cam Pence had a big game for Lakeview with a game-high 24 points.
